Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Ok, if I have time I'll try to clean some codes and pass it to you guys and remain with the same version (I guess coz the purpose is just to clean things). I hope we have a proper project webspace on noteme (if NoteMe, of course, allows it). Docs, Blog, etc...

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Maybe we can get CVS setup somewhere.
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
You should have a look at this Source Code Managment Software
http://subversion.tigris.org/
Its an improvement to CVS

Subversion, that was it.

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
To my Extension developer comrades, I want to discuss something with you guys. I have been toying around with some thoughts of a new generation of the tool. I would like to move away from the right click popup window, and turn it into a floating toolbox. It could be minimized and moved around and would make it more efficient to use possibly. I really want to move this to a higher level. What do you guys think?

Well it could be tabbed, and then it could be minimized to a little box at the bottom right or left of the page when not in use. I am just brainstorming really.

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
DO you think it would be possible to show/hide it with a shortcut key? Still not sure though. Since it would require more mouse movement then the current solution. But I have to think about it a bit more. More outlining of the product, and sketches are welcome if you have some nice ideas....
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Yeah, it is possible to control its visibilty with shortcuts.
I'll try some mockups when I get some free time.
There is so much more we can do with this thing. It is even possible to add html images, buttons, etc to the pages to really extend vbforums.com. Heck we could even go so far as using Ajax to take advantage of XMLHTTP web services to do all sorts of nifty little things, like add extra user notes that can be turned on and off about a user that is stored on some other server that extension users can see if they want.
Again this is all just ideas off the top of my head. Maybe we can pull something off, maybe not.

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Are you sure we can do all that? This site doesn't allow HTML you know....
but the idea sounds interesting though..I just can't see how it is possible as long as HTML isn't enable.

What the site allows is irrelevant. All that happens on the client side. You can change the entire look of a page in a extension. I could make an extension that replaces your avatar with a pensi if I wanted to. Of course its only visible to other Extension users.

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
OK, got you...well it sounds nice...but also kind of breakes the idea with what this extension is/was, and that can both be good and bad.
After all, it is the same thing happening in the IE world. MSN adds a lot of funky stuff to their IE client, and the other IE clients that can log on to the MSN protocol can't see all the funky stuff an MSN user is sending. Fun in one way, annoying in an other way.
Still thinking about the idea..:)

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
BTW, does this mean that we can also reformat the whole page? The same way as if we had access to the CSS? Could we paint the page red and put the add on the bottom of the page, and add links and extend the amount of smilies to the right of the box I am writing in right now and so on?
Question 2, are Brad going to ban us now..:D

Yes. We could apply a whole different CSS if we wanted too. I'm not saying change how VBF looks entirely, I am just giving examples of how far you can push the etension.
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
I would enjoy making a new style sheet for VBF...:D

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Just wondering, does anyone here own this page?
http://fx-extension.gada.be/

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Yes, but there was a mix-up in registration, I guess.

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
OK, I don't get this....look at the main domain:
http://gada.be/
now they have vbforums.com there too under referals, since dglienna probably clicked the link. I don't get this...what kind of site is this?

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
I found out what it is....:D::DDD:DD...JAAAAAAAAAAAA....if you do a search on MSN for "fx extension" you get OUR extension as number ONE..:D::DD beat that..
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q...sion&FORM=QBRE
So that was what the page was reflecting, since it was under the head line MSN...:)

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
It would be nice if you guys could add options to change to colors used in the syntax highlighting. (Comments in c++ should be green, not grey!)
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Code:
//Never mind
/* I just found the perfect VBF extension preference editor,
it's called UltraEdit (www.ultraedit.com) :p
Just open the .jar file and edit the files in it :) */
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
someone should submit this extension to mozdev.org or addons.mozilla.org

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
I was just looking for this thread now..thanks for bringing it up..:) I agree...but I think we need to clean it up a bit first..and maybe have a web page up for it...witch brings me back to why I was looking for this thread. I used a couple of hours to make a silly small web page for it..don't think we need to much fancy stuff, but well then again, I am just saying that since I can't design at all...I came up with this...
http://www.noteme.com/extension/index.php
can someone take a look at it...maye change it a bit, and make it look good, and we can make it go life. We are after all number ONE on MSN search if you search for fx extension, so I guess we need a site noe..:)
The files are here if anyone care to do some chanes...and we need a disclaimer too...remember I wrote some of the code so we REALLY do..:D

Care to elaborate on that one?
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Rather than just VBForums. Seeing as it works with a lot of forum software anyway.
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Just change the name you mean?
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Yeah... "vBulletin Firefox Extension" ?
Although, the smileys would have to be moved seeing as they are hosted here.
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Yeah...I can host the smilies..I was thinking about doing that change for next upgrade of the extension...
Isn't that the current name BTW? Look at the image
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
... I didnt look at the image
:p
-
Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
To be honest...I don't think you have seen any other name any other place on that page either..:)
BTW...if you are going to fix that small thing...can you take care of these two too then...just checked the CSS..:D
I used a clear div in stead..:D

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
Your Install button doesn't work :)

Re: VBForums Firefox Extension
I know...it is no link...it is because the site is not up and running..the old site is at http://noteme.com/vb_extension/download.htm
