I hate Adobe and all Adobe products :mad: .... Damn (censored) bought Macromedia :mad: ... I see what was a great company going to hell... I've hated Adobe for a while now, but since there wasn't a thread here, i thought why not make one and vent of some anger. Thank you for pretending to care, it makes me feel much better :afrog:

Personally, I think Microsoft deserves more anger vented towards.
I like Adobe:
Illustrator is way better as coreldraw
Indesign is way better as Quarkexpress
Photoshop is the best period.
You just need to understand that adobe is not for making websites, or movies or music or..... programs
Photoshop sucks. Slow, bloated, crap piece of software.

Regardless of what you are all saying...
Adobe is a brilliant company - giving away free Acrobat readers so that the PDF format has pretty much become a standard in the world (for e-mailing documents, for example).
You can't get any smarter than that!
Now they have huge "brand recognition" and can add commercial products to that "brand" and have people buy them simply because of the recognition.
GOOGLE keeps trying to think of how they can add a "cost associated" product to their brand...

why not just have adobe PDFs not open in the browser? that would stop any issues you may be having with it hanging and forcing you to close all your browser windows.

I don't understand the piont of PDF's... they aren't directly editable, and Word can put out just as pretty documents... and there's no huge installation for Word... Granted, in the extremely rare event that I do need to look at a PDF online, it opens in Fx, leaving me nothing to worry about.. but I almost never use PDF's for anything other than gathering information... never made one in my life, haven't met many people who do...

If you cannot afford full blown ADOBE to get a print driver go to www.cutepdf.com and download that - and see what a difference printing to PDF is...
We have documention written in PDF format - we can edit it. It's much stronger a document producer than WORD - and can be printed by people who do not have WORD installed.
Seriously, though... who doesn't have Word? If not word, then WordPad... both can open *.doc files...

Or use the XPS (XML Paper Standard) instead - that is human readable and built in to Vista, and there are free viewers for XP already and more downstream viewers may be in the works.

I just installed MX Studio 8 last week and it has a product called "Flash Paper". It allows you to convert your Word or other Office apps files into pdf format. Cool!

Corect, it just outputs a secondary copy of your document or workbook as an pdf. Still someone who has Acrobat can modify the pdf but Im sure it would show.Quote:

The text of a Graphs Legend visually changed this way, whereby the kerning jumbled the characters together. Open the file, go to that page, it looks fine, go ahead a couple of pages, come back to that page, and it was garbled.

Its a great product .. agree its got its flaws like any .. especially that annoying checking for updates box .. and they've made it much larger over time.
MS word does not compare to Adobe Acrobat though ..
At least for us that prepare documents for clients, PDF is the way to go.
Think of Adobe Acrobat as one big image viewer .. a document with text and images looks the same on most systems .. while when using Word, most of the time it will not. Not to mention it is compressed more than Word.
I've already said that Adobe has done some alright things, but personally i can't find anything in it that i can't do with any other document type. Pdfs to me are only useful to view documents, you can't even add comments to pdfs without the use of other software. I don't have a problem with pdfs as much as i do with Adobe's reader. Pdfs do what they are intended to do, and i use them and intend to continue doing so. I just have a problem with Adobe reader.Quote:
