...well, yes, sometimes it does. But it's a pretty clever thing indeed, not only does it put everything into a single executable, you can also choose which part of the files and registry entries used...
-
...thanks a ton @rboek, that did the trick. Life could be so easy, if you know whats going on :thumb::wave:
thanks also @superdre and you all, I'm really happy!

I did'nt say that, on the contrary, I said: It just worked (up to now, that is)
Like I said, everything works fine except the winsock control. If I could just add the missing license to the...
-
...thanks for your tips, dilletante & dz32
I will try a few things tomorrow, for today I'm done, will make myself wet. i.e. have a swim in the nearby -still very warm- lake.
thanks again
-
...thanks!
So at least its possible. I installed VB6 following the Videoguide 'How to install Visual Basic 6.0 on Windows 11' from FeyLyn Tech
Went smooth and everything else is working...
-
thanks!
(may be someone of you Gurus has a more convenient idea.
another subclassing adventure is not what I hope for.)
While installing VB6 I also installed the latest ServicePack6 security...
-
...thanks again!
Will try that if no one has a hint how to use Winsock OCX in W11.
Had no problems so far, of course its old, but so is VB6. I just worked.
-
..thanks, well, may be, but where to begin?
Is there any tutorial?
-
I managed to successfully install VB6 Enterprise Edition on a new Windows 11 computer.
However it refuses to load programs with the mswinsck.ocx control with error 429, no valid licence.
It worked...

...I don't quite understand why the .Enabled property is not used for that.
If not enabled, don't trigger the event! What could be easier than that??
-
... I never bothered about copy protection much, but thought about it from time to time.
I think it's important that you use keys not in your mentioned way (so the cracker may just localize and...

This!
For the record: I *do* have a legal copy of VB6, but if I didn't have one, I wouldn't care!
Because: nobody cares!
I can't see the slightest reason for M$ to go after you. If anything,...
-
LOL. Then it's a good thing, isn't it?
-
... yeah, it probably is, but I have no time and energy to change that really.:(
But, thinking about it, that may be the cause of this behaviour. May be VB in Native-Code is doing just that....
-
...and what do you do if you have a rich Sub with a lot of local variables?
Passing dozens of variables to the Sub? Or making these variables Global? Neither seems a good idea to me??
-
thanks, that's what I assumed. I have these unchecked too. So why this difference of 10-15 to 3.7 times slower?? (And the numbers are very stable, like +-1)
Yes, obviously that is what it...
-
yes, I noted that to. But my numbers are quite different (well, on a quite dated computer)
Gosub -> 1258
normal Sub -> 340
So more about a factor of 3 to 4
What do you mean with: 'all extended...
-
...well, so true! But this is not surprising, considering that English was born from the head-on collision of two languages, Germanic and French. But the good thing is that because things like...
-
...well, I use EnigmaVB (VirtualBox) for this. It's free and just works. And has the additional benefit which of any additional files and whatnot you want to expose to the user.
Super easy! (up to...
-
...and by the way: I quite often get this 'Identifier under cursor is not recognized' message even if it's perfectly declared.
Sometimes for obvious reasons, but often I have no idea.
Looks...
-
... well,I *did* call the function and it didn't complain. And *while* I was stepping through the function I could change the variable to whatever name.
-
La Volpe
I second everything that is said in this thread, thank you for all your generous help and contributions.
The hundreds and hundreds of your lvButtons in my projects already start to feel a...
-
...same thing happened to me just yesterday in a .bas module.
Option Explicit --> all variables correctly Dimed -> then made a typo in using one of them.
VB6 did not complain, in fact I could...
-
... well, yes, that's what I would *think* too, but -alas- it isn't!
And by wildly I mean wildly. And not only at certain places, but throughout the executable.
The application is nothing special,...
-
????
...if do a compile of my major application, and then do the same compile again, the resulting executables are wildly different!
No idea why though!
Also, there are quite a few bugs in VB,...

..... or just set the Form height to zero.
-
thanks, Elroy!
Yeah, that's more or less what I do, albeit more complex, as the forms often change size, between a 'condensed' and 'full size' state.
-
...happens to me a lot. Leading to the question:
Is there a easy way to *prevent* the Form_Resize?
Make any change, the Form immediately resizes. Even when *one* Resize at the end would be...
-
...many thanks for this! It works great on a cheap W8 Tablet with up to ten touches. It also works on a rather ancient optical touchscreen with two touches, though it gets confused easily if you...
-
... thank you!
It has been a while since I used this Syntax-RTB so I don't remember the details of what I did.
I do remember though that I had some troubles of precisely locating the Error-line...
-
Hey, LaVolpe, thank you for this. I didn't know that.
I'm confused though, I use InStr in RTBs a lot and had so far no problems I'm aware off.
Am I just a lucky idiot or is your warning just for...
-
... to use it, just insert it into any project and use like a regular RTB-control
-
...this works for me:
176675
-
... google SOLO_RTBSyntax, a User-Control that may be of interest
-
...or use a commented out Resume in the Error Handler. So in case just activate it, then it jumps right back to the code in question.
-
Well, I'm quite a newbee on this and don't even understand some statements in this thread.
But generaly speaking I use OERN in situations when something has to be done depending on *circumstances...
-
...well, what I do is just setting the Form-Height to zero while loading.
And yes, populating Combos via API helps.
-
This!
I had exactly the same problem out of the blue a while ago (W8.1).
Rolling back to the last restore point fortunatly solved it, but I have no idea what happened.
No Updates done, no...
-
... Nevermind, it works again:)
But why, I have'nt the slightest idea. May be I should have mentioned a possible connection of my problems with a very strange crash of a third party application...

VB6 on Win8.1 (6.3 Build 9600) suddenly crashes on (any!) project load or create new project immediatly???
Worked well until yesterday, no updates (besides Windows-Defender-Sigs) done and no...
