1. Australia.
2. New Zealand.
3. Vanuata...romantic, sunsets, cheap french wine.
Where is Vanuata?

MARTINIQUE!!!!!
My wife and I stayed at Villa Estrella about 2 years ago.
It was so georgous. Flowers everywhere, a small beach
right in front of the house, an acre+ of immaculate
grounds, cocoanut trees, your own private coral reef,
Vauclan village just 15 min away!
We had fresh french bread, french cheese, and pate for
breakfast every day. It's part of the Prefecture of Paris,
so there are no import duties on wines or cheeses, fabulous
wine for less than california rot-gut.
Art in the streets, colour everywhere, bananna plantations,
cool nights, hot days, and a constant wind.
The ad says for 9, but its perfect for 2. It costs about
$1000 a week, and worth EVERY penny. The house itself is
set up as a large room surrounded by 3 bedrooms connected
by a walk-around porch, with the walk-around porch circling
the whole thing. The bushes and flowers bordering the
porch is so thick as to be impenetrable...besides, the area
is not well populated. We walked around naked.
Philippe Lucien 596-634-922 is the person you need to call.
Its a few hundred ks above Australia and Papua New Guinea.Quote:

The Island was formally run by the French, hence a heavy gallic influence. The locals are friendly, in a sort of waving machette fashion.....only joking there.
Theres a couple of resorts out in the lagoon which are really cool, you can get a bungalow over the water etc with a nice veranda for drinking french champagne whilest the sun goes down.
You can hire a car and drive around the Island in a morning which is pretty cool, plenty of road side stalls selling tropical fruit etc.
Lots of after hours activities available, casino etc, not that you will probably be interested in that.
Tell them your on the honeymoon and they throw in heaps of free stuff, we got away with that three times before they twigged.
Thanks,
I'll look into it.
Tried to go Vanutu, once. 28 hours on the plane. Nope.
Don't think so.
I don't think my fiance can handle that. He's one of those people who can never sit still...
Well, I just looked it up again. Apparently, they have faster planes now.
18 Hours from Atlanta to Sydney, 4 hours from Sydney to Vanatu.
According to Travelocity, the best price you're going to
get on regularly scheduled airlines is about $2200/person,
to Sydney. But, there's probably better available.
Check out http://www.hideawayholidays.com.au/vli_syd2.htm
for more information.
Did some more checking, Martinique is about 6 hours from
NYC. You gotta go thru Puerto Rico. Cost is roughly 1200/person.
Have you considered Costa Rica? We stayed at a horse hotel
on the western coast. From Atlanta, takes about 3 hours to
get to San Jose, and about 3 hours drive after that. The
place we stayed at was wonderful. Cool days and evenings
(it is blistering hot on the coast, 3 miles away), nice
dogs, nice horses, parrots, the food was great (a REAL plus
because Costa Rican food generally bears a strong
resemblance to British Food....salt is about it).
Playa Domingo is right down the road. They have gambling,
a buffet (everything you can think of), golf.....
At the town you can get a guided tour to the islands with
snorkeling. Lots of dolphins and some whales.

