Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

Stealing a church??? The whole building, or just part of it? Is that easy, difficult, bad, or something else?
  2. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

Uhhh, I don't see any of those as being difficult, with the possible exception of the border radius being such a specific value (without units, so you could technically language lawyer that into...

I don't think anybody is covering for anything. My guess is that they missed something. I totally believe that the dog could die, and I have no problem with the idea that one adult died, but both? It...

Still, it was a weird story. At first, I assumed the gun was loaded with blanks. This wouldn't be the first time that somebody was killed by a blank. Blanks still shoot 'stuff' with enough force to...

Yeah, it was a bit too soon...I had no idea what you were talking about. You kind of have to wait until the news gets out there before you can joke about it without a 'hunh???"

Re: This just doesn't sound reasonable

Yeah, that's what I wasn't so sure on, either, but people can make pretty bad decisions. Their dog either gets sick from the algae, or dies from the heat, and they don't respond well, perhaps. Dogs...
  8. Re: [RESOLVED] Raise Event/Function/Sub on Child Form, From MDI Parent

Just remove the shared. Not sure why they are there on either the event or the event handler. I'm not sure why you thought they were required. That usually indicates that you're over thinking this,...

    Re: SQLServerCE

You can still use Access mdb files. The Jet DB engine is built into Windows, so it's a bit hard for MS to abandon it. I don't think it's quite as good as SQL Server, though I've never used the CE...

We may be getting enough rain in the next few days to make even those in Louisiana think it's at least humid. I know I shouldn't be getting my hopes up, but when it comes to rain, we're so frequently...

Wow, the Browns are more beaten up than I had realized. That's a whole lot of missing pieces. They were lucky to get by Denver.
  12. Re: Developing VSTO Plugin...which is Auto Disabled

Well, that's always a possibility. The problem is, though, that it certainly wouldn't admit to it.
  13. Re: [RESOLVED] Raise Event/Function/Sub on Child Form, From MDI Parent

You almost certainly don't want that sub to be Shared. It's a bit hard to think of a scenario where you'd need it to be, and every other scenario you wouldn't want it to be.
  14. Re: Can someone help answer this 4 questions? I'm using MS Visual Basic 2010

I think you should have used a timer for the first one. After all, the question states that you can use ANY looping structure, and a timer is a looping structure.
  15. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

I think that's because of the size and patchwork nature of the US. What happens in Idaho is much different from what happens in Michigan, because we're far enough apart that we can act independently....

  17. Re: Query wants to update unreferenced field

We won't sneer at you. Honest. We might snicker wickedly, but not sneer.

I agree with wes, though. The easiest answer is that the field is not nullable and has no default value.

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

They don't give a darn about your security, they give a darn about theirs. A brief look into this shows that they're addressing some big hacks on MS based systems, and even MS programs themselves.

  22. Re: Posting a VB.NET code as part of supporting info for journal publishing

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

I don't worry about it. I understood Win 8 when it came out, I understand Win10, and I think I understand Win11. When they get here, they get here.

All that MS is doing is trying to make an OS...
  25. Re: Developing VSTO Plugin...which is Auto Disabled

If I understand it right, the general approach that the links and that code are taking is to stop MS from disabling plugins, largely because MS is a little over-zealous about disabling plugins.

  26. Re: Raise Event/Function/Sub on Child Form, From MDI Parent

I disagree. From what I've seen, I think the real reason is that they wanted to shift people onto a hardware platform that would allow for some new kinds of security. After all, one of the core...

  31. Re: Developing VSTO Plugin...which is Auto Disabled

  32. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

    Re: [RESOLVED] Load Event Aborting

I used to handle some DB connections that way when I was writing in VB6. I was only using an Access DB, and there was expected to be only one user at a time. It made more sense, in that situation.
