You are a gentleman and a scholar! A community book is just what we need!
In fact, here it is:
The FAI That Could - The story of Moti Barski, a forum and the desparate efforts to stave off insanity
I've started it, but feel free to add and edit to it as you all desire. The password is vbforums1.
That site is a super easy site for online collaboration like this. We can even go back revisions if a certain someone deletes what we've already written ;)
And, don't forget to use the Battke Programming 2011 3rd Edition "book" as a reference!
Happy writing!
Here's something interesting to try
1. Read the section about making a human doll. The part about drilling a hole for the mouth and using hot water bottles aludes to its intended purpose.
2. Now, remember the writer's likeness from the Youtube videos.
3. Combine the two points and enjoy the mental image.
I believe the Moti-vacated right out of this thread. And thus another fine chapter comes to an end.
He'll be back to warn us when his AI becomes self aware and is about to take over the world.
Maybe we should build a robot to go back in time kill him before he creates it. It can be called "The Terminator"
But the robot could take sides with his AI and together they could create the Matrix.
I'm not sure the Matrx would come out of that. Probably something more akin to a psychadelic trance.
Like the "Happy ..... happy ..... happy ..... KILL THE PRIME MINISTER OF MALASIA!" from Zoolander. =)
update request for wierddemon :
1 got a job passing flayers for a plumber, will use money for robot, bp chapter :
NAVIGATION FOR QUERIERS is prooving to be usefull, walking 15KM per day
2 contacted royal society (of science), and requested assistance for finding testers in my region
and reviews, and i was ignored, I believe theire actual job is to use scientific techniques to measure crap
3 working on bp 4
floccinaucinihilipilification has a reverse effect on us
Yeah, those tradesmen'll skin you alive if you don't watch 'em.Quote:

One of their more disturbing episodes. But still funny as hell :)
What you mean you can get 'Holy Crap' too?, does the pope have to bless it ?Quote:
Holy cr**
No it's an actual word, there are different spellings of it but basically it means 'Valueless' or or of 'little value'.Quote:

Did you actually invent that word? Your AI seems to be making rapid strides!
What it means in the context of Moti's sentence i have no idea !
From the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary (the big 2-volume 1, 1992 edition):
Attachment 83407
So Moti's meaning was clear. It's the word "us" that worries me:rolleyes:.

No you have to intercept a pope's flush.
Exactly!
I encourage you to feel free to measure that as long as you so desire, and using any metric you want, just so long as it doesn't involve me. For my part, my estimation of its value is sufficient, and I have no desire to make any further measurements....but you go ahead.....whatever floats your boat.
It's a crappy job, but somebody's gotta do it...
I think I'll just pull up a stool and watch the show.
This thread Smells !!
You've never had one peek out and then dart back in (usually painfully) ??
Mmmm. Mental images. This thread has gone to the dumps.
A turtle poking its head out?
As a fish biologist, you have surely made extensive study of the mud shark.
No, but I AM familiar with the brown trout.
Yeah, except now we are the ones writing nonsense, not Motti.
Also, you can always read/edit the community book:

The FAI That Could - The Story of Moti Barski, a Forum and The Desparate Efforts To Stave Off Insanity
Chapter 1 – Jest in Time Compilation
It was a dark and stormy night. Deep within the recesses of his own mind, moti barski considered himself to be a legend. It was time for the world to know about his invention. But before anything could be done, he would need to create a doll. Yes, just an ordinary doll.
But this is no ordinary doll! This doll would be the personification of his life’s work! 7 years in the making, YotaMarker would soon become a reality, in software and in real life. Being a connoisseur of dolls, he knew everything about them. How to collect dolls, dress them and even make them. He knew so much about them, he had even written an excerpt in his soon to be published book, Battle Programming 2011 3rd Edition.
HOW TO MAKE A HUMAN SIZED DOLL
can be used as decoy
fill cloth (like tites) with doll fiber or cotton, metal wood or plastic to simulate bones, add a hot watter
filled bottle
where possible inside, finally add a big doll head (and drill the mouth open).
His many years of hard work and determination would soon pay off and his invention would come to fruition shortly.
Chapter 2 – This Too Shall Pass
Moti stood outside his school, taking in the familiar sights, sounds and even smells the first day of school would bring. Kids were talking and playing with each other. The boys were teasing the girls, bullies picked on the small children and the teachers attempted to get control of the kids. Everyone was doing something.
Except Moti. This school year would be like every other. He would pass unnoticed and without friends or companionship.
But not this year! This year he would release his FAI unto the world. He was tired of being friendless, so he would show the world that he didn’t need to find friends when he could make his own. His insanity would even have him believe that his FAI could pass the Turing test, become his best friend and more importantly, his girlfriend.
His new FAI combined with his doll making skills would make him legendary. He couldn’t wait to get home so he could finish uploading the necessary software, warm up a bottle of hot water and drill a hole in the doll’s head for… additional activities.
if you must know at high school i tried to solve time travel (and managed to calc the speed of light), you see i hated school because they weren't teaching me anything usefull (like in macgyver) just unneeded stuff like literature ,bible and math, i was brain washed to believe a g.e.d (here it's called a bagrut certificate) was neccessary to get a job and stuff, I started working on the yotamarker after school
Yeah, who needs math anyway.
That's always a positive thing. Why didn't you include that in the book? Seems like a subject that would be highly relevant and consistent with the major theme of the book.
Et (hight energy) = -GM\R (given formula)
g = G*Et\(K*R^2) (given formula)
1\K = (G^2*Me/R^3*g) (formulas combined)
my idea was M\K= E with K being work generated by time (as in e=mC^2)
then place earth constants into 3rd equation
K = (6.4*10^6)^3*9.83\(6.67*10^-11)^2*6*6*10^24
k = c^2 = 9.653627159^16
Thank you. For the golden orb of Apollo, which rises faithfully from the eastern rim of the world, spreading it's life-giving warmth across the firmament and driving before it the cold darkness of the night, has rarely, nay, perhaps never, in it's timeless and august reign, illuminated so eloquent, so succinct, so magnificent, a statement of the obvious as that which you have supplied.
This line doesn't seem right, either:
1\K = (G^2*Me/R^3*g)
It seems like it should be:
1\K = -(G^2*Me/R^3*g)
i just keep laughing as i read through this thread lol
We'll be at a thousand posts before we even realize it :P
We were a little shaky towards the middle though. We had a great start, then the thread started to die, and now it's back!
I want to see more videos of the FAI in action though. I'd like to see it do something more practical than just spitting out random stuff.
I wish we could actually talk to it, if it actually remotely exists it could be more fun than this thread :bigyello:
i left a phone message at some prof of tel aviv university if he ignores me i will pull out the big guns (metaforic guns)
Mottti pulls out a word like "floccinaucinihilipilification" then follows that up with "metaforic". Oh the ironing is delicious.
Ironing is delicious? Hmmm, never tried that. The iron burns my tongue.
@Moti: Profs are motivated by different things in different types of universities. Not hearing back from one probably means that you approached the problem the wrong way. Frankly, I would guess that a phone message is a pretty poor medium for contacting a prof, based on the ones I have known in college and grad school. The reason is that few people can convey any meaningful inew concept in a phone message without sounding totally insane unless they already have a working relationship with the person they are contacting. I would suggest that the written word, even if only e-mail, would be better than a phone message, and not some one-line message, either. The first line or so has to contain the weight of the whole body, while the rest is supporting material. If you catch their interest with the first paragraph, they will read the rest. If you fail with the first paragraph, the rest isn't worth your time.
