  1. Re: Write an empty value for a Entry (for ini file)

No idea why you would need blank values in the file.
I typically use the API routine to read ini files and have it set to return a default value which is passed to the read routine and returned if...
  2. Re: setting RecordsetClone.RecordCount in a form in code

You do not set the recordcount. That is a value that indicates how many records are present. To change it you must add or remove records from the recordset in question.
    If under some conditions you...

Re: Label over Graphical CheckBox ?

Labels always go behind other controls. You need to either relocate the label or place it in a container that can appear above the graphic or make the text part of the graphic.
  4. Re: On Error GoTo label -- When exactly is 'Resume' required?

You don't need that nxtitem label in your loop.

Within your error handler You can use Resume to try the same line that errored again or Resume Next to move the the line after the error and...
  5. Re: We are trying to migrate a VB5 program (50k Lines) to VB6 encountering multiple e

Threed32.ocx and the proper reg entries are in that tools folder I mentioned along with other controls that shipped with VB5 and are not installed in VB6 by default. I generally just install them all...
  6. Re: We are trying to migrate a VB5 program (50k Lines) to VB6 encountering multiple e

You really shouldn't have any issues compiling a VB5 program under VB6.
There is a tools folder on the VB6 cd which contains some ocx and reg files for VB5 compatibility. some of the controls that...

Re: Adding Group by ID to a query

Good point, order by would make more sense.
  8. Re: I want to ask the user to login only English text ??

That isn't really different both are about entering data into a text box. It doesn't matter if it is a login, a password, the name of your favorite sports team or whatever.
    As for (in English) I...
  9. Re: How's too of making a compressed file, of some sorts

You could not even get a decent quality screen shot compressed to 100 bytes.
  10. Re: How's too of making a compressed file, of some sorts

    Total fiction
  11. Re: How's too of making a compressed file, of some sorts

The add in mentioned is for adding to the res file. It is not a compression utility and as mentioned a couple of times already in this thread those MKV and many other video format files are already...

Re: List.list box without word wrap rules

A list box is meant to hold a simple list of items. Your case sounds like a Grid or flex grid would be the better choice as they are meant to handle multiple columns and multiple rows, the rows and...
  13. Re: How's too of making a compressed file, of some sorts

I would not recommend putting movie files in a res file. All you are really doing is hiding the movie while inflating the size of the exe and you will find that you have very little room in the res...

Re: Getting error code 429 on package build

What active x componets are you using in the project that is causing the problem that are not in the projects that have no issue? Odds are that is where the problem is.

  15. Re: [RESOLVED] VB6: Question - best alternative to a settings.ini file?

I use ini files more often than not. In the event that would not do then I either use a database or my own custom rolled file, either with a UDT and RA, a variable binary file or just a plain old...

Re: List.list box without word wrap rules

Use a different control. List boxes are meant to be one line per item.
  17. Re: Datagridview Delete a record with an icon

Yeah I was thinking that there was some built in method as well. Been ages since I used the control but seem to remember it having properties for allow delete and allow add as options.
    In recent...
  18. Re: Activated a command button once a file list box is loaded data

Not sure what you mean by "when a File List Box is loaded" In programing terms loading would mean that it is memory but you seem to be referring to the contents of the list rather than the list. You...
  19. Re: Datagridview Delete a record with an icon

You can use something like shown in post #2 to confirm the correct cell has been activated then

    Rs.Delete
to delete the active row where rs is the name of your underlying recordset.
    ...
  20. Re: Datagridview Delete a cell with an icon

It seems like you are wanting to delete a row rather than a cell.
You can do that by calling the method of the under lying recordset object.

Re: Red backcolor for all text boxes

I would also suggest setting the forecolor to white if you are going with red background. The default black can be hard to read on red.

Re: Getting errors on windows 10

Manually create the file and place it there and it may work which is probably what was done on the other system. The code shown should fail on any version of Windows if that file is not present.

Re: Getting errors on windows 10

The code would throw an error on the mkdir function if that...

Re: Vb6.0 project is not responding

Sounds like you have some sort of long running blocking code in there at start up. A loop would be the first guess but need to see some code to really have much of an idea.

Re: Recordset - Use () in Field Name

Have you considered using the field index number?

AccessADORS![RodDiameter] = oRS(x) for example where x is the index number of the field in question.
  28. Re: [RESOLVED] suggestion to write 5 vales per line from an array

  29. Re: FIND part of string in field AND REPLACE

  31. Re: suggestion to write 5 vales per line from an array

You can use UBound() to see how many items are in the array. But yeah if you want to write 5 per line then you should make sure to have five elements in the array even if some of them are empty

Re: problem vb6 package wizard in win 10

  33. Re: Is it possible to imitate the same program by programming Visual Basic 6?

IMO The answer is yes and no. Yes you can mimic the functionality and no you can not mimic the actual program. VB6 writes 32 bit Windows programs. It does not do DOS programs.

Re: problem vb6 package wizard in win 10

What makes you think it is 16 bit? That file setupsp6.exe runs just fine on windows 10. BTW VB6 is 32 bit, there is no 16bit version nor is there any 64 bit version.
I have that VS6SP6B.exe and on...
  35. Re: How can I import some files into file list box

Re: Returning to VB after 20 years

The code syntax of VB3 will work in VB6 but VB3 used 16 bit VBX controls. VB6 uses 32 bit OCX controls. VB4 had the ability to convert 16 bit projects to 32 but VB 5 and 6 are 32 bit only so...

Re: Returning to VB after 20 years

VB3 was pretty dead already back in 97. 16 bit apps in general are pretty much dead as well, Even 10 years ago many system were restricted to not allow 16 bit apps to run.
