How many hours per week do you work?

I'm doing just over 40 at the mo, i'm from India how much does everyone else work??

Contractually... 35 hrs
Minus 3 hours per day for the pub... 15 hrs
Minus smoking time per week... 10 hrs
Minus time to do the maths to figure out how many hours I work per week... 10 hrs

Theoretically they are paying me for 35 to 37 a week,
unfortunately that figure is after they have deducted an hour for lunch,
and it does not include the commute, which adds roughly an hour to an hour and a half in the morning, and in the evening.

Own my own business...

So 11 hours a day is standard - 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Tuesday I started at 4:00 am - worked 14+ hours...

Always do development on Saturday/Sunday - customers not calling allows for truly productive r & d time...

Working anything more is truly 'artificial', as productivity for anyone does an abrupt nose-dive after 35 hours.

Mind you, I reckon at least a quarter of that time must be spent sorting us lot out in the DB forum.

I'm employed for 37.5 hours a week. I work about half of 'em :)

Man, i didn't think programmers worked such long hours :eek:. Although i have heard that if you love doing what you do then time flies, so you don't really notice it.

I've been doing this since 1980...

It's always been about deadlines and long hours - software always takes longer to develop, longer to test, longer to debug then expected.

Those deadlines drive the hours - at least in my world.

We spent the past 2 years developing a payroll system - then in the final push of December we worked 60+ hour weeks to make sure that the testing was all done and that we could go live with the January 1st payroll.

W-o-r-k .... let's see..... ok, does that mean the time I'm at work (40-50)? The time my employer pays me for (40)? Does VBF time count? (+20) OR the amount of time I'm actualy productive (15)?

Usually about 60 or so...

But when I go out 3 or 4 times, I tend to be broke the remaining hours.
