    Re: Generic type conversion function CType

    I was recently in a big debate about generics and reflection at the tB GitHub discussion board. Try as I might, I don't see generics & reflection as an improvement over the COM contractual approach....

    Re: How should I rewrite this to not use GoTo?

    Here's a couple of other ways you could do it:

    Sub Test()
    Dim skip As String
    Dim arr() As String
    Dim arrSkip() As String
    Dim i As Long
    Dim j As Long

    Re: vbWidgets/RC5 UI Questions "Megathread"

    It's admittedly a bit weird to have both applied to a single UI element, but I find it useful for things like dialog windows that just have a single button. When doing a lot of data entry, I can get...

    Those are great links, and my apologies for not including you in my list of RCx UI "pioneers" alongside reexre and ColinE66. I always forget you changed your name!
  11. Re: Cairo Wiget / Form setout question

    So here's an example of the kind of difficulties I'm facing when trying to put together a small demo.

  12. Re: Cairo Wiget / Form setout question

    I could be wrong about it not being possible to use an RC6 widget on a VB6 form. Hopefully Olaf will be able to provide an answer.

    There are a bunch of pre-written Widgets in the vbWidgets.dll...
  13. Re: Cairo Wiget / Form setout question

    First, I don't know if it's possible to show RC6 widgets on a normal VB6 form or not. It might be, but I suspect it will complicated, especially compare to using an RC6 form.

    Have you had a look...

    It's not just you, I've been using (and been a proponent of) Olaf's library for mostly non-UI stuff well over a decade, but there's something about the Widget engine that I struggle with to this day....
  16. Re: [VB6] Event Tracing for Windows - Monitoring File Activity with ETW

    I could be way off on the above, that's just what I would try on a first pass based on how I read the documentation you provided.
  17. Re: [VB6] Event Tracing for Windows - Monitoring File Activity with ETW

    That is some pretty awful wording on MSs part. Here's how I read it:

    Re: Faster ByteArray search/loop

    I've just tested looping a byte array to find a series of bytes, and it is slower than InStr but certainly "close". Some things to note:

    Re: Faster ByteArray search/loop

    After converting from unicode, InStr will no longer match Unicode strings against your byte array. You have to convert your search string from Unicode as well:
