Yet again my mouse had decided to be temperamental, so I've decided it's about time I got myself a decent one. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations :)

Ok I have had to replace my mouse three times. But the one I have now is amazingly great.
Its a Logitech Optical Mouse with mouse wheel. I highly recommend it.
gotta love my MS Intellimouse Optical :)

Thanks, I'll have a look at those :)
No matter what brand you end up getting make sure you get an optical mouse. They last much longer.
i can lend you a mouse if you want while you get a new one ??
are you going to get grumps to pay for it ?? oh and get a new keyboard while you are at it :)
It works okay for a bit if I whack it, so I'll do that until I get a new one :p
I'll pay for it myself and try to con grumps into giving me the money back, hee hee :)
Now to look for keyboards.....
Heh get one of those folding keyboards :D They look cool, but I would hate to use them.
the intellimouse is great
Yeah folding keyboards do look very cool, I saw one a while back but didn't know how good it would be to type on (can't be worse than this one though lol)
They would be alot easier to clean, just wave it in the air :D . I just dont like the rubbery feeling.
:D
Any brand of mice will do (I prefer Logitech) but just make sure it satisfies the following criteria.
1) It's optical
2) It has a mouse wheel
3) It's 3 buttons (Note: some mice have the wheel act as a button when you press it)
Thanks megatron :)
The bluish Logitech Optical wheel mouse is mine, and it's HOT HOT HOT!
White Logitech optical here. $10. Great mouse.
MS intellimouse optical. it's the only way to go! :)
I recently got a Logitech wireless 2x optical mouse. This is definitely the best mouse I've ever used.
Logitech makes much better mice then M$
I have the first ever ms optical mouse, it's silly;)
Their MouseWare is crap though...I use IntelliMouse software even though I have a simple Logitech mouse.Quote:

Who the hell needs software for a mouse  just plug the bastard in.
Nic the best place to get your mouse and keyboard from would be the CompSci shop in town, face it you wont find any prices that are cheaper than his :p
I'm convince the wheel mouses are bad for you over time. I found a dirt cheap (about US$7) Mitsumi mouse that has a button that clicks up or down instead of a wheel.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone :)
I have a blue wireless optical Logitech mouse that's the bees knees, managing to be both functional and stylish.
I have to keep cycling rechargable batteries through it though as it flattens two every 4-7 days.
But the best thing is.... it's got a cool red light underneath it!!!!!! :)
What is so bad about the wheel?Quote:

What i do more than wheeling it is click on the wheel, and then move the mouse up or down. that scrolls the page too.
Good choice. I have that one too ;)Quote:

I was going to get the logitech one, but the msft one seemed to fit my hand better. go figure.
Which mouse do you have? I also have a blue wireless optical mouse from logitech, and the battery's supposed to last for months. So far, the battery's been fine for a week.Quote:

I have both the logitech optical wireless blue one and teh microsoft optical explorer (or something like that). I use the M$ on most of the time just cos it is easier and seems to responed better...the logitech get a bit wierd after a few days and I can't be bothered to keep replacing the batteries...teh M$ one also fits my hand better!
i have the silver intellimouse explorer...5 buttons if you count the mouse wheel as a button, looks good with my comp too :)
Got my new mouse now....it's sliver and blue and has a red light underneath :D
Thanks again everyone for your help :)
Its logitech right? Mine is silver and blue and has a red light under it :p
Nope it isn't Logitech, although the logitech ones were quite good :). The one I've got suits either hand (I sometimes use the mouse left-handed) which is quite cool; can't remember what make it is actually :p
I have the bluish logitech with the red light... but mine vibrates >=)!

i just plug my mouse in and go, both linux and windows recognise no problem that it is a wheel optical.
Cheap MS IntelliMouse Eye (2 button + wheel, no extras) for about £15, dead nice, fits my hand perfectly and worked first time under USB :)
anyone use a trackball?
I personnaly can't stand them, but I know people that refuse
to work on a pc unless they can use their trackballs...
I also know one person who isn't working anymore. :)
I've had a go with one, couldn't get used to it though
My wife recieved a mouse for a birthday present that was..
...get this... shaped like a mouse.
the cord was it's tail and you pressed two buttons on its backside
to click. It's very cute, but the friend that gave it to her didn't
see it as a joke, more as a real present... sad.
