Re: Call song files to List Box

You do not need the drive list nor the directory list unless you want to use those to select the drive and folder.
You just have to set the path on the filelist box to the folder you want it to...

Re: Call song files to List Box

I'm not really sure what you are asking but if you want to add items to a list box then you have to write code to add each of those items one by one to the list box. You can get a list of files using...

Re: Call song files to List Box

Well if you want to use a listbox rather than a file list box then you have to write some code to get the file names and add them to the list box. The Dir$() function can help you with this.
  4. Re: [RESOLVED] Type Mismatch problem regarding an If Else statement

Yep. I used to use them in GWBasic back in the day. I think they may have been in Commodore Basic as well but memory is a bit more foggy on that one.
  5. Re: [RESOLVED] Type Mismatch problem regarding an If Else statement

So does the DefInt and the $, # and other type identifiers.

    Re: Lynx ComboBox 2

Do you need multiple columns? It looks like just using a single column with a fixed font would give you the appearance you seem to be going for there.
  7. Re: [RESOLVED] Type Mismatch problem regarding an If Else statement

You can also use the old Define statement though I can't remember it well, been over 20 years since I used it but it is still there in VB6.

Personally, I usually dim one variable per line and also...
  8. Re: [RESOLVED] Type Mismatch problem regarding an If Else statement

Actually you are not using strings though you should be.

Dim V, B, Msgxyza as String, x As New form2
    is the same as

Dim V as variant, B as variant, Msgxyza as String, x As New form2
    To get...
  9. Re: Type Mismatch problem regarding an If Else statement

    The proper syntax would be

    If V<>"" and B<>"" then

    Re: IDE Question

Can't say I have ever saw that in VB6 or 5 for that matter though I have used 6 a lot longer than I used 5.
  11. Re: one more xvoice (text-to-speech) question

It is not something I installed, just a basoc onstall of VB6 Enterprise edition on Windows 10
    C:\Windows\System32\Speech\Common\sapi.dll

I looked and it is there on my Windows 7 system also

    On...
  12. Re: one more xvoice (text-to-speech) question

Re: How to control mouse speed

Mouse movement speed is set in the mouse driver. Most people would have it set so they do not have to move it far to go anywhere on the screen. I think if it were slowed down to the point of getting...

Re: Reference a .NET DLL in VB5

But you could just build the exe using VB6 and place whatever code needed directly into your main program. No need to add a layer of complexity.

Re: Reference a .NET DLL in VB5

Trying to figure out what you mean by use it as a wrapper? VB6 can load and compile VB5 projects without issue. I had lots of VB5 projects when I moved to 6 and did not have to do anything to any of...
  16. Re: Type Text Box In Form1 and Copied It to Form 2, Then Next Run Only Form 2 is App

As was mentioned earlier you can create a module and in that module create a sub main() then make that your startup. In sub Main you add code to check for and read your file. If it does not exist...
  17. Re: one more xvoice (text-to-speech) question

I found very little online related to xvoice.dll. I did find a brief mention of it being a limited wrapper around a MS api but no additional info as to what it supports it how to use it.
    Do you have...

Re: Need help with for next loop

Well one way is you could create a little sub routine that adds the item to the list. In that sub you would loop through the list and see if the item is already there. If it is not there then add it...
  21. Re: How to save and read it back to last save (text file)

To read a line from a file that was written using Print # you would open the file for input and use the Line Input# method.
  22. Re: How do I add combobox items more quickly?

I edited my post above ^ after testing it here I saw that there was no increase in speed.
  23. Re: How do I add combobox items more quickly?

Setting .Visible=False while loading items then back to true once all are loaded should help to some extent.

Edit: My mistake. No increase on the combo box speed using this trick, likely because...

  28. Re: Connecting to Access 2003 (ADO) Table in VB6 code

btw I generally set the entire connection string as a variable rather than just the data source so a different provider can be used if needed without rebuilding the exe.
  29. Re: Connecting to Access 2003 (ADO) Table in VB6 code

The second one you have single quotes around the data source. The first one does not.

Both have a & that doesn't need to be there.

    Try it like this

    dbADO1.ConnectionString =...

  33. Re: List Box Standard VB6.0 and List Box Help Vista XP (Index) Difference

Again the max list index is always listcount-1 If there...
  34. Re: List Box Standard VB6.0 and List Box Help Vista XP (Index) Difference

I'm not sure what you have in the list or what problem you are having for sure.
Keep in mind that ListIndex is 0 based. List count is the number of items it the list.

So if you have 3 items in...
  35. Re: Why is VB6 Edit-And-Continue function so good in comparison to VB.NET?

Yes I know VB6 is 32 bit but Windows 7 64 uses quite a bit of that ram. I always go with at least 8gb for a 64 bit system but yes there is something else going on. I have never saw VB6 perform that...

  37. Re: Why is VB6 Edit-And-Continue function so good in comparison to VB.NET?

As for the edit and continue. VB6 I think compiles each routine as it is called so you can have quite a lot of freedom in editing a routine so long as the current code execution point is not within...
  38. Re: Why is VB6 Edit-And-Continue function so good in comparison to VB.NET?

32 bit systems work fine with 4gb. Any more ram is a waste in a 32bit system.

The system I was referring to may have additional problems. It started blue screening a while back. After much trial...

  40. Re: Why is VB6 Edit-And-Continue function so good in comparison to VB.NET?

As far as speed goes there is a huge difference in just about any program that was designed when PCs had 8 megs of ram and a 200mhz processor vs the ones designed for modern systems.

    That said I...
