  1. Re: VB6: Question - Message Queue Method

The vb6-native way of doing a queue without getting too fancy would be to use a collection of strings.

    Dim colMessages As Collection
    Set colMessages = New Collection

  2. Re: updating a query based on another table or tables

  5. Re: CRYSTAL REPORT 8.5 VIEW NOT SHOWING IN WINDOWS 7 & WINDOWS 8.1 Run-Time Error 20

  9. Re: [RESOLVED] Sporatic err 380, Invalid Property Value, but only in compiled exe

Just for basic error reporting, do you have an error handler on the routine that is likely to be failing? Put a line number on each line before compiling and report/log the Erl variable.

    Re: Windows 10 Look?

On the same topic, is there a "modern" way to style the tab control? Those can easily add lots of excess borders.
  16. Re: How to diagnose a crash - apparent incorrect asynchronous behavior?

One of the TCP controls that I use does this on Send, it might be for a similar reason. I don't remember if it is the Winsock.ocx SendData or some 3rd-party one though.

    Re: Simple alias query

Not quite true, you can't use column aliases in the select, you can only define them there. But table aliasing is fine anywhere, and that's all Peekay needs:

    Totally untested:

    SELECT CC.ID,...

  20. Re: I keep getting this error (Visual Basic has stopped working)

As a workaround, try enabling a timer in cmdExit, that then does the "Unload Me" when it fires. This will hopefully allow your InkEdit to handle the keypress before the form unloads.

  23. Re: Migrating from Win xp x32 to Win Server 2012 R2

If it's complaining about MSVBVM50.DLL, then VB6 should have nothing to do with your problem - it's from VB5.
  24. Re: tearing at "circular dependencies between modules" in ActiveX project

I wouldn't edit that path. Windows resolves system32 to syswow64 automatically when you run a 32-bit program. But then 32-bit OS installs are so rare nowadays that it probably doesn't matter.

    As...

  26. Re: websocket receiving and sending data larger than 65535?

Somehow I don't think you'll be receiving or sending data larger than 2 billion bytes.
  27. Re: websocket receiving and sending data larger than 65535?

Well I don't know anything about this protocol, but VB longs are 32-bit variables, so the line
    CopyMemory c(0), length, 8
    should be something like:
    CopyMemory c(4), length, 4
    instead.
  28. Re: Struggling with OpenProcess: IDE works, compiled doesn't

The first step to try if an API call fails is usually to call GetLastError afterwards so you know a little bit about why it failed. INVALID_PARAMETER vs ACCESS_DENIED, etc.
