Is this the best looking car... EVER?

As many serious VBF users know, i've been looking for a new car recently... and saw this :drool:

I've looked at/test driven...

Peugeot 206GTi180 --> Sadly... it was crap!
Honda Civic Type-R --> Wow... just wow!
Vauxhall Astra GSi Turbo --> Very VERY nice, quicker then Civic Type-R too!
BMW 316Ti SE --> Awful, really terrible!
BMW 318Ti Sport --> Quicker, but just as terrible and uninteresting as 316!
Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo --> Soooooo damn quick, it's scary!
Mazda RX-8 --> Beautiful car, drink's fuel like it's going out of fashion, and requires a top-up of oil... wait for it.... every 2 tanks of fuel! I'm not kidding! Rotary engine... not cost effective!

Now the Volvo S40 T5 Turbo!!!

I've gone through *litterally* hundreds of insurance companies trying to find the best quote. Here are some results...

Subaru Impreza: £2119 with 0yrs NCD
Volvo S40 T5 Turbo: Haven't priced it yet...
Vauxhall Astra GSi Turbo: £1875 with 0yrs NCD
Honda Civic Type-R: £2002.81 with 0yrs NCD
Mazda RX-8: £4027 with 0yrs NCD @ £1025 excess

Mad figures, I know... but it'll be worth it! I'm just about to ring Volvo to see if I can shed a few grand of the £23,995 list price of the T5 Turbo model.

I'll keep ya informed!

I like boxes. Not a big fan of wheels, though. I took the wheels off my box and threw on some skis. Now it works like a charm!

That's not bad really, when you think just how quick some of those cars are! The scooby should cost the most in theory...

The Volvo S40 T5 isn't out until Feb 2004, so lets hope it's worth holding back for...

The Honda screams "aaaarrrrrrrghhhhhhhh, holy christ!" at 6000RPM as it's in that widely acclaimed VTEC 'zone'... but the Astra GSi screams at 2500RPM because of that sweeeet turbo. But then the Scooby also has a turbo, and still does 0-60 in 5.5s! I'm looking for a dump valve ATM, so you'll know i'm coming... cause you'll hear me from 300 miles! :p

I'll check again... but I don't think I can quite stretch to the Porsche's price! :D :D :D I agree though... it's a cracking car, but i'm afraid the ol' Ferrari F355 would suit me fine! It's not as quick as that Porsche; not by a long way! But it sure looks nice! Better than the Enzo too!

Anywayz, i'm off to raid The Hobo's car seats for that 350K! Heeheeee :lol:

Don't you have robot camera speed traps all the place in the UK? Between that and the insurance how can you afford to speed :confused:

It's bad enough here with radar gun wielding cops all over the place. I miss California where they couldn't radar you on the highway. They had to follow you to verify your speed or get you from a plane.

Yeah... but us brit's also have GATSO detectors... so pig's with wands can go screw! :p

I'm not a fan of speeding, but I do like a car with plenty of poke... should you ever need it! Something like a Ford Fiesta 1.1i 60BHP! :D :D :D

Before I started driving, I promised myself I wouldn't speed... but there are times/busy schedules which require you to be a little over-zealous with the ol' gas pedal! But speed is nothing without control, so the aim with my new car isn't outright speed, but to be a better, safer..... .... .... ... boy racer!

my sister and I share a honda civic, a year old this past august. piece of crap so far.

trunk won't close correctly, even after bringing it back to the dealer twice. And it costs $40 for a spare key for the damned thing! :mad:

Funny you should mention the Astra...

I'm trying to decide if I should buy a £15499 Astra GSi, and spend a couple of grand moddin' it to 345BHP @ 4000RPM (412lb Torque @ 1950) or buy a £20000 Scooby WRX turbo, and just buy a dump valve and performance pack?!?!?! It would only be 265BHP with the performance pack, but it does 0-62 in 4.4secs, and puts all that power down through four wheels (or all wheels as Subaru put it! :p ).

The Astra GSi is lightning quick anyway, but Regal (www.regal-shop.co.uk) do some fantastic mods which transform it from a quick car... to a fantastic supercar hunter! :D

Scooby or Gsi ? Hmm...

The Scooby WRX Turbo is iconic but 20K, but the Astra GSi is under-rated and costs a mere 15.5K... I CAN'T DECIDE!
