Sorry for creating so many feedback threads recently but it became a real pain to navigate anywhere within the VBF (not sure about other JM sites).
I really don't know what's causing this but it would be great if there is something that can be done.
The downgrade of performance is very consistent and obvious not to notice even on fast connection.
It's happening for a few days already but I think today was the worst.

I was having some problems on Monday, but yesterday and so far today, things have been flying right along.
Are you having slow page loads? Time outs?
Most of my problems (slow downs) are when I navagate back from a thread to the New posts query view. Some times it's actuall quicker to just select the New Post Menu item.
Is this still occuring? I just did some flip flopping from New Posts and back and the page loads zipped right along.
I'm using IE7.
Today it seems to be running good. Yesterday and Monday it was painfull
It's alright now so was yesrterday and monday morning. Throughout the day however there are constant delays, timeouts, more dealys (and very heavy too but without the timeouts) and so on.
Last night was the worst of it.
It has been a few hours since your last post in this thread Rhino, how are things going?
It was as I described in the previous post but at this second it's blazing fast.
The problem that I experience is that all of a sudden it will come to a dead end and it's consistent throughout the day.
In case anyone's wondering - navigation s a real pain at the moment.
That includes viewing, replying, etc...
No kidding.... I just had a rather lengthy reply eaten by the system..... not happy at the moment.....

Had 7 timeouts in half an hour...
I get this error number of thimes last few days. Few minutes ago i got this error again and wanted to feedback :)

I was just about to start a thread on this same issue. When you click on any link, the forums take forever to load. By forever, I mean more than 5 minutes. I've only received the message Fazi stated once.
It normally happens to me at night time (after 12am EST) but I've seen it happen during the daytime also. I was going to ask at what time there is maintenance going on the forum servers to see if that was the reason for the navigation taking forever.
@ techgnome - are you not able to press the BACK button to get back to your message? I am...:ehh:

Yes, we are all experiencing site issues lately and the developers know about the issue. Other JM sites are having issues too so hopefully it will be something they can figure out soon. Its not a usual isolated VBF issue but spread between several of JM sites.

That's what happens when you submit more than once when the site is slow.
The thing is that when you [under normal conditions] hit submit button more than once within disallowed time frame you will get a warning messagewhich obviously did not happen (or does not happen) when site is very slow.
It may become a serious problem.

Thanks SI. The problem is it's not the first time it happened to me but first time I deleted all extras myself - I think Rob knows about that.
Yes, RB. When the site experiences one of its "moments" the duplicate post function check isnt working correctly probably because the post hasnt actually been added yet so it cant detect that its a dup.
Usually for now Im just using the "Last Post" feature on the quick reply box which writes your reply's content t oa cookie in case the site malfunctions. Then when you get back you only have to click the last post function and it will repopulate the reply box with your content.
Also, pressing the 'x' stop button in your browser and then waiting a minimum of 10 seconds and then trying again seems to be the workaround for now. :)

Nope, nothing yet. I am waiting for any news just like you. Its just that this is just not limited to VBF so its making it allot harder for the developers to debug.
Although, the page hangs when you reply or navigate at the x:58, x:13, x:28, x:43 minutes of the hour are allot shorter now. Something like 30 - 60 seconds vs the up to 6 minutes ones we had before.

Interesting thread. I've probably been on less often over the last few weeks, but it has been from various systems, and I have only seen a problem one time, and often not at all. This appears to be sporadic both in who is affected and how often.
There are few VBF Web Designing issues as well. I have attached an screen shot. so you get the point. I am Using Redmond's IE7. I also checked it with the North Pole WebBrowser Opera. The problem varies each and every browing. But a problem exist in the bottom part of the page.
That's a separate issue Fazi - I think you need to open a new thread for that.

it wasn't there last week. I added it because of the slow downs and timeouts.
we've made an alteration that we hope will help with the slowdowns that occurred every 15 minutes. Please let me know if you see any change, thanks

Sticky..... had a time out at 8:44central this morning.... LastPost saved me.... had slowdowns yesterday at quarter past, half past and quarter till, off and on during the day. We'll see how today goes.

If it starts going flaky on you again, note the times, as you did before.
Any consistencies that can be pointed out will help in diagnosing the problem.
Well, here is what I experienced this morning:
- when navigation was very slow I would hit the stop button and then GO or Refresh button few times and page would load
- without that I would get the timeout or "page cannot be loaded" or something error.
That behavior includes replies as well but I didn't loose anything - was able to use the browser's "go back" functionality.
It's fine at the moment.
I'm getting a lot of timeouts today (last one at 9:42) page could not be displayed. Some of the page loads are taking a long time also. I'm using IE7 with tabs I can load a new page from another location in a new tab faster then a refresh on VBFroums.
That corresponds to similar times for me (mine are Central TZ)
8:10 - trying to get into User PAnel
8:12 - hitting Quote on a posting
8:44 - just opening VBF

The timeout problem that has been going for the past week or two is still happening at the same clip on my end.
If pressed, I'd say it started at the same time as the new banner was added.
the timing may have coincided, but it's occurring on sites which don't even have the toolbar, so it's pure coincidence
Real slow again 1:16 - 1:18 EST
But if the problem isn't found yet, wouldn't it be easier to shutdown the forums for some hours and reset the servers as the problem most probably lies there?
I'd say it's at least worth a shot...
EDIT: With reset I mean reinstall
With one site it's easy (more or less) but when you have two dozen or so and everyone of them is ads driven then it wouldn't be as simple.
Also, the advertisers might need to be notified so it's an extreme if you ask me and it should always be the very last thing you do - basically when you run out of idea.

It could also be a bad network card or a bad port on the switches etc. Very hard to diagnose and determine. They are aware of all of this and are actually working on the problems. Some changes have been applied and the site is getting better. :)

It seems the problem only occurs during weekdays. Not weeknights, and not on the weekends. I assume that means the issue is load related.
