noppies, basketball was invented by canadians
(we have like a heritage commerical)
and if it wasnt invented by us, i think US would take over Canada for airing those commercials if it wasnt true :)
I thought Nike invented basketball
commercials? When I went to the basketball hall of fame (springfield mass.) they had a whole story...a gym teacher invented it with peach baskets.

i am pretty sure its part of heritage, than again i wasnt THERE when it was invented so i am going with what i know
I was there! :p hehehe jk
well, ego's are stopping us from the truth
he he yap you are correct..
the only reason i think we invented it is cus
they run all these commercials on how canadians did good things in the past, like women getting into medicine.. etc
and that basketball commercial is one of those heritage stuff
:)
This proves you are correct
now my question is why the hell do we air that commercial? :)
if i have time i will email CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Copr..) and tell them to piss off or tell us the "real" history

Basket Ball (the original name of the game) was invented in 1891 by Dr. James Naismith, a teacher at the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. At Hoophall.com, the official site of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, we learned that, "The game of basketball was the result of a challenge from a teacher to his student to pique the interest of an incorrigible class during the usually dull winter months."
Apparently, the class was tired of calisthenics and Naismith's instructor assigned him the duty of inventing a new indoor sport. Taking to the task at hand, Naismith rounded up two peach baskets (the janitor didn't have any boxes handy) and a soccer ball. Next, he developed 13 rules for the new game.
He divided his class of 18 into 2 teams of 9 players each (the team today would be the equivalent of 3 guards, 3 centers, and 3 forwards) and set about to teach them the basics of b-ball.
The object of the game was to throw the soccer ball into the peach baskets nailed to the lower railing of the gym balcony. Every time a point was scored, the game was halted so the janitor could lug out a ladder and retrieve the ball. Of course, that didn't happen too often -- the score of the very first basketball game ever played was an amazingly low 1-0.
A lot has happened since the introduction of the game and basketball has undergone many changes, both in equipment and rules.
For more information about the game, be sure to visit the Sports > Basketball category in the Yahoo! directory

LOL LMAO. Still, it was in Springfield like the the Hall of Fame says. I've been there too. The whole story about the coach is on the Internet somewhere too.
<edit> I see you guys already found this out. Funny story anyway, I always get a kick out of a proud canadian who tells me the story about how they invented basketball. I used to live in Springfield, MA. Know who else lived there? Dr. Suess! No kidding.</edit>
ARG! he invented it in amercia but was canadian!?!?!?! so all of this was basically for nothing since we were all true

0 = Indian Mathematician.. i wont say who implemented because i dont want to brag, if you want to know it, look it up
yep....good old zero....helped math very much..... :D :D :D :D
i would say MOST of the advancement of computer
or even the invention of computers would go to that mathematician AND the people that actually put 0 to use
without it
what would binary be? ahh lets not go there and be thankful for 0 :)
WEll without his work, computers wouldnt be possible yes(nor would virtually any modern math)...but he isnt directly responsible for its development.
Anyways...B-Ball was invented my James Naismith in Springfield. But he was canadian. You can make your own conclusions from that:p
yes he invented 0, but i dont know if he was high on somethingQuote:

CD-I was never really advertised(i think) thats why there didnt sell many..
it also had some awesome games. gotta find that sucker
it was basically a DVD players on which you could also play games/go online. it was pretty cool
