Hello!

I just wanted to know...what type of rank system is used in here ?

I mean at how many posts how user gets ranks and titles ?

Oops, you are correct. "Guru" was at one time an awarded status, but we don't do that any more and people remain "fanatics" until they reach 4097 when they can change it if they want to.

Here is an updated list:

Lunatic - Bad connotation
Guru - Implies someone with expert skills and while that is probably true of most people with over 1024 posts, I'm sure that it is not true about all.

how about we give them a star ranking...out of 10 stars...

0001-0199 --> new member
0200-0399 --> 1 star
0400-0559 --> 2 star
0600-0799 --> 3 star
0800-0999 --> 4 star
1000-1199 --> 5 star
1200-1399 --> 6 star
1400-1599 --> 7 star
1600-1799 --> 8 star
1800-1999 --> 9 star
2000-more --> 10 star

doesn't have to be a star though...we can have a nice gif like attached...

thats some one for 200 - 399 status...red light activates as post count goes higher...all u need to do is make 11 images and put it...and after 4096 someone wants to put custom name then can put it...

I'm not considering titles that imply any given level of knowledge like "Guru" or "Expert" because that does not fit the pattern of the other titles, and it is possible (but unlikely) that a person could reach the new level through questions only, or by way of a lot of junk answers.

I don't have access to the underlying database. I don't understand why my change didn't take immediate effect since all the other changes I make (eg new forum, mofied color scheme, user post count) do.

The status will probably change when you post, e.g a user with 1575 posts will get his status changed, when he posts again. Not sure though.

I must admit having different stages to get to enticed me to post more (yes I know how sad that sounds) ;) :p

Not too keen on the Ultra menmber selection myself though :( like the idea of the Dedicated or Resident ones, probably the best one is HB's Devoted status.

What about an ultra guru one - i.e. when you get to 10,000 you become the best of the best & have an alex_read status...

Hmm, I think "Frenzied" and "Ultra" sound pretty gay, maybe should be something like "Sick" and "Parliament"... pretty crap ideas also, but if the names stick as frenzied and ultra, I won't be trying to hit those targets any time soon... I must be on what, 160 ish?
