what is the highest safe temp my 1700 can go?
Highest SAFE temp...probably 60ish
I wouldn't EVER go that high though.
What's it at now? Is it OCed?
Mines at 44.
Thing is it still dont know what my if the temp its reading is my CPU it might just be the board temp.
It says its 42 C could the board be that high?
Is the sensor set to Winbond 2? I think that's usually the CPU...Quote:

42C sounds about right...
according to Smartguarding temp1 is 201 C and temp 2 is 40-42. In the bios temp 1 is 40-42 and temp 2 is -51C its all ****ed up
Actually it's not. 40-42 seems right...Quote:

Yep. Actually a little low since your cooler really isn't the greatest. Or maybe it is good :)
mine usually hovers in the high 40's, my case is nice and cool though  i have a bunch of case fans
Whoo! 35C on my 1600
Is there a way to increase teh FBS by 1 increments?
It's FSBQuote:

And you do it in the BIOS. Haven't you overclocked yet?:p
no lol I tryed 140 and it wouldnt get past the bios. So I thought I would try 1 increments.
Ok I just tired the 140 fsb again it asks me for boot disk ???
my o/ced 1700 is at 1900, and my temps are 38-41
try raising your voltage
my vcore is 1.77 right now
Bump it up a little higher, along with your DDR voltages...then try itQuote:

i havn't overclocked, my CPU temps are high enough as it is, i want to get a CPU fan that goes at a higher speed, the one i have sucks ****
I think you'd more benefit from a better heatsink and fan than you would from just a new fan. Most local shops use ****ty heatsinks and no thermal pasteQuote:

yeah thermal paste and a good heatsink will help...im running on .750 and o/c to 145 fsb with 39c-41c
Yep. If your board fits it get a Thermalright AX-7 a tube of AS3 and a quiet 80mm fan..:)Quote:

hmm i wonder if they did put thermal paste on mine, although i really don't care to check incase i crack the CPU putting that monster heatsink back on (it is actually a nice one :p )
Why does this happen?Quote:

Maybe your hard drive really hates any type of FSB OC.Quote:

Funny, my Maxtor has no problems with OCQuote:

maybe it's just the Soltek board :( oh well...you don't really notice it anyway
I dont think its the board because others have OC with my board and 1700 on other forums. Mabye its my ram.
What brand of RAM are you using?Quote:

You've raised your CPU and DDR voltages? If you don't raise the voltages it won't overclock :p
Well then how might I do that :DQuote:

Should be right in the BIOS...or try some jumpers.Quote:

Check your board manual...
The important thing is not to raise them too high. Tell me what your going to raise them to before you do so.
Mine is at +0.70 for the DDR (I think) and +0.1 for the CPU.
So 1.87 for the cpu and what for Ram? up .70?
See how high the settings go and get back to me :)
Just SEE how high they go don't change them quite yet, although you can bump the CPU up to 1.85 or somit
The highes the CPu can go is 1.85 and I couldnt find the Mem V :(
Bring teh CPU to 1.85 and then try it doubt youll get anywhere.Quote:

No mem voltage did you check teh manual?
Doubt i'll get anywhere? The mem can go to 2.7 after looking at the manuel. Is there a danger of damaging anything with V that high?Quote:

What's default for the memory?Quote:

What I'm saying is if you don't raise the DDR voltage you probably won't get anywhere.
2.5
Sure, raise it to 2.7 ;)
Ok you sure lol, so CPU V to 1.85 and Mem to V 2.7 promise me I wont fry anything!
Yes, mine is somit like that...my CPU is definitely 1.85. Mem I'm not sure but its +0.70
Give it a shot if you wish
I only want to get it up to 1.53 (xp 1800?) since that is the highest my heatsink/fan can support.
XP1800...yes.Quote:

Don't worry about what it says on the box. If your temperatures are low, keep going. if you live in an Icebox, your cooler could not even be certified for 1Ghz but it might run fine. Kalicki for example has an 80cfm fan on his Duron 800 and his temps are still about 30-somit C..because his room is hot as hell.
Depends on the environment largely.
my temp as of this moment is 40C how high will it go at 1800 roughly. and does this small OC decrease my comps life span?
Only your processor, if anything. How long do you plan on keeping this chip?Quote:

Overclocking won't decrease the life of the chip, high temperatures are what does it. If you get a bad ass cooler it'll keep your temps low.
I'd say 40C is about reasonable, it's what I'm getting.
but your getting 40c OC i am normal
Well my cooler is better than yours :pQuote:

Only one way to know for sure..take it up to 1.53 and look at your temps.
How long you plan on keeping this chip for?
Ok
Vcore registers 1.85, mem is 2.7
I did fsb at 140
So its going at 1.47 ghz temp is 43 C
what is the best method of cooling your CPU (well without going all out and getting a big a$$ water cooling system) :p, i have an aluminum heat sink about 3 cm high, would it be worth my while to get another heat sink? if so could you reccomend one? then added the fans in my case it made it alot cooler in there but it didn't cool my CPU fan down any (mainly because the CPU fan is near some ventilation holes and gets most of its air from my room), ayn good, quite fans that i could stick in there? right now it is around 50 and i think i might try overclocking if ican get the CPU temp down more.
Wait a minuute...isn't this a 1.47 gig chip to begin with...so if the FSB is 140 how's it at 1.47 gig :confused:Quote:

Heh your right :) so at 140 fsb its 11 * 140 which i 1540 ? which is as fast as the 1800? but on sandra soft test the 1800 was ahead.
