A while back, there was an ill-fated attempt to get a VB-World (unofficial) IRC channel going. I thought it would be a nice idea to try and restart that, but this time on an existing network rather than someone needing to run a server off their computer.
If anyone's interested, head over to irc.zirc.org, and channel #vbworld :)
If you don't already have an IRC client, the easiest for Windows is probably mIRC (http://www.mirc.com), and for Unix, X-Chat is a good client to use (my personal choice -- http://www.xchat.org).
Hope you have better luck than I did parksie :p Anyway, I'll pop in when I can, see if at least 2 people can be there :p

That IRC channel does not have a sense of a real community. I am going to start my own IRC channel that isn't run by big corporate mobo's, and I will advertise it repeatedly in my signature and in other threads, including this one.

I started it because I wanted a sense of community. Something that is sadly lacking here.

I learned the protocol with Telnet and know have made my own basic client

I made an OCX with it for my brother so he can use it to develop bots. He used to write all his bots in mirc. But it's way more powerfull when you use Visual Basic.
