Here's where I work :)

Would anyone like fries with that,
SD
In all seriousness, this is where I work, but I don't know if the link will work (it's one of those panoramic view thingies).
http://www.discoveralberta.com/Photo...s/10-2446.html
My office block is the furthest on the left. I'm on the 18th floor (weird numbering system they have here. Ground floor is 1st floor etc., but they skip the 13th Floor i.e. It goes from 12 to 14. Are the people on the 14th floor really so stupid that they don't realise they are really on the 13th!!!) Mad as a hatter.
SD
And this is where I want to be working. Banff (the town in the picture is about an hours drive away in the Rockies).
http://www.banffgondola.com/cam/images/best.jpg
I'm going there this weekend for some fun :)
SD
SD - you work on the streets?
I wont ask any more....
:D
Just kidding...
I have always wondered why no 13 floor...(on the elevators)
like you said..its still the 13th floor! just some idiot put the wrong numbers up!!
Re: The 13th Floor. I'm frightened to tell the Canadians in case they haven't noticed yet :)
I tell you, it so hot out today I wish I was working the streets... er, okay, I didn't really say that out loud did I?
SD
LOL
you could beg passerby's to use the cig lighter socket in their car for your laptop....
i wonder how they implement that:
Code:|-16| |------------------|
|-15| |------------------|
|-14| |------------------| <-part that floats
| | <- elevatorshaft
|-12| |------------------|
|-11| |------------------|
|-10| |------------------|
|-09| |------------------|
Big Big opposing magnets?
yeah, i thought about magnetic leviation too but that's a bit too expensive. there must be some kind of trick involved, you know with mirrors and stuff
Maybe there is a 13th floor, but the elevator/lift just passes it by. It could be just lying empty gathering dust.
Maybe Canadians have difficulty counting with the big numbers (i.e. more than 10) and get confused.
We had a fire alarm in this building a while back. The tannoy message was "There has been a fire alarm on the 23rd floor. Will the 23rd floor only, evacuate. I repeat, will the 23rd floor only, evacuate."
Now it's a 28 storey building. You can bet your ass that if I was on the 24th (or above) floor I'd be evacuating after a message like that. It makes you wonder about some people.
SD
And this is where I'll be spending a good chunk of this afternoon :)
http://www.ceilis.com/slide_show/images/ceilis_out1.jpg
Have fun,
SD
If everyone from 22-24 had to evacuate there would be some trafic with the elevators, i think, so maybe they had to evacuate from the most worst zone first.
yeah i think you can have all the fun, i'm too busy doing nothing these days
....any one have my data cable for my camera? my IR link is dead :(
Desk? Whats that?.........oh! you mean the mess that I sit in front of :D here it is.....
That last picture was just obviously an advert for 'Orangina'. I demand the name of the drink to be pixelated.
BTW Dr. Pepper rulez...
Dr pepper is cool, but that bottle only had water in it, I dont drink Orangina :pQuote:

Nice desk Mark. 2 computers, 2 monitors? Damn, I only have one, well..2 but the other one became my sister's when I got a new one .
I don't have a camera so that's me scuppered for sending a photo...although the size of my monitor is just embarrassing :(
I have: scanner, 14" monitor, tie, 2 cans of paint, can of lynx, CDs, big pile of paper & school books, wallet, coat hanger, siemens c35i charger, 6 VHS videos, 1 divers' knife, cadbury's miniature heroes pot with bits of kit for my PC in, large dice, screwdriver, cotton buds, 3d glasses, desk tidy, pot of caster sugar.
:D
good idea parksie, i don't have a camera either
19" monitor, big pile of school books and even bigger pile of papers, head phones, speakers, some piles of cd's, an empty cup, an alarm watch, mp3player, pile of receipts, some screwdrivers, mic, 52 athlon stickers, hauppage remote control, some old batteries, some 1.3Ah Ni metal hydride batteries, a pile of bad sectors and startup disks
you have a remote?!!?!?! :) COOL!Quote:

Umm... my room is just full of crap. My bed takes up about a third of the whole room, other than that I have a suitcase, a load of boxes with CDs and books in, a box of electrical stuff, some more boxes stacked up with a TV on top, small desk with computer on, some shelves with more books and CDs and a stereo, and some box files.
Here's where I work.

I've had a Nomad II for quite a while now. It's served me well.
I'll post my "workstation" (:D) if I have time
And I have a 22" monitor. Can ya beat that? :D

I lost my data cable too, Do you have a comfact flash card? if you have a laptop you should get a card reader...fast and it cost me £3.90 !!!!
Getting a data cable for my phone soon :)
As soon as my 17" gets fixed (well...when I bother to phone tech support ) I'll be back using that.

