Just finished an interesting articule about God, i.e he don't exist because it is impossible to prove that he/she/it exists. Applying the same logic it would equally be impossible to prove that the earth is round.
Think about it, what actually proof is there that the earth is not flat. Pictures from space. So you believe in what space agencies are telling you? etc.
well if the sun come up on one side and then it goes down the other side then we must have two suns. because by the time it took the first sun to reach the edge the other sun would have to be rising up the other side.

Ok, so if the earth is flat, that is to say that gravity does not eminate from a infinitismally small point, but rather equally from a plane? And it only affects what is exactly perpendicular to it?

If you watch the moon for a while you'll see it's different phases. The only explanation that some parts of moon don't shine most of the time, is that it only reflects and we only see the part that is currently reached by the light of the sun.

Or you could argue that when I phone my brother in Scotland he is always 7 hours ahead of us daylight wise, therefore, if the sun was directly above him at mid-day we would be able to see it from Canada, yet we can't therefore the earth must be curved or he must be on a different planet.
Or he could be lying, which thinking about it is not that far out of the question.
Okay so how about this. I can get on a plane at midday in Scotland, Fly for 8 hours to Canada and it's still approx mid-day...... unless they have invented a time machine, then this would only be explained by a non-flat earth (hell it might be cuboid for all I know)!

Sorry, but I have to go with the Earth is round idea because some old Greek guy (Aristotle?) got some Egyptians to dig a couple of wells and measure the distance between them and the shadow that falls on the bottom... and well... you get the idea.
I'm sorry, but what was the method they used to try to prove god that would work here? Digging holes?
Lol what you're all ignoring is that countless poeple have sailed around the world....And no they didnt fall of the edge. Besides...space agencies dont have the motivation nor the means to devieve the whole damn world.
The world could still be flat and be like the PacMan board, with wraps. If you go off in one direction, you enter again in the other direction.
But, there is that problem with the holes again. Which, if you had a single point of gravity somewhere behind the flat Earth, then you would be deceived when you dig the holes.
Warps huh. God created up in his own image, man! That probably means that he was lazy just like us, which in addition to explaining why the world is screwed up, also explains why the world is a sphere. I mean why bother with all that warp crap if you can just make the world round.
Heh... like there is a god. And even if there is, if he can create the universe, create man, and resurrect the Mesiah, making wraps is easy.

Exactly, you can't prove that there are no unicorns. You also can't prove that we aren't on a disc. It is possible that no one has climbed over the rim, yet. It is also possible that someone has, and you can't prove that he didn't.
So you can't prove that no one rode a unicorn over the edge.

Pythagoras noted that the shadow of the Earth falling on the Moon during a lunar eclipse was always curved and the amount of the curvature was always the same. The only object that always casts a circular shadow regardless of its orientation is a sphere.

I don't think Jethro really believes that the earth is flat. I think he's just trying to prove that it's hard to prove that the earth isn't flat. It seems that he failed at that.
Remember when you (Beacon) were saying that you were dead and challenged me to prove otherwise? (I'd say I did a good enough job :D) I think Jethro's doing something like that.
