Man, I was excited to go see this tonight, just to find out that my theatre that I work at isn't going to have an employee sneak. Now I have to wait another day. What a let down.
I think it's due to that whole "starts around the globe at the same time" deal they're doing. Who the frag cares if it starts at the same time all over the globe?
Now I'll have to find something else to do with my night. :(
i havent even seen Reloaded yet. So i bought it on DVD SAturday, but when I got home, my DVD player no longer worked. So now I have to go into Revolutions totally confused.

you might want to wait until you've seen reloaded first. you've missed quite a bit of the story if you haven't.

My professional opinion on the matter is : it's CRAP, don't spend money on it .
I found one of our theatres that was having a sneak and went to see it last night at 10:30. I remember all those theories floating around about how Neo stopped the sentenels (sp?), and...well, all those cool ideas everyone came up with...yeah, none of them were right. They took an easy way out, if you ask me, instead of adding a cool new dimension.
There were some really cool parts, and some drawn out boring parts, and some of that lovey-do-lovey-da stuff...the girl I was sitting with kept laughing at every little part and saying "just die, already."
Would I pay for it? Sure. Would I pay for it twice? Probably not.

Apparently not. I am reading all sorts of reviews and its pretty much bein summed up as crap. The 2nd movie is seemingly ignored and pointless and doesnt bridge anything between 1 and 3.
So I am not expecting much of this movie.
That's what I gather from the reviews I've read today also.
I would expect that the positive versus negative views of the movie would have been 50/50, but it seems pretty much 5 positive and 95 negative.
Sad really for such a hyped and anticipated trilogy.

Let's be honest here. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is 300 times better than the Matrix anyway. AAAAAAND we know FOR SURE (since the first 2 were freaking epic) that the 3rd will be just as good. So....that's how I feel about the Matrix.

Something I really like about LOTR. It is also a proof of concept that you can do an epic story that spans multiple books into a series of movies. Gives me hope of a Foundation movie series one day.

It is weird, I didn't really care for the second LOTR that much. Maybe I am weird like that, and I admit I haven't read the book, but it wasn't that 'epic' to me. It seemed to flow less than the first did. The first also started losing its flow towards the end in my opinion.Quote:

I know what I have been told to think about the movie, but it didn't affect me like everyone else. I watched the first LOTR movie about 4 times, the second, only once. I haven't been drawn to watch the second again like I was the first.
Anyway, I could care less about the reviews, I am still eager to see Revolutions. I know that it is entertainment, and not real life like some people take it. I just hope there are parts that make you think a little deeper than normal movies do.
Example:
In Reloaded, when Neo went to see the Oracle, and had to fight the guy before he would take him to see her, I think that symbolizes a firewall protecting a valuable resource. The fight symbolized the authentication sequence taking place.
Now, I didn't pick up on it at first, but after thinking about it when I was walking out of the theater, it hit me what was happening. Seems to make sense, but it isn't explained to me. So I can interpret it one way, and another person interprets it another. That makes a good movie IMO.

First of all, get over yourself. As if we enjoy the movies because the "powers that be" tell us we should. "It didn't affect me like everyone else." You aren't sweet by "defying the norm" or "thinking outside the popular opinion." The movies are flat-out good. They aren't good because "we're told" to think they're good. Some people, believe it or not, can be twisted and put into any movie I want them to go to. As a box office cashier, so many people ask me for my opinions on movies, and hell, I haven't seen half of them. I don't have time.
Some of them are so stupid that they'll go to whatever I recommeded. If I tell them Gigli is an epic journey of self-discovery with great action -- boom -- another idiot sold.
Half the human -- or American, at least -- populace is so friggin' stupid you could sell them hot dogs as shingles.

I just take offense to the implication that I'm one of those people. It's just not the case. In fact, most of my favorite movies were probably trashed by the movie snobs.
My dad can be swayed. He wanted to go see that steaming pile of crap called Battlefield Earth with John Travolta, because he said the reviews were good. But the reviews he was talking about re the quick commercial blurbs. You know the ones with ellipsies removuing the important parts of the review. :pQuote:

I also want to see the third LOTR. I want to see how they close up this story. Just because I didn't 'love' the second one as much as the first, doesn't mean I am not anticipating the third one.

I thought it was a good movie. The CGI graphics were outstanding. The mechwarrior scene looked so real. The ending graphics were great too.
They kinda left it open at the end too for another movie....which makes me think..
everyone says it's the last one but..maybe thats just a bunch of bull...maybe? maybe not? i dont know...

Anyways:
Movie was too short. Should have been 3 hours. At least.
None of that "mystic" stuff that made you think... this was just leading towards Armageddon all the way.
The film's cheesiest moment was when Trinity died and Neo's crying over her body. He should just stick to the determined, expressionless look. He's really "good" at that.
Film's best moment: When Neo and Trinity fly over the clouds to see a nice, blue sky. I actually said "wow" out loud at that one :p
Only two minutes of Merovingian and just 30 seconds of Persephone's sumptuous breasts? :(

I guess I was thinking there would be some sort of a revelation here, but the ending was, I guess, "expected." I was hoping there would have been something else... like Zion being wiped out, and them showing that we're STUCK in the Matrix now. Also, they answered very few of the questions left over from the previous movie.
While I did like the movie, I felt it could have been done better. Something more... Matrix like... instead of the usual "humans win" theme that's so common nowadays.
Oh well. LOTR:ROTK is coming next month. Waiting for that one. :)
