After all, the president of the EU has come out AGAINST it. :ehh: SARCASM
And what does the EU have to do with the Iraqi legal system?
Exactly.Quote:

There was only ever going to be one outcome from this trial. Iraq has moved on, for better or worse, one more death isn't going to make much difference.
Ask a Kurd or a Shiite if they give a rats arse what opinion the president of the EU has. Actually, as any one anywhere if they care what the president of the EU says.Quote:

Is hanging the actuall form of capital punishment or do you think they'll gas or zap him?
Well now that the verdict is in, wouldn't it be easiest if he just had a "heartattack" in his cell or some such.
Personally, I think they should stuff him in a cess pit and keep him there, but there's probably a good reason that I'm not a judge....
It's a Finnish man; I don't know if he's a communist. The presidency of the EU changes hands every six months, so yeah; he'll probably go soon.Quote:

About hanging Saddam Hussein... I'm assuming that George Bush and Tony Blair going to be lynched along with Saddam Hussein? After all... It is a fair trial...
Wow, good one. Did you come up with that one all by yourself?Quote:

If I were to put money on it, I would say that Saddam will not die from hanging. They can go through the motions, do appeals, speechify at people for a bit, but ultimately, on a country spiraling into an increasingly open civil war, I think Saddam is a sore that they would be well rid of. I don't feel strongly about it, but I would put the odds around 55:45 that he will be given the Goering option, and take it.

Goering. Nasty piece of work. Still he had some remarkable insights towards the governance of people . . . .Quote:

That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country"
Sound familiar?
Sad but oh so true :( . And in an age where TV and the internet have made direct propaganda so much more effective than it was even for Goering, will we ever be able to truly trust what our governments or media tell us again? Or we we all just believe what we want to and simply search for an outlet that tells us we're right?Quote:

Shaggy, I'm thinking along the same lines as you but I reach the popposite conclusion. In a country spiralling into chaos I think the death of Saddam is going to provide too strong a milestone for the incumbant government to pass up. The west will object and speechify loudly (while quietly encouraging the execution, in some cases) and ultimately the Iraqi government will hang him anyway.
While we're chucking in quotes: "Democracy is the worst form of government - except for all the rest" - Churchill
What west are you talking about?Quote:

Whether or not any of them will actually mean it is another matter entirely.
Another Winny quote: Dogs look up to you, Cats look down on you, but a pig will treat you as an equal. :)
this Kurd says if he is not hanged, he will be hunted down.
If it is left to ME, i will make sure of that.
yes, who gives a shiat about what EU presidents think? surely their children werent murdered infront of them or their mother/sisters raped in front of them on the commands of Saddam...
I don't care what the president of the EU thinks; I only included that remark as a joke.Quote:

I'm sure that if you put that question to him, it would leave him speachless.
Well I'm just trying to get stories from both sides of the party. I want to make a unbiased decision :D
That was more like the Jeremy Paxman question :D
If you want to do it Jeremy Paxman-style, you have to ask the same question about 100 times.  :lol:Quote:
