VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
Report on VB6.0 from Vista BETA1 Build 5112
Hi
I have just got Vista installed for future developments and tests. I thought that I would report back to you what it's like on it ;)
Well, programs developed in VB6.0, for some reason seem to run alot faster on Windows Vista than any other OS! Especially XP :thumb: !!!
Programs made in VB6.0 are FULLY compatible with Vista including all features etc.
I'll add more as I try to develop a new program from scratch on Vista VB6.0 ;)

Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
How did you get the beta, you a tester?
Also, what I want to know is, do the controls draw properly, with the correct styles? Can you post a screenie? :D
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
Thanks that RUDI not read much about Vista doe sit still use the same underlining API's as previous Windows OS ??
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
I've had Longhorn (AKA Vista) Beta for sometime... thing is couldn't get it to load on my machine due to processor and ram issues.. Resolved them now, but initial look and feel, before machine death screened me was too clunky..
MSDN Subscribers get these sent out via CD or can download them from the Subscriptions Site

Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
Longhorn a.ka. Vista is built on the WinFX architecture with all new graphics, commincation subsets etc. There is more information here:

Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
Besides most of my development work takes place at my employers so wouldn't really get round to doing too much with it..

Just order the DVD ;)
Or even easier

Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
You don't receive the all the beta's.. Although I've just changed my subscription to allow for DVD-Rom, but yes each month you get all the content that your licence allows..
Talk to your employer... (Never Mind EM :D) and beg them to get you it.. state how much it costs for one copy of VS.Net2003 and tell them the subscription is only slightly more..
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1

# Two core Windows Server System products (limited use rights) AND THESE!!!
# Latest development tools, including Visual Studio .NET Professional 2003

Bleargh, I dont make any money out of this miserable activity either, so no free subscriptions for me. Good point with the pricing though. I will have to get one in the future, provided I stay developing for MS software :)

BIG PROBLEM!!
Where can I get this file from!
BTW D:/ Is my local drive for Vista!

Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
You down the road then from here...
Google it.. it might also be on your previous OS installation disk if not on longhorn..
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
It's something to do with just 'Longhorn' and IE7 BETA1
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
ieframe.dll is part of IE 7. Have a peek in \Windows\i386\, if its not in there then you need to reinstall IE7.
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
It's in that directory
-
Re: VB 6.0 and Vista BETA1
anyway, I tried to find out if it had the wrong file loaded but it's there, even in the Components dialog it's there as a registered component (Internet Controls) so I select it, then it says Cannot find the file!
But what's with the \1' on the end of the file ;)