Mike: Hope you have more luck with your data cable than I do, Couldnt get it to work propery :(
I have an MP3 player... nice piece of tech that.
The Creative Jukebox - here - holds 6 gig! Yay! It should do @ the price tho :-) But it's value for money - 5p per meg :-)
I have an mp3 player but it runs out of batteries before I can play the whole thing! sorry my webcam is attached to the computer so I can't send a picture of it :(

I normally use my 21" screen for programming, but use a projection screen for playing unreal, microsoft combat flight sim and watching DVD's. I only have enough wall to display about 15' of screen, but we have had it up to 20'.:D
SD
My desk is quite small at home. I have a load of empty CD cases in my desk shelves (preferring to keep them in CD holders) A bottle of half empty JD, my Saitek Cyborg Jostick, Crappy 15" monitor that is gonna be replaced soon. My mobile phone, a BNC connecter, two sattelite speakers, a sub-woofer, a 5 port Hub, some Purple coloured stones (can't remember the name, but apparently are good for dispelling bad energies caused by computers.... don't ask crazy g/f). A colur print cartrigde and a Tankard that my skittles team got for being runners up in our division, Deodorant, A Troll that is dressed like Elvis, My katana sits on the top shelf of the Desk, one of those irritating ballbearing games that are nearly immpossible to do (you know where you have to get them all in place), the Current fantasy book i am reading. I'd have my Plasma ball on here as well if it could fit. :D
Anyone know of a good webcam that isn't all that expensive?
My camera was $80 (US) about 1 year ago...its an Intel. They aren't too expensive. :)
Well, I would have to say that Chenko did beat me with his plasma display... :DQuote:

About the player, yes, CD's hold more mp3's than my smartmedia 64MB card (which looks considerably sexier though :D), but it makes the device big.
Xenonic_Rob, did you say you have a Jukebox??? I bought my Nomad just before they published the Box. If I had waited for a while longer, I just might have one now. Since my Nomad II can only carry that content of one cd...

Hi Katie!!!!!!!!!
Could I please have one of those blueprints for the F16's... please...please...please... ??!!??
Thanks in advance!

The two PCs are both NT4 Workstations
My main PC is the one on the right.
I installed JBuilder4 about a month ago and when I'm using it everything else grinds to a halt so I dusted off a spare one (the one on the left) to run Outlook, access this forum and to run a couple of "Web-based" intranet apps which used to be on my main PC but I moved to ease the load.
The offices at Frank Danes seems to a changed quite a bit since I went for an interview there!! :D:D:DQuote:

Well that is one of my desks at home :p and we built new offices a year ago which we reside in now :p
i decided for a disc player since there's where my mp3's end up anyway. HDDspace is considerably more expensive (yet) and smartmedia is way out of range. Simon is probably kidding about the plasma screen (but who knows)
The plasma screen was a rental at work... I had used it when it was not in use :D well I had to :p
Keddie: Is that a Mp3 cd player....they seam like a good idea, but I dont really like the size... I prefer my Minidisc player, same quality as CD, and it costs 50p - £2 per disc.
yeah it plays audio cd's too (not that i do) it fits fine into the pocket.
i'm not sure how much 2£ is, about 20mk i guess, cd's are 4mk.
F16s? I don't think that Katie deals with that old low tech stuff ;) - she does F22s when she is not on Chit Chat :)Quote:

Any why do you want the blue prints to a fighter, when you can get the ones for a nuclear tactical stealth bomber :D
i thought prefix units were extreemly unusual

BTW which part of Finland are you in kedaman - I know Espoo and Helsinki a little
I've heard that minidisc quality isn't as good as CD quality.
Well they should be matching... anyways, they are still MUCH better than Mp3's :pQuote:

I used to live pretty near to helsinki. BTW we are so going to win the world championship of hockey... :D
Anyway, I think minidiscs are a little hippier than mp3's, although I somehow just think them as something that's not that sophisticated as mp3 players. I really don't know why. But I prefer mp3.
And by the way, I think napster's dead. I went online last night (on napster), and there were something like 9 thousand users online. Of the millions that there once were. I tried searching for that song from the movie "evolution" trailer. "Play that funky music." But no matching songs found. Tried other stuff also, like ANYTHING with artist Iron Maiden. Nothing. NOTHING!! Napster's dead. And who are we to blame? People like the guys of Metallica. "We are about the richest metal band there has ever been, but while our CD sales have only increased during the time of napster, we still want more money from our [crappy] music". Camoon. That is the most un-hip thing I have ever seen a big rock-star do. As someone said. Then lets take Maiden for example. They have their own policy about piracy of their music: "We have enough money. If people like our music, then by all means download it and listen to it". Go british!
Oh, and did you see the MTV [something]awards some time ago. I have seriously never in my whole life seen anything lamer than the anti-napster propaganda that one guy from metallica had got MTV to show. "We are just sharing." Remember that? AND HE PROBABLY THOUGHT HE WAS FUNNY!!!
Actually I never used napster much. Suddenly I am extremely angry.
What the heck lets all be angry for no reason.

I know what you mean about the search facility never finding anything. They've blocked out loads of key phrases (like "Iron Maiden" for instance) so that they never return any results. You have to basically just search for something like "Iron" or just "Maiden" and hope it doesn't block it. If you want AC/DC stuff you can't type in "AC DC", you have to put in "AC" and then search through all the crap you get to find soem AC/DC tracks.
