    Re: Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB problem

You don't mention how you deployed ACE to the machines. However it sounds like you are using 64-bit Windows 10 and failed to deploy 32-bit ACE to support VB6 programs.

    The ole32 call is probably...

Re: Some thoughts on VB6 forum

Well, I think people get bored due to the low activity here. That can put them in a mood to lash out just to say something.

People have moved on. Some of this might be away from VB, VB.Net, and...

    Re: Collection, array and database

Often the culprit is a poor choice of data structures and data representations that consume too much memory. Or perhaps a lousy algorithm choice that requires everything to be "in hand" to process...
  13. Re: SetMenuItemBitmaps ...LR_CREATEDIBSECTION (Transparent Background)

Menu rendering does not alphablend those bitmaps.

If you want to use color bitmaps you will have to simulate this. Typically you need to create a memory DC, select a color Bitmap into it, paint...

  15. Re: Problem with getting raw image bytes from WIA

WIA 2.0 does not provide an elegant solution for this. It relies strongly on its Vector class, and pixel operations for ARGB data are VERY slow using the version of WIA 2.0 provided in Windows now. ...
  16. Re: [RESOLVED] VB6: Question - Databases, where do I start?

There are other strong options too, for example Java. And as a transition we have the B4x products which are VB-like Basic built atop the JVM and Java libraries.

    Re: About array

Micro optimization is not a virtue. Simple UDTs are covered in warts. A proper UDT must be published in a typelib, and then it gets accessed via IRecordInfo instances.

    Avoid UDTs.

The other issue is the testing.

Re: change vb6 splash screen user

Don't worry, it is easy to be skeptical. The data is stored in a scrambled format so it wouldn't appear there on casual viewing. It isn't strongly encrypted, but the cipher used isn't very common.

  34. Re: VB6: Question - Databases, where do I start?

Databases aren't mere bags for random data.

Unless your application can make use of relations and aggregation and queries for subsets of the information you probably don't need a database.
