Septembers Theme For VBForums - (Hand Drawn Version of Original Avatar)

Christmas in July made a big impact on VBForums. Then Gangsta Yoda Month for August gotten pretty popular. What should we do about September? October, November, and December are self explanitory since it represents Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Septembers gonna be challenging since it doesn't represent anything. All ideas are welcome. How bout 3D cubes? :bigyello:

What is it with you and your 3D cubes anyway?

well school's starting.... so for students it could be anti-school, for the rest of the world it could be a joyous occassion because all the 13-year-old-n00bs are off the game servers.

We could do a cartoon theme although most members avatars are already rip offs from some cartoon. Or we could do a Simpsons theme?

Oh, or a Beer theme? Everyones avatar is a picture of their favorite beer! :thumb:

When I firest read cartoon this is what came to my mind:

Everyone draws their regular avatar in BMP (or PS if you want it to look decent). I think that would be cool. Trying to draw your avatar and having a bunch of BMP avatars that look like stick figures running around.

Great! I just got rid of mine...just goes to show, get rid of something, and in 10 minutes it'll be back in style....sheesh.

I like the idea of a cartoon hijack theme. You could put it Dilbert's face on Homer's body with Gangsta Screems robe, and Gansta Yoda's chain and you'd have one seriously hijacked avatar (or would that simply be a jacked avatar?)

I did it. I ruined my avatar by pixelating it. Then sharpening far too much and adding noise and blending it away...


Another idea though: smiley face theme.

:lol: pixlated isn't looking to bad. But I think my head would explode by the end of the month.

Oh, I also like the dilbert theme, but I don't know how far we could take it unless each person customized a dilbet avatar to their liking (instead of just using a normal dilbert avatar).

I dislike Dilbert. If anyone cared.

Lets try to gather a few more ideas then we can start voting on it on monday or something. So far my fav is still hand drawn BMP ones. No special effects either (like Merri uses all the time), MS Paint is all you are allowed to use. If you can somehow make that look good then more power to you.

My second favorite is pixelated (sp?). This would be great because it would be more like snow (IE - I could grab everyones avatars and do them in PS then post them, but that way I guess you lose the personalizations that we had with gangsta avatars).

How about futuristic avatars?

I'll use Paint Shop Pro 4 in that case. It was released in 1996. I like it. Great for pixel work, yet simple. Atleast I can't use layers that way, unless I spend a lot of time figuring out how to simulate it ;)


Please note I don't use PhotoShop because it is pretty bad, imo :D

What do you use to make cool effects on your avatar then? Paint Shop Pro 7? ;) :D

I like The GIMP, it may be slower than PhotoShop, but the GUI is 999% better to work with.

I've told that before, so you said it :) PSP8 and PSP9 aren't all that great (because they made it too much like PS). Wonder what Corel messes up with the next PSP as they bought JASC...

Did you know you can use PSP7 evaluation for free without doing any real hacking? Just double click a graphics file and it opens even after the evaluation period :D I love bugs... I mean, features.

I never found a store where they would have sold PSP7 here. In the other hand, when PSP7 was fresh, I didn't have the money to buy it. Now I could buy it, but it is so old already you just can't find a new copy of it... thus use of the "evaluation feature".

Ok, I've created the EMBOSSED look. Anyone else want to try something better?

Both yours and dgs look disabled. Surely we can come up with a good idea that will make members want to join in the fun?

It has to be something creative like the gangsta one. Seeing everyone put their own touches to the avatars was nice :)
