I usually don't reply to the real easy questions that have been asked hundreds of times.
I don't understand, why can't people just search for their answers? They will find a lot of what they are looking for, all they have to do is be creative and search!
Hate when people do that, so I don't even bother to reply, but that's just me .
Well said Matthew. Although I may make some sarcastic comment like "*yawn* asked loads of times. Look at this..." and give them a URL or something.
Copyright infringment now eh? That's low man, real low ;)Quote:

I think we should reply whoever is and whenever we know the answer to the question.

Yes, but there are 2 things you must consider if you want to do this. One being the date they were registered and two being their post count. Both of these factors play a role in telling us how often the user visits these forums hence, how much they know. If they have a high post count, that means they pretty much know the forum, and should search before they ask, otherwise, it tells us that they're new and don't know the forum well (in which case we could kindly tell them about the search feature). Same goes for the registration date. If they were registered today, they would probably not know about the search feature yet.Quote:

Just my $0.02.
Good point. I also much prefer to help if they've used code tags, and things like that. Although if they are new I'll do my best :)

He wouldn't get angry over a VB Q. The thing is that I don't like the palestinians' methods of making peace. It's no big deal but seeing a guy who supports the palestinians by putting a palestinian flag as his avatar makes me annoyed. If I would know the guy personaly I would possibly hate him or disagree with him and therefore I wondered if I should answered to his Q or not.
Drop it anyway.
I agree. This is a programming (and smut :p) site -- leave your anger at the index page :)

and NO, im not gonna drop it.
I would never hate somebody for his/her nationality.
If I knew a guy who said that terrorism is the best way to solve things, then I would annoy myself.
Once, when I was a kid, I was afraid of putting the garbage out because the trash container outside (don't know the english term now) could explode in my face or something similar.
Understood now?
Well does this person think terrorism is the best way? you probaly dont know coz your most probaly predjustice.Quote:

Now we all have little fears when we where young, and just because you have that one, doesnt mean that its gonna happen!!!!!!
...Its a Bin BTW.
Ok I've been here a little while!
I must admit of posted something than worked out so i delete the thread!
But I search the forums and vb world first then post my Question!
If i can't find it on the forums then i post it!
Yet it still seems soem of use still dont read them! Why?
I disagree with you ppl on this one just because a person has been here a while or not why would you discriminate against them! All they want is help!
I didn't said that the guy thought terrorism was a good thing and I don't know it either. And no trash bin exploded in my face. It was someone else.
Just don't misjudge me. I was only saying that we should always answer a question, considering of course what Megatron pointed.

yep, but what did he do to make him an idiot?
I only don't reply if I don't know the answer, or I can't think of anything to say. I'm about as open minded as they come.
some people reply even if they don't know the answer; just talkin' crap. But I guess they're only trying to help their fellow VB'ers.
I do that too. But only if it's useful crap.
eg.

I personally dislike quite a few Nationalities. But this is mainly because of the governments and what you hear in the media. I have met people from Germany (i do not like Germans as a whole) but the person was a really nice bloke. Again with the French. I don't think that all Palastinians believe that terrorism is the right way. But we don't hear about them. So i think Goodreams is putting that one person into the stereotype that the media have created. Which is kinda wrong but understandable. He is human after all (you are human aren't you?:D) and humans are governed by emotion.
any of that make any sense to anyone?
Since the media reports reflect the private views its ownersQuote:

and our own national prejudices this is a really bad way to form views. One of the most *educational* things I found when newspapers started publishing on the web (about five years ago I guess) was how differently the same issues are portrayed in different countries and how stereotyped news is in any one country (including ones own - regardless of where one comes from). One amazing thing the web does is to allow us to "see how the other guy thinks" (by reading his web site or newpapers etc - or even just neutral ones) which previously has been almost impossible.
Yes it does -Quote:
