I do this on the streets... perhaps your oncoming traffice avoiding skills just need a little work ;)Quote:

Congrats.
Ive become a little bit stuck, to many chase missions. Now if GTA 4 had the big open deserts, my driving skill would be better and i wouldn't be stuck!
Some of the chase missions can be tough. There was one mission where I had to chase 2 cars filled with guys with mac10s and they would just shoot the crap out of me... I probably could have beaten the mission if I tried it a few more times, but it was getting frustrating.
Here is a hint that helps for some of them. I hung out with Packie until he was above 80% in my stats and he gives me the special ability to get a car bomb from him. Then, for the chase missions where you have access to go near the car you will be chasing before the mission starts (not sure how many are like this, but the one where u chase 2 cars is). You plant a bomb on the car (or one of the cars you will chase) and then when the actual chase starts, you just use your cell phone and BOOM. It worked like a charm the 1 or 2 times I used it. Also the more you play a given chase mission, the more you learn the pattern of where to drive.
i know we haven't mentioned it in a while in this thread, but here's a youtube link to a playing of it.Quote:

Two scenes of note:
1. Severed head has gas poured on it, and ignited. Then it is kicked into bystanders, setting them on fire.
2. You are on fire yourself. You put yourself out by peeing straight up in the air. the "yellow rain" extinguishes the fire.
Can't imagine why this game is getting it's own movie...
Sounds like the annual R&D Christmas party.
I actually have a full version of this game burried away somewhere in a stack of CDsQuote:

It doesn't look that old. I was expecting DOOM graphics or something, also looks like it has a decent size map.
Don't start about digging out old games, i will have to go and get Dungeon Keeper!!!!
i've been meaning to play icewind dale 2. got it from the library recently.Quote:

I just hope that Saints Row 2 will expand better off.
Saints Row sucks. :afrog: Seriously though... GTA IV (imho) is way better than Saints Row. I suppose it's "obvious", as the latter was released prior to GTA, but still.
the current rumors for the xbox 360 downloadable content include possibly an entire add on city instead of just missions for liberty city...
probably a BIG rumor though.
News for all the 360 GTA IV gamers and fans (You can tell what the news is if you read the URL.):

Not to worry, if it is in the traditional vein of MS's downloadable content it will cost 1200 MS points and will amount to nothing more than 35 seconds of additional game play. Perhaps you'll also get a snazzy new T-Shirt to wear when you're driving around the same block you've driven around 800 times before.
XBox DLC is almost universally worthless. I cite Mass Effect and Oblivion on this matter, two of the most hyped (the former) and actually terrific (the latter) games of the last 5 years.
Mass Effect's sole DLC to date was an exact duplicate of any of the missions in the standard game. Oblivion's DLC consisted of a few extra houses (all of which are superfluous because they were released so long after the original game that all the existing players were super-rich because of the Count of Skingrad generosity bug.
I'll only bother with DLC again if it is as good as Oblivion's "Shivering Isles" expansion pack. That is what a DLC should be - 30 hours of gameplay with a good storyline, loads of new weapons, features and monsters.
Glad someone is optimistic about the DLC. :)
i got about 5 hours of play out of shivering isles. If you go the rogue route, you can (through magic) have a camouflage rating of over 100%. I can go up to anyone in the game (including gate guardian) and backstab them over and over without losing stealth. I killed the final boss without him ever even seeing me to hit back. I was an Argonian and my ac is something like 30.Quote:

it's probably related in some way to sharing of technology. Remember how in the times of yore it was illegal for the US to export pac-man? They were afraid someone would reverse-engineer something.
They're worried that you, as a South African "hiding in the UK", will get influenced by the DLC and murder them. And I say, "Well exactly, let the whole of SA have the DLC earlier than the rest of the country." :afrog:Quote:

That was random.
The multiplayer mode pissed me off alot this evening. I was joining a ranked deathmatch game, but i just couldnt see the fun in it...it was all just about trying to spot the weapons on that small radar, and get them before someone shoots you, because the pistol is useless. When you FINALLY get a decent gun, and if youre lucky, some armor...you end up being blown to pieces by some squeeky voiced teenager with an RPG...take all this and repeat over and over again, add loading times between the respawns and you have a truly crappy game. I hate GTA4 more and more now.
Edit: Oh I forgot; add people joining the game with what seems to be internet connections from the mid 90's, causing them to warp around like crazy, but they still manage to shoot you in a mysterious way.
but you have to admit, you had fun slaughtering my buddy repeatedly.
Yeah, that wasn't me playing... if it had been, you would have killed me even more...
haha, well.. I do find it rather pointless to run around killing eachother in Party mode, but I sure had fun chasing him (i thought it was you!) in the chopper.
You have to pay for XBL?!?!?!?! Ahhahahahahahahahahaahahah    :lol:Quote:

That's what I realised. I had a silver subscription when I got my 360, allowing me to go online, but I can't do anything useful with it. Perhaps get a demo here & there, but for anything else (playing games online), I need a gold subscription and have to pay for the privellage!! I had no idea on that and was really peeved after getting GTA and finding that.
On top of that, the gold subscription is ONLY for online play. Any games I want to download including really old ones that I can get as freeware on the PC, I have to buy using MS points (which it looks like a boxed game in the store). Using the Xbox 360 online to it's full potential requires you to get a new mortgage or loan to that effect!
Come on now. Just because the 360 sucks in the online area, doesn't mean you need to rub it in.Quote:

Way to try to turn this thread into a xbox360 vs ps3 thread, it is both mature and intelligent. :thumb:
Thanks for the compliment :afrog:
Anyone with GTA4 for the PS3 hit me up - PSN: muppetalert ;)
i played the pc version actually. I prefer the pc versions because i get to install patches withoiut them filling the entire micro-drive it came with up.Quote:

You're all "cads and bounders". I dont know what it means, but thats what you are.
I would, but I don't have a XBox with a Live subscription and/or you don't have a PS3 with GTA4 on it.Quote:

Ohh dear, I can see this thread starting to turn out like this old one: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=33371 (don't click the 1st link on that page)...
I don't see reference to any scouters in that thread.
Well there were pistols and RPG's in amongst the limb or animal based weaponary there...
I've got 5 hours left to complete the final mission. This time around I made all the choices I didn't make last time.
Any change??
we hope so since it was more than 5 hours
Wossy??