canada
hehehehehehe
Take you .38 snubnose. In April, you'll need it for the
mosquitos.
I think I will skip on Canada...looking for somewhere a bit warmer...:)
well where you bought property blows
best place is west canada
there is a city called Kelowna
oh and if you want famous cities
we got paris, sydney, london
well cold is good
makes making love a little hotter :)
but that time of the year, canada is really good n stuff
but we dont want you up here n e ways :)
I want to go to a place where I can run around in a bikini most of the day and get some sun. South Dakota winters make you pretty pale skinned...
In that case, the Carribean Basin is definitely the place
to go. Note: NOT the Gulf coast of the US.
HEY! What's wrong with Canada!?! It's wonderful.. I rented a cottage in the Canadian Shield (Whiteshell provincial park) in June of this year for my honeymoon and it was incredible....
Kovan - I guess some people just don't know what they're missing! :)
i always wanted to go to barbados
just cus of the ad they put on tv
and the CLEAR sea they show
oh and how can i forget their slogan
"Barbados... Just Beyond your Imagination"
i wanna go see if it is beyound my imagination
i honestly think canada is great for all things
specialy for americans cus their dollar is worth a lot of duo here
nice place for honeymooning is west beatutiful sun, warm, cheap, pacific ocean
blah blah
oh and the mountains there are LOVELY
i going there soon cus i went there as a kid
loved it
Barbados is too touristy for my taste. Andros and Cat in
the bahama's are very similar without the people.
Didn't want to offend anyone from Canada, but I am looking for something more tropical than Canada.
Maybe we'll go to Canada for an anniversary or something
nahh dont come up here
we dont want you here :)
jk
hope it all goes well :)
I'm also getting married soon (April). We have booked plans to go to Bermuda (2 hours from Newark, NJ). The price wasn't that bad either. Some places are all-inclusive too.
My fiance likes to get a tan while I'll go golfing. They say that guys shouldn't bring clubs on your honeymoon, but my fiance insists that I bring them! We don't know when we'll get back there again.
BTW
You ARE going to post pictures, right??????
Oh, sure...of the beach that is...
By the way, I am in the process of learning how to golf, so we will both probably be taking our clubs with us.
When is your wedding date? Mine is April 27, 2001.
April 28, 2001
Someday, in the not-too-far future, I will be able to say to you, "When you have been married for as long as I been..."!
Good Luck!
I'll be just one day behind you on that one...:)
I tell you what though...If I could give any advice to someone who just got engaged, it would be to elope. I am planning this wedding on my own, because my fiance will only answer my questions this way: "Whatever you want, dear." It is a lot of work for one day, but I'm sure it will be worth it.
if you want warm and golf, the mediteranian is you best bet. places in spain, the balleric island's and other places like that are alway's lovely, with nice beaches and excellent courses, i've played on a few
you'd probably need to get a flight into the main european airports then get a connection.
How big is your wedding?
My wife and I planned our wedding on our own and it was a lot of work... and we just had a simple wedding with only about 130 people. But you're right it was worth the effort.
Good Luck to both of you!
My wife and I were married before a Judge. With 4
witnesses including my drunk brother. The judge was also
drunk. Ours has lasted 26 years. Spend your money on the
honeymoon.
My fiance comes from a large Itialian (sometimes anoying) family. I come from a small Irish family. She is having cousins, aunts, great-great second uncle's cousin's brother's at this wedding. I dont't even know half of the guests.
what a special day! :( I bet I won't even have a chance to drink.Code:175 - Her parents family & their friends
75 - My parents family & their friends
+25 - Our friends
275 people!
Canada is cool. I love it there. I'm an Honourary
Canadian dubbed by some Canuks I worked with a few years
ago, becuase they said I knew more about their own country
than they did!!
Now, I just have to marry a nice Canadian gal, so I can
get citizenship. ;)
Sherm
My wedding will probably be something like:
80% - her family
15% - her friends
5% - my friends & family
Sherm
You got that many friends????? Or is it that few guests.
you havent even met the girl for god sakes :)
well since everyone is going on how big their wedding gonna be
Family 35
Friends of Family 200(if not more)
our Friends 35
Her Family 25
outch
hmm i just need to finish school before i can propose
i might do it sooner
Nonononononono.... I mean.. if I were t marry my current SO.
She has 2 brothers, 9 aunts and uncles (or more), plus
all her cousins, grandparnets, people married into the
family, etc... so her family is quite huge.
That's how I derived my figures... purely unscientific
though. :)
Sherm
Too many in-laws, Sherm...Give it up.
sherm dont you live in canada already?
if you do
you dont need to marry anyone to get citizenship
DerFarm: If she heard you say that, she would kick our asses. :)
kovan: I wish I lived in Canada!!! However, I live in
NY (but very close to Ontario).
Sherm
The place is full of Euro Trash and retired seppos.:rolleyes:Quote:

