Mmmm... Beer friend me good...

/me drinks no beer
/me not old enough :-\
Not "old enough" either, but sometimes, you can mistake a beer bottle for a soda bottle, its been known to happen...
:D
oh yeah, you yanks have to be 21. hahahahahahahahaha
I'm somewhat proud to be a Canadian--usually--but Canadian beer is something unrivaled when it comes to the liquid **** competition.Quote:

Not in this country!
chris:
"who the hell said we drink warm beer?!?! Warm beer is yuk!"
You live in England. Which is the only country i've heard to serve you warm beer!
But gaffer pointed out to me that not all beer in pomgolia is warm.
My god you'd be crucified up here if you served warm beer!
This guy moved here from England whom i work with and he invited eeryone around for a bbq.
He bought all this beer and just left it out next to the barbie and handed it out when everyone arrived.
Everyone took one sip and almost in chorus was a *pffffffftssssst* "What the **** are your trying to do Bill Poison Us"
Never the less we cleared out his fridge and stuk there beer in there!
:)
Ive been drinking since i was 15..
come to think of it.. i drank more alcohol when i was 15 then right now when i am 21..

Corona ice cold with a lime. Mmmmmm mmmmmm good.
Ashi Super Dry. Great Beer.... Japans number one. Brewed
in Canada.
Dam.... now i need a drink and it's 1:51 in the morning.
That is quite true. Im 28 and i drank more when i was younger.
But had a harder time keeping it in. :p
Where are ye all ? There are people going on about beer with lime in in it for Hecks sake....Quote:
It may be we are meant to mark with our riot and our rest
God's scorn for all men governing.
It may be beer is best.
But we are the people of England; and we have not spoken yet.
G.K Chesterton.
Are there no pureists out there ? Canada having the best beer ?
Eh ? Am I reading this right ??
I'm currently in Amsterdam... Next week in Brussels....
The beer here (Heineken, Groslch, Palm to name but a few)....
is cold, clear, pure and does not contain any limes.....
Now, each country will beleive their beer to be superior thats nationalism's fun side.... but I'm a UK national & I still don't think you can beat the likes of Heineken, Stella, Grolsh etc when served fresh....
Hang on one moment. I voted for warm beer and I don't mind telling the rest of the world that you don't know what you're missing out on.
First let me qualify because when I say beer, I mean real beer, or more precisly, real ale. To educate most of the world (who obviously have no idea what I'm talking about), real ale has flavour. And like red wine, real ale is best drunk at room temperature otherwise you kill the flavour.
OK, when you're drinking some nat's piss of a lager, you need to chill it 'cause it tastes like sh*t otherwise.
Having said that, Real ale is dying out in Britain and it is a shame (being a member of the CAMpaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)). Tasteless lager (not even the good stuff) is taking over in pubs and bars where all people are concerned about is their image and getting drunk. Don't get me wrong though, I like a "good" lager, a nice cool bavarian beer is always a nice treat on a hot summers day.
Anyone who remains unconvinced, come and meet me at this year's Falmouth real ale festival (in Cornwall) and I'll show you what real ale's all about!
I'd be more concerned with the stripper than the temperature of my beer.
If I had a nice warm pint of "Cornish Knocker" in my hand, I wouldn't even notice a stripper walk in!Quote:

