There are 1000*20 places to fail, where each place has a 49,999/50,000 chance of not failing. So, the chance that no rig fails is (49,999/50,000)^(1000*20) ~= 0.6703. The chance that at least one fails is then 1-0.6703 ~= 0.32968 ~= 33%.
The second question is similar, though with 10 instead of 20, and without subtracting the value from 1.
