That is by far the ugliest SG I have ever seen. Fender and Gibsons are a rip off any way. they use cheap wood and krappy hardware then charge you 5 grand for their version of a top of the line guitar. Better off building your own out of quality material for half the price. If you don't feel comfortable building your own, there are a ton of handmade ones out there waiting to be built.

But. I have a Fender Tele and its great. Best guitar i own. I also have a strat which is almost as good. I love fender. Its fender till the end for me.

How long has everyone been playing?

Had the guitars about 2 years and I'm on chapter 3 in my "Teach Yourself Rock Guitar: Beginner" book :thumb:

I just download sheet music and play that way.

I said the same thing as well until I unserstood what makes a guitar sound like it does. I still have my strat. It sounds like 200 billion other guitars out there, shieitty. Once you play a guitar with at least a 1/2 or most a 3/4 tennen you'll get it. Not one dead spot on those necks. the 20 something frets sound just as powerfull as the 1'st fret. Fender and Gibson use cheaper wood. Cheap wood = inferrior resonation. Bolt on neck = weaker guitar and dead spots. Fenders and gibsons sound ok, but for the ammount of cash they rape out of you, Why not build your own that will fit you and sound better?

$7,000 for a les paul? Keep that assembly line krap.

EMG has a pretty sweet set of pickups for the SG. The only bad part is they are battery powered so you'll need to stock up on the duracells.

Neah, I've used them for years. The batteries last a long time. Just keep a handfull of fresh ones in your case/gig bag. It's a small price to pay for the extra crunch they give you. :cool:

I just checked EMG's site. It looks like the only package they have are for strats. The ones I saw must have been a guitar shop combo. If I remember correctly, the one I played had a p81 and a p60 or p60-a in it. I'd double check though and make sure the pickups aren't too tall for an SG.

I got a nice new epiphone les paul, i love it, its beefy.
