I bought my first handgun last Friday. I bought a Glock 23 which is a .40 caliber compact.
Any other glock owners out there?

Do you have a date at the High Noon?
yep!
Be aware, this forum is frequently used by people from all over world (and the US is only a small part of that) and not in all countries guns are beloved as in your home-country!
GUNS GUNS AMERICA GUNS AMERICA!!!
yeah
Have you accidentally misfired it yet?
I havent taken possession of it yet. There is a 10 day holding period in California.
Currently it is difficult to buy any type of gun because everyone is worried that they wont because to purchase them in the future. This gun will be for home protection and I would like to get a CCW. Too many crazy people are surfacing and causing a ruckus. I also would like to get into Law Enforcement in the future.
So the current marketing campaign is working?
I think that second 'because' was supposed to be 'be able'. Still, the statement itself is a bit odd. A fear of future restrictions has generally caused an increase in sales, not a decrease. In fact, ammunition and gun sales are so far up that it is helping out agencies that get Pittman-Roberts funds (a tax on guns and ammunition sales distributed to the states for wildlife management based on the number of hunting license sales, or something like that).
I'm not thrilled with the Glock cause they have a reputation for having an overly sensitive trigger. When you have an ailment named after you (I think it's something like "Glock Leg", which occurs among law enforcement as a result of accidentally shooting yourself in the leg by misfiring while drawing), you are doing something wrong.
It's true. In stores like Cabelas, they'll get in a new shipment of guns, pistols and semi-autos especially, and often times the majority will be sold within a week or two, so if you're trying to find a specific gun, it can be very hard. Ammo is even worse, and if you try buying it they'll put you on a waiting list of several months.
Glocks are actually about the safest, most durable gun for their price, too. Hence why law enforcement favors them. The shooting yourself in the leg is probably your own fault, or a certain model that probably got recalled. Law enforcement where I live uses a Glock 22, which is in .45 instead of .40, but either way it's still a great gun
That's junior :)

Yes ^
This is my first time hearing about "Glock Leg". I have only heard good things about Glocks and how safe they actually are. Im sure it also depends on the type of holster in use. I would think the holsters that hold the gun with pressure on the trigger guard would be more prone to problems.
Glock 22 is .40. Glock 21 is .45. Unless of course they swapped out the barrel.
What unfortunate naming conventions. I guess there will never be a .22 Glock, cause what would they name it? Glock 40, perhaps?
I also pickup my gun tonight at 18:51. Woo!
Trying to add image from my ipad. See if this works...
hahahahaa... so whom do you want to shoot first? :p
Does Glock translate as Bell?
So....did the salesman give you his glock'n spiel?

The shortage in ammo is in part because the U.S. Government is buying so much for DHS. 1.7 billion rounds or so. It is, in my opinion, an underhanded and unjustifiable way to slow down the market. Our tax dollars at work!
And a shotgun didn't? What were you shooting, birdshot?
I thought guns were for self defense? What was the squirrel packing????
Does the gamey meat taste better when you serve it some fava beans and a nice Chianti?
Fava beans are broad beans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fava_beans
Chianti is a wine from the Chianti region in central Tuscany Italy (Located in central Italy along the Tyrrhenian coast): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chianti
I have heard that the combination should go very well with the game you target in your hunting expeditions. Perhaps you could try the recipe next hunting trip?
If nothing else at least try cooking the liver(s) that way.

What is it with Florida? I lived there for five years, and it was a truly weird place, but there have been some very strange stories coming from that state of late. Using a bb to fire a cartridge isn't that bad an idea, in theory, though it appears that the guy didn't think through the role of the chamber in the whole firing sequence. Still, it was Florida...again. It's right up there with the guy eating the mans face, the guy dying from choking on bug parts, and Jacob Roman.
At the end of the article it states "There was no report on the squirrel’s condition."
I'd say by the looks it dined on a feast of peanuts!

I was making a pun about liter and litter. Somehow, you managed to get your butt into it.
Egad, now we're having a butts throwdown?
Not sure I want to conjure a mental image of that.

Law enforcement isn't a euphemism for shooting people who scare you.
Except in LA...