mmmmm personally, on the Real Ale front...
Nice pint of London Pride (that's better chilled in my opinion).... or Brakspears Special... nice beer, ale, quality most of it.......
No limes, no fancy stuff.....
But lagers ? Ya cannot tell me that USA/CANADA/AUSTRALIA have even a balls-notion of what real lager is about. Bottled or otherwise.... Budweiser ???? is that a beer ? I thought it was just fizzy water. King of beers my A***E....
Pee
Oh no not another acronym... CAMRA I mean.
Lager must be cold, bitter should be warm or at most cool. But cider's the best, oo arr Jim Lad! Just no dead rats and stuff thanks.
But really guys, drinking beer off off a stripper: what a bloody waste because look how much gets spilt. And it gets all down your shirt and pisses off the Mrs. Unless it's the Mrs stripping of course. (Well we've all got to make a living somehow)
South African Breweries' "Castle Lager" was voted the world's best bottled bevvie last year or maybe the year before. Can't remember where tho': it says so on the tin but I don't have one to hand. (Well I AM at work after all.)
Oops must go, there's another lion in the car park.
You want to try the good old Black Velvet
Vodka & Vimto (discovered it when we ran out of coke)
or the Vodka, martini & lemonade (On the rocks)
Excuse the ig, but what's Vimto- not that stuff you clean the pots-n-pans with is it. It is? Wow, remind me not to pick a fight with you down the local.
And who said Manchester was the real capital anyway :p
Vimto the fruit jucie.
The so called capital is now just a residing place for shonky contruction (Wembley, Millenium Dome). Not bad if you just like to sit in your car for a few hours and 'Eastenders' for gods sake!
Happen I'll take EastEnders over Coronation Street, any day, bah goom.
Beer is best served cold on a sunny terrace in the middle of the old part of the city ... time to stop that sentence :)
Anyway, you are all entitled to your opinions but the best beer is still Belgian beer :) Trust me.
Duvel, Palm, Hoegaarden, Dentergemse, Leffe ...
Aaahhhhh
<------ likes cold beer :) is going to have many of them tonight. :)
ALL you guys are nuts.
Best beer in the world is RatBastard Ale, mildly cooled.
Wonderful!
Have one on me, Chris.
Can I take it you've got a huge beard and always wear wellies? :pQuote:

I never could drink ale (with the possible exception of a pale ale). Beer should be cold and fizzy, golden rather than brown, and - for preference - brewed in Belgium.
Why are people obsessed with 'fizzy' beer? The onyl fizz in beer should be natural fizz provided by the fermentation process. These days, beers are usually pumped full of carbonated gas to artifically fizz them up.Quote:

I must admit though, I like belgium beers like Hoegaarden and Leffe. They are more like what lager should be.
Hey simonm, thought you folk were into the Scrumpy out West there.
Those Belgies make magnificent chokkies, too.
Nothing beats and ice cold lager shandy.
Takes a lot to get pissed though.
And you piss the bed.
Not really. They do make exceedingly fine ales down here though, especially in Cornwall.Quote:

The best place to go for cider is to Brittany or Normandy in France. That really is nice stuff.
Or Big Brother
Didn't bother to read all posts but in case I'm not represented.... cold beer is good, warm beer is bad... warm beer is sold to students thats how bad it is...
USA doesn't really compete with Europe in the beer stakes... whats the best you've got to offer??? Budweiser??
Sorry if this has already been said (as I know it is a popular opinion) :p
As this guy didn't read the previous posts, I shall say it again. NO!!!!!Quote:

OK, If you're talking about lager, that's true. With real ale, if you chill it, you're killing it. If you went to France and tried to chill a bottle of red wine, you'd be lynched! The same goes for England and real ale (except you wouldn't be lynched, people are too busy going around sipping their lager shandies to pay any attention).
err...Much as I hate to admit it, we (in the UK) are in no position to talk, particularly when it comes to lager. I can honestly say that British made lager is amongst the worst in the world. OK, American lager has no taste but that's still one step up from British lager that tastes like nat's piss.Quote:

What lager to we make here? Sh*t like: Carling black label, Carlsberg, Tennants and Heineken. Give me a budweiser any day compared to one of those! :(
no beer here is warm!!!Quote:

