What is a problem to replace IDropTarget by general subclassing of parent (main) form's window?
Messages are automatically redirected from child controls to a main form.

You also have another method of walkaround the problem:

    - 2. Non-elevated visible
    + Implement IPC

Maybe, you don't need to create a new window. I don't remember exactly.
What window do you need (drag?) drop functionality for? Is it a form or single control on it? What type of objects to accept?...

  17. Re: No troll. What are the (legitimate) reasons people are still using VB6 ?

Let's be clear. Every program is dependency needed, e.g. kernel32.dll
So, if it is "been built into the OS" as a part of fresh (not updated) OS, we can call it "no need dependency".
  18. Re: No troll. What are the (legitimate) reasons people are still using VB6 ?

    - easy to code simple things.
    - no dependencies needed (like .NET, MS VC++ ...).
    - wide range OS compatibility in one EXE (Win 2k-10).
    - little size of program.
    - fast execution.

  26. Re: How to make modeless window to be topmost relative to parent only?

    ohh, nice, Elroy. It's work.

Previously I tried almost the same: I used:

    In real task, I'm using