For tropical fun, check out Cairns and the Barrier Reef, or maybe Hamilton Island....with the exchange rate the way it is, this would probably make it ideal
jethro - some of those places are gorgeous, and just becuase there are no kangaroo's to play nursy with, does'nt mean you should nock it ;)
We are only inviting 150 people to the ceremony and the reception meal because the church will only hold 150 people, but we are following the meal with a dance at a local hotel, and there will probably be about 300 at that. We have a lot of friends that are only going to come to the dance.
Kovan,
I think that you should propose on her graduation if she is going to school, or if she's not, then propose the night before your graduation so that you have something else to announce to your family on graduation day. Just propose in a more unique way than my fiance did. He put my ring under a pillow, expecting me to find it when I got into bed. Well, I didn't, so he told me that the tooth fairy had left me something under my pillow. I was hoping for something a little more exciting and romantic.
Hi smh,
Under your pillow eh? I think that is quite sweet. Sadly, I can't even remember where I proposed. Mind you, my wife doesn't remember our first meeting. (She's also been trying to blank a few other meetings from her mind since, as well<sigh>)
Only 300 - so you aren't inviting ALL your VB-World buddies then...
Hope we at least get some cake!
BTW Kovan, If you are going to propose publicly, make damn sure you know what she is going to say...
Cheers,
P.

You should be thankful you got that much! My husband (we'll be married 20 years next October) proposed to me after a rather intense love-making session by saying..."I'd better marry you before I knock you up"...I got really upset (naturally) and he apologized all over the place but I never really got another proposal. He just took me out the next day to look at wedding rings. I kept expecting that he would someday do it properly (propose, that is) but it has never happened.Quote:

In spite of the horrible proposal, he has been a wonderful husband...an awesome father to our kids...and it has worked out beyond my wildest dreams.
I wish you nothing but happiness with your husband. Being married is great!
HAHAHAHAH
had bad experiences in public paul? :)
well she basically is dying to get married
so a yes is definately expected
unless i REALLLLLLY screw up :)
graduation is not good
cus she really doesnt care about when she graduates hehe
i was thinking either bday, as a gift
or the day we met, the place we met
o well
i dnt have to worry about that for a long time
so nevermind :)
sorry ta hear that baarkie
maybe he will some day
ha ha , your learning quick katie, as I'm sure people would have jumped at that oppertunity if you didn't put in the bracket'sQuote:

Ian
Well as I can't remember proposing, I MAY have had a bad experience - in fact, it could have been so bad that I am suffering selective amnesia...
No bad public experiences when proposing, but a few restaurant scenes with girlfriends in my past life...
Katie, your husband just showed how considerate he was - it could have been - "Well, I've probably knocked so I suppose your Dad will want us to get hitched<sigh>". Just be thankful for the considerate way in which he spared your feelings...
P.
Ian...I try never to lead with my chin...if at all possible.
Paul...thanks for the effort but, you know, I know and he knows he f***ed up. He's still adorable anyway!
But then again, one of those people would have been me, because I wouldn't have spotted the chance otherwiseQuote:

Ok, ok. So we men can be a little insensitive at times (half of the guys seeing that post are thinking "Well if it was me I would have just fallen asleep!").
Talking of insensitive, I can never remember the date of our Wedding anniversary. I have to have a present ready by 15th August, ready to produce when Denise gives me one (a present, Ian!!!). I think it is the 18th, but it could be the 16th/17th - definitely August though. 6 years next time.
P.
I don't think you should propose in public at all. I think it's a personal thing between two people, but that is my thoughts. Plus, if you don't get the answer you wanted, it could be extremely embarrasing. My fiance was going to take me up in a hot air balloon to propose, but he had already told all of his relatives that he was going to propose, so he said that he needed to ask me before someone congratulated me.
lol.Quote:

The problem is that when i'm talking, I alway's leave myself wide open for things like that, and although I mean it a completly innocent way, people manage to twist them so easily
PaulW,
You can come to the wedding, but I'm not going to foot the bill for everyone to fly here. The wedding is costing enough in itself.