I used to live in Germany (well West Germany). They drink warm beer. They even have kinderbier. I kind of think of beer for them is like coffee in America.
'Course, I don't drink beer or coffee. I don't like aquiring tastes. *shrug*
Lager = Cold
Beer (REAL beer, for those non-brits) = Room temperature.
Not warm, room temperature. It should be basically cold but not CHILLED :)
Anyone who drinks beer for "taste and image" should not drink at all..
I may be one of the dinosaurs when i say this.. but i drink to get drunk..
Dilenger4 i agree with you abotu corona!! it is m-m-good :)
Rolling Rock is not bad either.
i think beer is at it's best when it is nearly frozen but still at that drinking stage :)
but when all esle fails... i will have my jack and coke ..
or some southern comfort or scotch.. :) :) :) :)
Once again ! Belgian Beer is by far and by large the best beer a man (or woman) can get.
Try a Hoegaarden, a Palm or even a Stella Artois or Jupiler and then you'll know what good beer tastes like. :p :p
Of course, the percentage of alcohol is higher than most of the other beers but hey, good taste comes with a prize :) :)
And before you start. Yes, I've tried Labatts, Budweiser, some Spanish beer, most of the Dutch errr ... (can't really call it beer. It looks like piss and tastes like it too), Carlsberg, Bitburger and still I say : give me a Belgian beer any day of the week.
We may not be any good at all the rest but we know how to brew a beer :) :) :)
And now .... let the flaming begin :p :p
You got any Hoegaarden spare? Lovely stuff :D
Only one ? :p
Okay then, I'll have yours :p
Did you know that we have beer bread and beer soup ? Hah !
In case you wonder, I don't touch that stuff. It's lethal.
As for the Hoegaarden, 1 l or 1/2 l ? :p
(Make sure that you can handle it though but somehow I don't think that will be a problem :p)
Beer soup?
I'll take 2L ;)
2 L or "a sip" as we call it :D coming up !
*gulps*
Mmmmmmm :)
 Er... help! mummmy!!!!!!! :o :o :(
:D
want some beer soup too ? :p :p :p
Ummm....I don't think the hospital will let it past their biohazard checks :D
Funny ...
It looks like hospital food, taste like dry leaves and smells like a stool sample :D
It wouldn't be any different from the Christmas party leftovers anyway. Especially not after a drunken doctor threw up in the kitchen. :p
Simon - I'm in complete agreement with you mate, There are some lovely ales down your way :), If your in my neck of the woods tryy out some (For the uncouthed these are real name's) Spitfire, Speckled hen or Bishop's Finger. Made by a brewery called sheppards's neame and goes down a treat :D
I'll repeat againg what simon said as I tisn't sinking in, what us brit's class as beer is either "Bitter" or ales, want the rest of the world class beer as is what we and the rest of europe call Larger ans we do server them cold :)
"beer bread" and "beer soup"
oh boy!! hehe
ian i like your avatar of yourself... ;)
Simon:
I think i depends on the climate. We chill our ales as well!
I cant even fathom drinking a warm beer up here in Oz you just cant do it. Room temperature is 30degrees + usually(thats not in summer) so you may as well just friggin well boil it and serve it with a friggin piece of fruit pudding!
I spose in England with the weather bieng pretty crappy all the time the story is different and warm beer is excepted.
;)
all:
Lime in a beer what do you but a friggin flower in it as well!
I'm lucky there a 3 breweries with 15 mins drive of where i live. Not major ones just medium sized. Plus every 2nd house brews there own anyways.
FatBoyPee:
"Ya cannot tell me that USA/CANADA/AUSTRALIA have even a balls-notion of what real lager is about"
Matie your joking right becuase i cant be taking anyone who makes that remark serious! Australia cant brew a tasty lager i nearly fell off my chair.
My god i hope your joking!!
I have now...
Yes, you're right, British do not have any good beer to offer, thats when you pretend to be European and attempt to take credit for some of the best stuff - eg. Duvel... hats off to the Belgians!
The belgians!!!!!
Yeah some of there beer is good but i dont think as good as everyone makes it out to be!
Beacon
Yes, it probably is a lot to do with climate. On a cold winter night in England, going down to your local pub and sitting round the fire eating steak and kidney pie and a nice pint of Ale by your side, the last thing you want to do is chill it.Quote:
I think i depends on the climate. We chill our ales as well!
Well you may be right but I only hope you have more to offer than that ****e you have as your avatar (fosters) and the only other one we've heard of over here: Castlemaine XXXX.Quote:
Matie your joking right becuase i cant be taking anyone who makes that remark serious! Australia cant brew a tasty lager i nearly fell off my chair.
IanPBaker
Yeah, I've tried all of these and they are very nice. They serve Spitfire in a pub round the corner and you can get Speckled hen all over the place. I've only ever seen Bishop's Finger in bottles though.Quote:
...Spitfire, Speckled hen or Bishop's Finger.
In Cornwall, I would recommend 'Cornnish Knocker', 'Betty Stoggs' and 'Kiddley Wink' by Skinner's Brewrey and 'Doom Bar' by Sharp's brewrey.
Got a promotional Spitfire t-shirt and on the backer it got "No Fokker comes close" :D
Nah matie we've got thousands of beers probably 10's of thousands of brands!
Common beers Redback, Crown lager, VB, EB, Cartlon Cold, Cascade, Coopers list goes on and on.
Fosters is a un-common beer in Australia.
As we say if you want a fosters go overseas!
And if you want a pub crawl you have to go to kalgoorlie in WA. Why becuase the main street at last count had 12 or 15 pubs in less than a 1km stretch.
