    Re: GUI Question

Peter, can you add your application here too please?

  2. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Those are both good quality diversions.
  3. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

I don't want to go there. I prefer to screw up this thread and make it a more fun place to be. Food, cars, Digital Equipment Corporation are all useful sidetracks for this kind of thread.
  4. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

    Pictures or it didn't happen.
  5. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

I'll learn .NET when you learn to control yourself.
  6. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

In all fairness, I think that was your problem, gaping the plugs. They don't like to be gaped, they don't work that way. A bit of gapping is a much a better idea, your old car is more likely to...
  7. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Most of us don't have the luxury of being somewhere else where you can do things much better in that 'foreign' way.

I am stuck in VB6 because that is simply where I am, it will take me a long time...
  8. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Yes! Let's do that! That sounds great. Home grown operating systems are the best. Let us see one written in VB6 where no Win APIs are used ( of course) and the runtime is the bootloader...

At this stage it seems only proper to display the latest version of my most recent design here so that Dil. can comment upon it negatively.

  10. Re: Getting the ball rolling. Which VB6 projects are you working on?

    A superb and practical application.
  11. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Niya, what substance are you currently taking that makes you say such puerile things?

That is an example of how words are twisted by your mind and how you present other's statements deliberately...
  12. Re: code conversion from vb.net to vb6.0

Those C# barstewards... its time we took a trip over there and gave them some the medicine we get here.

Who's with me? Let's go get us a possee! (said in my most American accent).
  13. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

I agree. He WANTS a battle. He relishes it. You are a Jehovah's witness Niya, your chosen religion is strange. You simply can't keep quiet. Nothing will restrain you. Olaf's presence spurs you on to...
  14. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

What the Honourable Member Niya didn't grow out of is the proselytising which he does at every opportunity. It is practically a religion for him that he needs to declare and convert others to as...
  15. Re: Has anyone ever cloned an HHD to a SSD?

With regard to that suggestion a 64gb SSD might do it and they are very cheap.

I had my first SSD bought for me by a stranger. I had lots of software available for download for free with a...
  16. Re: Has anyone ever cloned an HHD to a SSD?

I think your drives die quite often as they are Seagate. I used to swear by them but at some point the dreaded cost-cutting came into play and their drives became unreliable across the board. I used...
  17. Re: Has anyone ever cloned an HHD to a SSD?

I find it hard to believe that Peter Porter, a man with capability would struggle to mount a SSD.

  18. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Niya or the Honourable Gentleman Niya, there are no "you guys", that is just you and Olaf arguing it out with a few others on occasion chiming in to show you how crazy you have become in your...

  20. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Olaf, the help you provide is for free and is invaluable being from such a well of deep expertise.

Niya, I am sure your .NET knowledge is deep too, your VB6 knowledge is certainly vastly deeper...
  21. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

This was mine that went to ten pages before Niya went loco and the thread was locked.

    Re: GUI Question

I am sorry but if that was meant to be an insult to my own designs then it went way over my head. I am not American and so these cultural references escape me.

  23. Re: VB6 vs .NET differences ... IDE, libraries, functionality, whatever

Well, I did precisely this and the thread was shutdown as Niya went bonkers.
  24. Re: Has anyone ever cloned an HHD to a SSD?

Macrium Reflect is what I would suggest too, Clonezilla often can't be trusted to do the job.

Done this many times. Purchasing a full copy of the final tool you choose is really a good idea. They...
  25. Re: Getting the ball rolling. Which VB6 projects are you working on?

Attachments don't work well here, still best to host them on imgur and then insert the image manually.

That description was exactly what I wanted and it all makes sense. Really good.

  28. Re: Getting the ball rolling. Which VB6 projects are you working on?

So, is the data there formatted using HTML and .js? I am presuming that is some sort of Enterprise Monitoring System you have there? I'd like to know more.

    Re: [RESOLVED] Playing music

I don't 100% agree. If you know the mp3/wav file duration and it isn't going to change, what's the point of all the complex code and API calls? The file duration is more or less a constant. You just...

But is he? I have been told that he doesn't really exist, a mere figment of our imagination. Like Santa, he is a useful construct but nothing more. Regardless, I have zero opinions either way.

    Re: [RESOLVED] Playing music

An easier method is to measure the track length of the music you wish to play. You do that manually using audacity. When you have the length in seconds you can add that to the filename.
