Vuvuzela should be banned.

Personally I think that the vuvuzela should be banned.

We have enough problems with yobs and politician's causing
noise pollution.

Stop trying to suppress South Africa's cultural heritage. The vuvuzela has it's roots thousands of years in the past where nomadic hunter-gatherers would make irritating reed instruments in order to communicate over long distances out in the bush. The more irritating, the better since it keeps all the dangerous animals away.

In banning the vuvuzela, you are effectively demanding the re-institution of apartheid. Mandela would be turning in his grave if he was dead.

Can you live with that? Can you, eh? EHHH?

Definitely not. There's no point in having the contest in Africa for the first time if you're going to stop the Africans from supporting in their traditional way. It's nothing less than cultural imperialism.

That said, I hate the noise - but it's my problem, not theirs. At least it drowns out the sound of the England fans singing "The referee's a ******" and other such charming ditties.

This world cup has been a little strange so far... Everyone (including me) was expecting Holland to crush Denmark, yet they played very badly and only won by sheer luck (own goal and rebound). And now Spain is beaten by Switzerland? *** is going on :p

I do think it's good for Holland to not crush their opponents in the first matches for once though. Usually, they win 4-0 or more in the first few matches against the better teams (beaten Italy and France easily in the last european cup I think), then everyone expects us to win the cup, and then they lose to some stupid third world country (so to speak, no offence lol) in the knockout stages and boom, the end... Maybe this time they will lose a few matches and only reach their peak performance when it really matters and win the cup... But I doubt it.

I am a proud South African, although disappointed in last night's refereeing, but still.

Sad to say, I also do not like the Vuvuzela much. Blown once or twice, fine, but not the whole time. Don't get me wrong, I also have a vuvuzela at home. And when it is suited, I blow it :)

But, that being said, what did the people expect? This is Africa, we have our own unique qay of doing things, live with it :) Would you have preffered lions in the streets, elephants storming the stadiums? We're a bit more advanced these days.... :)

That would be brilliant, why weren't you on the organising committee ?

The early games would certainly be more exciting if the players had to deal with Elephants on the pitch as well as play football. :D

The dutch tv station changed the volume level between game and commentator. That at least reduces the desturbance at home...:p

After a fuw games, the noise is pretty much gone, and i got used to it.
I don't hate them anymore, but I think 1000's of djembe's, all in 1 rithm would be more awsome. imagine, a full stadium performing k'naan - wavin flag :eek:
