Yay you :)
i know, that was my main point in the browser war around christmas time, OPERA ROCKS! :p unfortunately you have to register to get rid of that add, but it is lots smaller than ie
You dork, use a real browser.

Opera owns IE in several ways, but it has some bugs and some forms and on pages doesn't seem to work at all, so I use IE to complement that.
But why Opera rules:
1. Mouse gestures (can't live without them)
2. Multiple pages in same browser
3. Saves all page url's when closing
4. Favourites pane - clearly rules IE when it comes to organising and accessing(and searching) url's
5. Speed - Opera owns IE
6. Memory - Opera eats quite a deal if you have tons of pages but a lot less than IE
there's a lot of other smaller details in addition to these that makes Opera a winner.
Keddie i totally agree but didnt want to get into this discussion with justin again!
Justin:
Your joking right??
Sure you do.... ;)Quote:

ANYWAY, apart from some rendering problems, which is really due to Microsoft's total ****ing of the actual HTML standards, it kicks ****ing ass.... :)
Of course...but I DO firmly believe IE is the best web browser...i like Opera's features a lot, but the engine plain sucks.Quote:

Someone on VBF should work on a browser that uses the IE engine but has cool features like Opera :)
I think the main problem would be that you couldnt get it running faster because of IE's engine!
***? :confused:Quote:

IE owns Opera because it runs DHTML, JavaScript, and VBSCRIPT flawlessly.
If we did make a browser based on ie engine!Quote:

Well you could add all the features but it still would be slow!
I dont think you cna just get your hands on the rendering engine!
GOATSE:
You think??
I see ;) well I'm not very good with programming I'll give you that :pQuote:

You could perhaps use the Gecko rendering engine!
maybe!
Is that what they use in Netscape? If it is then it's even worse than opera. If you don't believe me, ask another hard-shelled member in particular...Quote:

if AOL starts using the Gecko engine I'm gonna have to design for that POS and I'm gonna die.
yeah right! you just think it is flawless because you are using that as the standard. If another browser doesn't render a page just like IE, well, it must be wrong? Hardly.. look at the w3c standard, and you see that IE does not render them flawlesslyQuote:

Renders best than most. If I were arsed to actually INSTALL opera I'd show you how it doesn't obey the table widths one specifies. Among other things.Quote:

IE and Opera are both reasonably W3C compliant though...Gecko/Netscape has MAJOR issues.
you don't make a convincing argument if you can't be arsed
Fine....*grumbles to install Opera*Quote:

No argument is convincing when you use the word 'arsed'Quote:

Totally agree i've said this many many times and if MS dont want to comply with standards because they think they are to big for them well one day soon it will bite them in the ass!!Quote:

JUSTIN:
Dunno mozilla uses it i know that! And i like mozilla! :)
Oh so now your saying IE isn't W3C compliant?Quote:

I'm sure it's just as compliant if not more than Opera!
what major issues?Quote:

i thought netscape was better than IE? in all my tests it has been...
Here's the block of HTML code...specifies that this table cell is supposed to be 175px wide

That's opera...that's not even CLOSE to 175px!! ***??
In IE however...
http://66.56.105.80/ie3.gif
That's 175px TO THE NUMBER.
That's just the closest example I can find...anyone else got any others they want to show me?
Well to a degree but it uses extra non-standard features!Quote:

Works fine in IE. Doesn't budge in Opera. Had to go with a regular old boring mouseover navbar instead of a fancy drop down menu.Code:<a href="#" onmouseover="Layer1.style.visibility = 'visible';"><img
src="http://www.domain.com/image.jpg"></a>
<div id=Layer1 style="position: absolute; width: 150px; height: 150px; background: black; color:
white; visibility: hidden;">blah blah</div>
 I hate netscape. Opera is TOLERABLE..but i wouldn't use it..Netscape is pure ****.
What's wrong with extra stuff? the more the merrier :)Quote:

Not if it inst supported by others.
It's like making a road only built for Dunlop tyres!
I guess you could blame it on Microsoft, but you mostly can blame it on the ones who design the sites like that.Quote:

joe shmoe doesn't know better though
Joe Shmoe doesn't design websites, and Joe Shmoe who uses IE is guaranteed compatibility with most web sites...Quote:

I know it may not be fair but that's the way the world is? Might as well use the browser that works best.
OMG, I actually agree with him. A comparision would would probably be drug dealers and drug users. Just because its being offered, doesn't mean you need to use it.Quote:

Thats a poor comparison crpt!
I know plently of ppl who can sort of code in say vbscript, html etc but dont know much about programming.
They dont know the difference they just use MS Frontpage and voila they have a web site they dont know anything about browsers and rendering and crap.
Meh, what do I know?Quote:
