cheers matt,
We've been married twice already, but both ceremonies were not deemed lawful in the eyes of the English system (one was a shinto wedding in Tokyo, the other a humanist wedding in Belfast)
So we got to do the legal thing and get a 3rd ceremony...
...with no honeymoon ((boooo))
...but we are on holiday tomorrow ((yaaaayyyy))
The only moon we're going to see is the one I pull after 10 pints of Guinness after the ceremony :DQuote:

Gaff . . . interestingly alternative
Don't quite get how it works though. Mr & Mrs Yamamoto from Tokyo arrive in the UK . . . . and become citizens. They were married in a Shinto creemony in Japan, but are still legally regarded as being married, even though they haven't had a formal marriage type thing in the UK.
On the other hand you have been through two ceremonies (in two countries) and are still not regarded as Mr & Mrs Gaff in the eyes of the law. Is it something to do with you already being a UK citizen? How about your good lady working in the UK, it must be more difficult?
Tell me to F-off if U think I am being too nosey . . . .

AGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Well, she's a UK citizen anyway - she was born and brought up in England, and speaks with an English accent. Her parents moved over here in 1970, left in 76, and she returned from Japan in 83 to go to school over here.
The British legal system does not recognise a Jap wedding as a legally binding wedding (becasue I am not Japanese).
We looked into getting a Christian weddign in Belfast, mostly due to the fact that it would be easier to have a ceremony AND a registrar in the same place. But what with my parent's vicar refusign to marry us, and my not believing in God, we reckoned it would be false.
so we had a Humanist wedding, which was fantistic.
Unfortunately, the British law does not allow a registrar to attend a humanist wedding (though that law is chaning soon)
I think that bureaucrats have to make things complicated, in order to keep them in work...
I got a pic of the Jap one here... :)
I'm sure you only post those japaneese picutres because it makes you look tall :p ;)
is it france you are off to this weekend ?
Gaff it looks enourmously restrained . . . . Is that your good lady alongside you? If so that headgear must been a real PITA.
oooo, but you're a cheeky **** Ian :D You're in so much trouble when Eiks here's about this :D:cool:
Not France, Italy. Leaving tomorrow for 9 days in Napoli
You off anywhere?
It was very formal, but that's pretty much stabdard. I was also quite nervous because not many westeners get married in Japan.Quote:

Was a beuatiful ceremony though; kicks western ceremonies right under the knackers :D
As for your pun: Shish!;)
common Al, when do I ever turn down an opportunity like that  :D
As for me, I'm trying to arrange to go up north and see a mate who I haven't seen for ages :) if that doesn't pan out, then it will just be a case of lounging around doing sweet fa :)
You dropping in to see gary and that lot in Mancland?
nahh, one of my mates who I've know for fecking ages who is currently at Leeds Uni, it's his last year and I think he needs a little bit of fun as he is soo bogged down with work at the moment. :)
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Gaffer. I think its lovely that you'll get to celebrate your commitments to each other again :)
Note to self: must kick Chris's butt again to set a date for our wedding.
Onpaper, it's lovely,. in practice, it's a right royal pain in the arse.
Becasue she looks Japanese (even though she's English), I got the third degree by the registrar ****wit, because she thought I was shipping in a mail order bride!!!!! ****ing cheek :(
I mean, she's got a plum English accent! Does everyone born in the UK who doesn't look white get accussed of being an immigrant? I don't think so
Gaffer, the man of umpteen nuptials
Just Bonking in on you lot :p It's actually quite nice in Bradford Today.
Damn, today was goign to be my "bureaucrat amnesty" day.
Broke it already
Thanks for your congratulations, S :)
usual fooked up English snotty noses :(
Hell, I don't even get classed as Human ;)
Yeah, agreed - and I think it's a real shame that the Japenese wedding is not legally binding in this country....Quote:

....but the cups either half full or half empty, or in the case of my teacup - completely empty (hmmm.. must fix that).
So in summary
1) I think it's great you're having a third wedding.
2) Send us some cake :p
So are you engaged yet?
Bonker: how long are you up there for?
Ian: Did you pick up your panties off the floor?
Been engaged for 3 years... lived in sin  for 4 years.... He's always referred to as my husband. :)
The project is probably moving to Altringham, sort of left a bit.Quote:

If only I knew how long for :(
What about City? You goign back down at the weekends? It sounds awful mate - I rememebr having to do similar (but not as bad) when I was a sales rep :(
I'll cheer you up
*puff...
*passes BG joint :)
*takes huge drag*
:D
Yeah, it's a pain in the ass when it takes over 4 hours to get back. Yeah, I'll leave about 3pm tomorrow hopefully, I dare to think what the traffic will be like. I've got a pool match in the evening, so a few joints are mandatory!
City home against Reading on Saturday than away at Brighton Monday, will settle for 2 or 3 points.
I got a pool thing going on every Thues or Wed with a mate of mine. We start at 7pm, finish at 11pm, and play, drink, and smoke dope solidly for 4 hours.
next step of finding an equally liberal American Pool hall is proving difficult.. :(
I want MASSIVE pots,and screw backs :D
Good morning all.....congrats to Gaffer, poor baby to Ian, what a shame to Bonker and hello to SJR!
Sounds like the life
I play pool for the "Crack Heads" in a league on Mondays and cups games are on Thursdays (when I'm home that is). We have to sneak out for a smoke :p
American Pool is the business, play that on Sundays.
Good morning!
It's a bit quiet here today :) we need livening up!
If I get properly awakened anytime soon I'll try to liven things up...only 7:35 here and not enough coffee yet.
I don't even know what 7:35am looks like
It's 3:45pm here - and I'm just getting into the day :D - shame I finish work in just over an hour :D ;)
I'm waking up a little........I'm happy for you that it's almost over for you!
I'm getting my hair cut in an hour - hoping to lop about 2 foot off  (bit of an exaggeration - about a foot)
yay - first girlie conversation of the day :)
Hope its as glorious a day over there as here (d'oh California - it will be!)
My husband hates short hair on me but sometimes it's a pain and I cut if off shoulder length anyway!!!!!
It is absolutely gorgeous here today! I hope it holds up for the weekend!
pffff, us blokes can do girlie Talk as we are well versed in needlework  :p ;)
Well, in that part of the world you're pretty much guaranteed (sp?) great weather ... here, well this is freak weather - not a cloud in the sky - but it's Good Friday coming up, so a lot of people will be off work Friday-Monday, therefore you can bet your life it will be cold/rainy/foggy/icey <- any combination of :(
And if it does stay nice, it's pointless going anywhere 'coz it Easter holidays - kiddies off school (everywhere v. busy + full of kids).
I can moan pretty much about anything
Should count my blessings an' all that
1, 2, 4, NO! 3, 4 .......
The weather has been really weird here for the last three weeks. It's great during the week and on the weekend it turns crappy! I've planned to go skydiving the last three weekends and have been cancelled because of winds. This weekend looks pretty good though! Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!
