Just wanted to be the last one to post to this thread, as I am VERY bored. We are doing html is my class, and from what my teacher said, I probably know more html then him...
I got to thinking about the again.
Here are some ideas I came up with:
We should have 5 staticital points (don't complain about spelling):
Intellagence - determains what spells can be learned
Strength - determains how much damage is done (non-spell), attack speed (non-spell), and how much armor wait slows you down
Dexterity - determains acculacy (non-spell), damage (ranged), and defence (shield)
Energy - determains amount of mana, and amount of staimaima
Verility - determains stainamin, and life
We should give them one stat point at a time more often, instead of giving them a bunch of points at once.
I will post more later, but I need to do some other stuff now.
Next:
We should have some weapons which entice fear in some groups of monsters (such as sting intices fear in orcs in The Lord of Rings).
We should have both generic and spacific monster groups. Generic group examples might include demons, animals, ect. Specific groups could include orcs, imps, bear, wolf, ect. This would give us great flexablity in disgining weapons. Such as a weapon might deal a 50% increase in damage to demons, and a 50% increase to damage agasinst wolves. In this way, we could also do one type of monster (grizily bears, and not black bears). This setup would require each monster to have 3 classes. A dire wolf would be an animal, a wolf, and a dire wolf.
If we go with the above system, we could also include weapons (or other items) which have warnings. Such as if a orc comes within X distance, it lets the player know. (some box pops up, or a message is sent, ect)
If I find out you guys like these ideas, I will probably start working on disgining weapons.
When I said weapons in the last post, many of the properties could also apply to items.

Also, Flame, when you update the webpage, add on new pages for items. I have come up with many, and we should place the information on the site as soon as possible.
All, I currently have ideas for 19 unquie items, 3 sets (simlar to D2 sets), and about 100 normal items (I haven't counted them yet). Not all the unquie items have properties yet. None of the sets, or normal items have any properties (damage, speed, etc.)
Some of the items are from Lord of the Rings.
One of the best items I have come up with so far, it would need to be limited to one/server:
The One Ring – Ring
> -15 Vitality
> Invisibility
> -50 Stamina
> -10% Run/Walk Speed
Some examples of unquie item names:

Some of the names are true items (such as Lorica, which is latin). Others are from Lord of the Rings (such as Gandalf’s Staff), and a few others are purely made up (such as Demon Bind). None of the items were copied from Diablo 2, although some of the properites were (such as -10% Run/Walk Speed).

YEAH!!!! I finally finished updating the site!!!! Well its updated on my comp ne ways...it will be updated on the server in about 10 mins...
I think we should use black for the logo background (when needed), then vary the forground colors (either shades of red, or shades of red/gray/yellow). I think that red/gray/yellow shades would look good.
I have made much more progress with the items. There are now 38 unquie items, most have properties, a few are super (as in one/server; very high quility).
I have about 10-20 more that need properties. I will post the file when I am done.

So far, I like stickman373's #2 logo the most. I like the style of his #1, but I think it is too dark. When we get more examples, we should vote upon them (using the webpage polls).

The final count of base items is: 16 types, 117 items. And my guess was fairly good...
You you find that a unquie item doesn't have a type listed under this file, it is because I changed the name slightly. Such as military dagger to military knife.

I will also begin working on setting up damage and etc on the normal items. I need to know, though, wheither or not we will do something like duribility in Diablo 2. That is, items take damage over time, and must be repaired before they break, or they lose damage and duribility.

Yes, we do need to get started on the programming. My guess is that he used the belevel and emboss functions, using belevel. (its a layer option). Along with possibly texture overlay.
As for getting free filters, download LimeWire (its simlar to morphus, and napster was).
As I said, I will create a logo of my own, but it will have to wait until about 3:30 PM PDT (22:30 GMT), as the school only has Photoshop installed in one lab, I don't have a class in that lab anymore, and the lab always has a class in it during my lunch.
By the way, the list is short. Diablo 2 had 1 more item class, and about the same number of regular items when it came out (not including the expansion). It also had about 117 (that is 67 more then I came up with) unquie items (the count is from the number of items that I came up with). Not to mention the sets, and the possiblity of magical and rares (which we will have to include to make the game funner).
If anyone can think of more items, let me know, and I will insert it into the list.

As for the logos looking like another game's logo, there are so many games out that we woun't be able to help making it look like another game's logo.
