Well, what is your personal fav? I use UltraDev 4 because I only need relatively simple stuff...and InterDev I now hate...bitterly. :D
And who's excited about ASP.NET?

I just use Notepad unless I need code insight, then I use interdev.
Im using an editor called gaspy. Its pretty cool. And crackable.
notepad for the code, then throw it into Dreamweaver to make the HTML look pretty. Never really thought about using Ultradev. I might give it a go...
Homesite.
XMLSpy
I flip between Homesite and Interdev. Homesite's great for HTML, etc, but Interdev has the ASP or Javascript code insight (otherwise it'd be pretty mediocre).
I am still trying to find the ultimate program that does everything I want and is reliable (never will happen)
Coding:
Microsoft Interdev 6 with MSDN Library (BRILLIANT HELP ALONG WITH VB-WORLD OF COURSE!)
Faithful Notepad
HTML:
Macromedia Dreamweaver Ultradev 4 (DOESN'T ADD LOTS OF PROPIETRY TAGS)
Would be interesting if VB-World had a polling booth for this sort of topic.
Thanks
InterDev, but just for its source section.
Hey, anyone else notice that the close to free beta of VS.NET can be used just like Interdev can to do normal ASP?

Not really... :p
i use coldfusion studio for no apparent reason....
Interdev. Never got to grips with UltraDev, but I use fireworks for some stuff.
And when the code all goes t!ts up, I open the browser and paste the source into EditPlus
I personally use Notepad, although at work I have to use InterDev. I have some serious issues with InterDev though so I would really like another option, unfortuntly I don't get that option at work.
Michael
I use notepad and interdev, but i am always looking for new alternatives. :D
I can't believe people are still using Notepad after the advent of so many souped-up text editors like EditPlus.
Well, i will check out edit plus. The only editior i liked like that though was one for linux. Notepad is just so simple, thats what makes it good.
I use EditPad,....It is the best. A tabbed notepad. You can have as many files open and working on like 10000 files at once. get it at http://www.syn2k.net/ in the downloads section.
All right, i'll give it a try.
Is that your website?
Does editpad have syntax highlighting?
EditPad...forgot about that. It doesn't have syntax highlighting, but it is still really nice - the simpleness of Notepad in an MDI program.
And you pay for it with a postcard
hehe, cardware. :D I remember this one program for the calculator was that way.
I use TSE (The Semware Editor) for all of my source code editing.
Though, I will look into UltraDev to see if I can step though my code (like F8 in VB).
InterDev - but I don't use any of the FrontPagish features. I just use it as an editor and project manager.
Paul
thats what i do too.Quote:

Hey, does anyone know any good editors for PHP?
Well, I'd say Notepad, but that's good for everything ;)
I don't know any editor specifically for PHP, but I'd be interested in one.
Most jazzy text editors (like editplus) have color coding schemes for the most common languages: perl, java, php, asp, html, etc.
If that's what you mean by php editor.
yeah, i guess so. anything like code insight would be great. :D
Notepad
No Notepad!!! EditPlus
if i am going to use ANY fancy text editor
id rather use MS Interdev, love the popupmenus on typing the DOT
but for quick, easy solutions
NOTHING beats notepad
How do EditPlus or UltraEdit32 NOT beat notepad? :rolleyes:Quote:

InterDev for coding ASP, JavaScript, DHTML;
Dreamweaver for making boring HTML like Tables etc
Regards
Both Allaire Homesite and ASPN Komodo will color code PHP. ASPN Komodo can be configured to debug PHP, too.
Nah, becuase it is too hard for them to attack a linux machine. Microsoft puts in so many security leaks that it is very easy for anyone to hack.:D :DQuote:

Does that mean we should use WMP to play MP3s instead of Winamp because WMP comes with Windows?

I just tried out editplus and love it. the syntax customization is sweet, along with all the automation you can customize.
I recommend.
Told ya!
actually i use wmp :)Quote:

WMP is garbage especially on ME. It is just another throw-together to try and control our computing lifestyle. quicktime or realplayer are much better for video.
3rd party tools rule!
Oh god. If Ford makes its own CD player and puts it in its car without asking for you, do you complain? You can simply remove it and replace it with a better stereo.Quote:

Textpad. It does everything the other editors do, and it has the great little code database in the left hand corner(Clip library), where I whack little bits of standard code. Plus it supports the VI keyboard layout, which is always good.
Start with the design with either and HTML editor like FP 2000 or Dreamweaver..
After that use Visual Interdev..for coding purposes.

You asked for a way that notepad was better, that is one way.Quote:

WMP is better in the same respect. I never said the others had less features, or were better/worse for development, just that they came installed.
Michael
Anything that is basic in design is good, but youll always want something better.. I used notepad until I hunted down textpad, similairly I used wmp, until I wrote my own. And dont dis wmp ;) Its excellent for watching movies and listening to single mp3s, its much faster at loading than winamp, and it is by far the best movie viewer, mainly because it plays everything(Except RA, but there just **** quality anyhow)..
On the note of movies, has anyone seen a divx dvd rip in the new variable compression rate?? Pretty amazing stuff..
