Re: Can anyone write an array module?

That might be true if productivity was only about writing code. Maintaining and fixing old code can be a substantial amount of time, Linq can make code a lot more readable compared to loops as it...

    Re: TwinBasic

You also have to contend with code that might need to work either way - if a library exists it might need to accept an "old" data type or a "new" data type that conceptually are the same. Making sure...
  4. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

I would have still expected a language that has arrays to have a built in way of detecting if they are empty or not, just seems such a basic bit of functionality to be missing.

    Apart from the...
  5. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

Certainly surprising and potentially ridiculous :) Testing for errors is certainly something you do in code, I just wouldn't have expected to do something like that for something as basic as checking...

Re: Can anyone write an array module?

If you are going to get into petty arguments about how you can do exactly the same thing in VB6 in one line of code and even compare the line lengths then at least have the decency to make the VB6...

Re: Can anyone write an array module?

Except the VB6 version isn't doing the same thing, the VB6 version is doing the Join as part of the Debug.Print, the VB.Net is doing the join as part of the one line.

Re: Can anyone write an array module?

If they aren't free by the definition of "somebody" had to write them then absolutely no code is free. All code is written by someone. If functionality is built into the framework however then it is...
  9. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

I used to use VB6 a lot, in fact first used VB3 and then also suffered VB4 before using 5 and then 6. I have barely touched VB6 in about 20 years and probably not used it at all in the past 15 years;...
  10. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

Just saw this crop up in the VB6 side of things... https://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?231663-VB-Snippet-Determine-if-Array-is-Empty is that honestly how you check if an array is empty in VB6?

  11. Re: C, C++, C#, VB6 Programmer analogy with regard to building

Originally it was intended more as a teaching language, the indentation being part of the syntax was designed to encourage good practices.

  12. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

If anything VB6 makes it even harder to understand API as you now have to contend with differences in data types (Integer in VB6 is not an int in the API), harder to handle windows messages directly...

  22. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

  23. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

  24. VS 2019 Re: Forms under a project instead of solution

The forms and modules are all within a project called "NLS 050", which is inside a solution also called "NLS 050" - you don't need to do anything as all the files are indeed part of a project.

Re: When opening a file in Notepad

Not really sure what you mean by "extract the binary code of a file", a file is nothing more than a collection of bytes. You can just read the bytes as Niya describes above.
