    Re: Post Race!

    I use Bengal spray: https://www.bengal.com/products/outdoor-bugs/wasps-hornets

They get disoriented, fly around for about 5 seconds, and then drop dead.

    Very satisfying to watch.

VS 2010 Re: Replace every 4th space with number 200

    You can do the following:

Split the String on a space
Store the result in a Queue
Loop until there is nothing left
Keep track of when you've looped over the 4th word
    Append the word...

VS 2019 Re: Get number of cell

@Tyson, I don't think the user is asking to get the column name but rather is asking to get the column/row index of cell with given text.

If that's the case then I think you will need to do the...

Re: Extra Value that is EMPTY

No, not that. Change that back to what it was. What I meant by checking that the value is not Nothing before you check if it is not DBNull is:

    Me.DgUnitsUp.Rows(i).Cells(8).Value IsNot Nothing...

Re: Extra Value that is EMPTY

I don't know why you'd be getting the error. My only other suggestion would be to also check that it is not Nothing before you check if it is not DBNull.

Re: Extra Value that is EMPTY

The underlying issue is the same. You are attempting to access a member, in this case ToString, on a value that is null.

    If (Not...

Re: Extra Value that is EMPTY

DbNull is not the same as Nothing or an empty string. It is used to specifically check if the database value is null. You can use something like:

    DBNull.Value.Equals(value)

If I were you, then I would setup some conditional statements to check for easy errors:

Re: Extra Value that is EMPTY

Without messing around with any of the VB.NET code, you could simply do a UNION in your SQL on null/blank values:

Is the error still the same?
  17. Re: visual studio 2017 listener instead of timer?

sender and e will need to be renamed to avoid the conflicting parameter names of load. What is the error for created?
  18. Re: visual studio 2017 listener instead of timer?

I modified the code slightly (I mentioned this in post #5).
  19. Re: visual studio 2017 listener instead of timer?

I modified the code slightly, but yes, that would go in the Form's load event.
  20. Re: visual studio 2017 listener instead of timer?

Take a look at the FileSystemWatcher class (documentation). Here is a quick (untested) example:

You did not mention that this was a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn in your original post, that would have been helpful.

While I cannot test, I believe it would be as simple as getting the cell's value.

    Re: Update Statement - DatagridView

This is invalid syntax for an update statement, remove it:

    (flattype, units, rentamt, vacant, tenantregID)

This is likely an artifact from copying/pasting an insert statement.
