  1. VS 2019 Re: Why NumericUpDown control allows more than one decimal separators?

I think it is safe to say that it won't be, as it's not seen as a problem. It has almost certainly been this way since 2002.

What does it matter? What scenario are you finding where it makes any...

    Using VSTO to Share Documents

I'm not sure that I want to do this, but while doing a bit of research, I can't seem to get an answer. I know that MS Word documents can be shared, and opened for collaboration, co-editing,...

Darn, that answer makes it worse, if anything. The first didn't have any issue, the second is closer to what I was doing, and they report essentially the same error....but there isn't really a...
  4. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Yeah, they're both Republicans. The two jobs are elected independently, in this state, so they don't have to get along. This is largely a single party state, with the center fighting with an...

Why bother? John Deere stands behind all their equipment....except the manure spreader...they don't stand behind that.
  6. Re: C, C++, C#, VB6 Programmer analogy with regard to building

So...if you get the white space wrong, the program won't work??? Couldn't you then call an error in the spacing, white noise?

    Re: Extending VB6

I'd say it just has to do with what you are used to.

For a while, back in the early 90s, Apple was not designed to ever change. Once you got it set up and running, you never dared change ANYTHING...
  8. Re: "The call stack contains only external code" error

If you haven't used breakpoints and code stepping, take the time to learn right away. There is no more powerful tool available to you than that, which may also be why it is so super easy to use. I...
  9. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Yeah. We're going to have a wonderful primary race. When two of the candidates utterly loathe one another, and a third took over the Malheur Wildlife Refuge (yep, he's running, as well)...it's just...

So...either way will kill you, but one is faster?
  11. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

Yeah, that's what I meant: If somebody sees it as being harder to do stuff with, then they perceive it to be closer to the metal.

I was being sarcastic, of course, but it's true. VB6 isn't closer...

    Re: Extending VB6

Absolutely! That is totally the strategy.

Back when VB6 was around, developer tools cost money, sometimes fairly big money. At some point, MS realized that the key to their success was getting...

    Re: Extending VB6

Nope. That wasn't part of it. They felt that Java was a threat, .NET was a response to that threat, and they wanted to, "put all their wood behind one arrow." And, yeah, I have some insider...
  14. Re: "The call stack contains only external code" error

Even without that, you have shown us the Load event, and a series of events that only happen when you take action, and a tick event. You should be able to rule out at least one of those, and possibly...

    Word Template Not Found

I'm writing my first ever VSTO application, and running into a bit of an oddity. I am trying to create a document based on a template like so:

  18. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Did you notice that they had to use a picture from LA to show people wearing masks and a store that mandated it? Won't find that in Idaho.
  19. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Yeah, I'm loving this working from home thing. COVID is just an excuse for me, by this point. I think I've done about as much as I can, to no avail. Still, not driving for a week or two is sure nice.
  20. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

I guess I'll jump in on that, too. If the problem in Idaho was the vaccinated not taking precautions, then we'd see about 60% taking precautions, because only 40% are vaccinated. That's not what I...
  21. Re: The $5,000 electric car-5G battle vs. new energy vehicle battle

I feel that that is an important point. If every electric vehicle manufacturer uses a proprietary plug, it will be a nightmare for drivers. If everybody uses the standard 110V plug, then any outlet...

  23. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Yeah, all kinds of things COULD work, but I'd say that at this point, it is pretty clear that most of the US is going to opt for doing nothing at all.
  24. Re: The $5,000 electric car-5G battle vs. new energy vehicle battle

I have no idea why you added this post to THIS thread, but note that the Globe article was an extrapolation from early September, and some of it appears to be wrong. For one thing, they extrapolated...
  25. VS 2019 Re: Why NumericUpDown control allows more than one decimal separators?

Yeah, I know there are at least a few. One thing that I've never gone looking for is how they handle copy/paste.
  26. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

I got banned for using no profanity at all, just a somewhat blue phrase.

Everybody has different standards and different responses.
  27. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

If you included the rest of the statement, you'd realize that, at worst, I left out a single word.
  28. Re: C, C++, C#, VB6 Programmer analogy with regard to building

Not quite, because the bricks are actually bytes. Assembler is very close, but not quite the same thing. You need to get to byte code for that. Technically, ASM is a one to one relationship to that,...

  30. VS 2019 Re: Why NumericUpDown control allows more than one decimal separators?

I think I once knew that, but the end result is WHY? Handling keypresses in textboxes is already problematic (you can get data into the textbox without a keypress), so why do so in a NUD?
  31. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Don't care if you usually swear or not, but doing so in this forum is against the AUP. You didn't need to say that in that fashion.
  32. Re: The $5,000 electric car-5G battle vs. new energy vehicle battle

The Insight didn't go far enough. It still has a flat back, though it is somewhat tapered. People have a feel that cars are aerodynamic if they are wedge shaped, but it matters a whole lot more how...

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

Well, it means that it isn't really out, yet. Yeah, they have an early adopter program, but with MS, I'm not sure that it pays to be early unless you have a specific reason to. It will show up in due...
  34. Re: C, C++, C#, VB6 Programmer analogy with regard to building

Do we need this? Yet another religious war thread about programming languages?

You have a few things wrong in there. VB.NET can write in what was CORE (it's not .NET5, and soon .NET6) just fine....
  35. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

    Sharks aren't smooth.

VB6 is closer to the metal because it's more painful to work with, and that equals closer to the metal to most people.

In fact, VB6 never was close to the metal, and was...

MS will take your money, if you send them enough. VB6 is still available via a developer subscription, but that's a pretty high price to pay.

I was going to ask about the VB6 IDE, since you seem...
  37. VS 2019 Re: Why NumericUpDown control allows more than one decimal separators?

I don't see a NumericUpDown control there. You cast sender to Textbox, and a textbox will certainly take whatever you type into it. Are you casting a NUD to a Textbox?

The .Text property in a NUD...
