Well, I made a snake game that ... "has AI" ... Even though all AI is, is just a bunch of If statements... anyone have OTHER methods of doing this type of "AI"... Well this is a snake game that has AI and eats the stuff on his own and makes the smartest movements... Check it out ... Have any comments on how to make it better ... or a better way of AI??

Dude, that's not AI, that's just a lot of permutations/combinations.
For an "AI" snake game, you'd have to create an algorithm in which the snake "learns" as it goes along!
That's not true at all. AI is used in tons of games. And none of the MObs in those games ever learn a damn thing. They are all hard coded to do a certain thing in reaction to their surroundings. With enough permutations it can give the apperance of Intelligence. But there hasn't been a game made that has AI that learns from prior experience.
There are some very high tech experiments going on that are working on this abbility. But it's still in it's infancy.
So what is this all about?

The rest could simply be called pseudo-AI for want of a better term.
I think that a program should be able to expand / learn in order to have AI, the rest are just State Machines.
A finite state machine is a type of AI machine, albeit a primitive one.
Add "proper" to the phrase "Finite State Machine", so that the appearance of me contradicting myself is reduced. I completely agree with what you just said Gush. I just added something.

A few points...
- There is not even a sniff of AI anywhere within that tiny amount of code.
- That is one of the poorest snake games I have seen.
- You code is bugged to ****. Use Option Explicit at the top of each module then try and run your code.
- Why the **** is it trying to download an update file from an unrelated server?! Your coding is, well, to be honest a bit crap. I don't believe for one second you have written some "advanced" code to download and update your snake game from a remote server. So what the **** is it trying to download?!!! And you were trying to get people to run your EXE directly! :rolleyes:

Well Gomez_Client is some software that runs on your PC and does tests on web sites and internet access depending on what your connection speed is. These results are sent back to a main server and you could have the potential of earning x amount of cents per hour of online time.Quote:

To become elligable to be paid you must run the software for a minimum of 2 weeks, or something like that, and then they say YES or NO, to whether or not you go on there pay roll. However 99.9999% of the people get rejected and their application remains "pending". But that means that they have just gotten 2 weeks, or more if you continue to run it, of results from you as you are aiming to get paid for it. Very clever tactics. Most people unistall it when they get rejected.

Then it tries to connect to gomez.com, which is an Internet Research company, downloads gomez.zip (16.3mb, please tell me this isn't a VB virus. :p), and then later on,

There does appear to be something you might consider to be related to a Snake Game though.

sentry.servegame.com, but I assume thats supposed to be part of the snake game, so probably won't get paid much attention.
And finally, theres some kinda of survey in it, a line of interest being,

If you would like to fully remove it I can give the instructions, all it did was mask the gomezPEER software, and earns me money, the more time that you are on, gives me more money, I am an Active Account on Gomez peer and do get paid... so I figured I would take advantage of this forum, Im sorry I did this, its kinda like the classic stroy line where, I DID IT AT FIRST, but then I started to get to know you guys after the time spent here, and I'm actually I'm sorry I did it... so here are all the steps to fully remove it:
ok end task on
iexplorer.exe
java.exe
Now goto C:\windows\internet explorer\ (DELETE THIS FOLDER)
now goto registry key:
1.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
(delete the autorun key for iexplorer.exe)
2.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Gome\Checks
(delete the folder and keys)

Your also forgetting the 16mb download, and I have to wonder whether your program was even smart enough to realise if the gomez client had already been downloaded, so may well download it everytime they run your game.

I really don't think you are in any position to make judgements on people who are regulars to this board, espescially users like PC_Madness who go out of their way to help others, and who are here legitimately. The worst thing was that your Snake game is one of the worst I have ever seen. The code is crap, varibles arn't decalred, it's not structured and it's jerky and slow. The whole thing is a pile of ****e...you can't code, so don't bother.

Anyway, I think one one side it's somewhat comedy someone really though people here where stupid enough to just run the code, and to make things worse, he posted the sourcecode!
I think this can be a lesson to never trust anycode created by members, especially when it's just the EXE.

I've created a simple program that deletes vital Windows System files, uploads all your private documents etc to it's server and reboots your system you so won't be able to track it or start windows anymore... Does anyone want to try it out because I'm not sure it works because I didn't test it myself....

Maybe... The site isn't exactly 'official' looking, and when loading the domain, I say some reference to www.allourstuff.net/sentry which leads to the same page... So the domain is just a redirect domain...

Uploading a Trojan/virus is about the worst violation of an acceptable usage policy that you can do.
SnakeMaker and his IP are now banned. If anyone finds copies of his executable or source code still linked to a message, please let a moderator or I know and we will remove it. I was going to delete his posts from the forum; however, I wanted to leave his admitance of posting a virus (and how to fix it) so that hotmail, gomez, and other sites/businesses would be able to confirm that he posted such a program.

This is criminal behaviour; particularly in the UK 'obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception' as well as other offences.

There are hackers and crackers in the world that are good. You have to respect those that truly know what they are doing. Most people, however, don't realize just how much of a trail they leave when they post on the internet -- or when they simply visit sites. For example, people register or they send you to another site. In the case of SnakeMaker, he not only gives one site address, but he associates himself to two. He also has a hotmail account that he registered for. Finally, he is using a machine that has an IP address. These are all little indicators of who he/she is and where he/she came from. Some of these can have fake information, but the underlying IPs and other information all adds up to point at the originator......
When posting something like a virus or even spam, you quickly get everyone against you. I've even had people spam forums going through stealth sites believing that will protect them. Ironically, stealth sites hate spamming as much as everyone else. They will just as quickly lock down an IP address and such for such offenses as any other site.
I guess in all my rambling what I am saying is, creating a virus -- even simple -- can result in large fines and jail time. If you aren't prepared to pay the cost -- in money or your freedom -- then don't do it -- and if you are foolish enough to do it, don't brag about it or say you did it. That is called a confession when reviewed by the authorities.... At least maintain plausable deniability....
So in keeping with this thread, let's call "artificial intelligence" the belief that you are annoymous because you can give yourself a different name.....

Out of interest...SnakeyBoy was trying to upload the gomez client app to people PCs. I'm trying to work out why...and I have a theory.
When you register for Gomez you can specify another user who brought Gomez to your attention and that user would get $1 for every user who is "accepted" onto their payroll.
If the Update code that was being uploaded installed the gomez client, then automatically registered you online and automatically sent information saying that SnakeyBoy had referred you, then he could have stood to make quite a bit of cash. You see where I'm coming from with this?
SnakeBoy already stated that he made cash from Gomez, which most users don't, as after your trial period they reject your application on grounds that you don't use the internet as much as they want, or something similar.
If this is the case then this would amount to fraud or deception would it not? Would it be possible for a mod, or someone else who is official with VBF to have a word with the gomez crew as I feel they would be very interested in what has gone on. They are a legit company and I'm sure they would not want their software being "illegally" downloaded onto peoples PC for a single users financial gain...or is that taking the witch hunt a bridge to far :confused:
