Re: artificial intelligence
I believe "how to destroy a company that annoyed you" was written by the AAI. (Until proof is given, we'll just refer to "yotamarker" as artificial artificial intelligence :)). It goes something along the lines of "provide their services for free".
I deleted the book off my computer almost immediately after reading the VB.NET section (which claims that Dictionaries are all-powerful and much faster than arrays, and contains a small explanation of ByRef and that's about it) so I don't have a link (it used to be in moti barski's signature but it's gone now). Sorry.

minitech you are talking about the 1st edition, this is the 3rd edition, it is much more powerfull

Re: artificial intelligence
I will name the next one on the stack each time you ask me this because I don't want to put them all in one post...
1. Dictionaries are not faster than arrays.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
when you pmed me you compared dictionary to list
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Did I? In that case, Dictionaries are not faster than Lists, either.

Okay. Next problem:

Wait, this book is a joke right? I'm sorry but I can't take this serious...

Re: artificial intelligence
(Huh. It's strangely addicting to list all the problems in this book.)
Okay, next problem. In the part about HTML, you specify XHTML as a doctype but use completely nonstandard HTML. Your <header> should instead be <head>. You don't mention CSS. The attribute and tag methods of styling are obsolete and deprecated.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
minitech is quating the first book
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Nope, it's still in the 3rd edition.
And that part about Window Server 2003 is actually a copy-paste from some blog.
That's what they call plagiarism.
I stopped reading after the VB part..
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Most of it is copied from blogs and other places.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
I haven't got round to reading it myself, but Flya, my brilliant young assistant, is highly impressed by Battle Programming. She interprets it as a kind of abstract poetry. And yes, it's a she: with that slender waist, diaphanous wings and hundreds of lovely eyes, she is quite a hit at the office garbage can. She likes the idea of AI as potential girlfriend material, and wonders (though she is too shy to ask herself) whether she is also gay.

What do you call that again? There's a word describing that kind of... I forget.

Re: artificial intelligence
One more thing. Del isn't a universal way of entering BIOS. It is the most common but I've seen laptops that used F11, F10 and many other ways.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
I sincerely hope they don't do that. C'mon admins, fess up. Have any of you actually taken the Turing test, let alone passed it? BB

Re: artificial intelligence
I'm in a buttload of work but I just downloaded the book. I'm going to read all of it. On first glance, why does a supposed programming book include 5 pictures of maps of Japan?!
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Because part of the book is about Japanese addresses and prefectures, apparently.
I get the feeling that the OP has no idea what any of the pictures (excluding the maps) even mean...
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Oh... My... God!!! Are you guys reading this?? This is the funniest thing ever written. Literally every line of text is PURE GOLD!
I'm just at page 3 and already I want to talk to people about the book. I would actually join a book club for a chance to discuss it. I want to go to a public place or a comedy bar on open mic night and read the book aloud.
Here's a few tips from the book on fixing computers:
Quote:
1 if pc doesn't turn on replace power supply(connected to the power cord)
3 pc stuck at windows load : replace power supply
5 pc crashes during work time: try to replace hard disk: box connected to motherboard by wires
3 computer over beeps at summer: take out cpu cooler walls under fan in middle of motherboard, smear thermic cream(cost up to 2$) on cpu, return parts
if the problem isn't number 2, first try removing card, blowing air on it and in its slut, or at second time also use an eraser on its contacts before returning it
OMG! I love blowing into sluts!
This book is pure genius in every aspect, content, format, style. Can I PLEASE send this to a publisher?

Re: artificial intelligence
I'd have to say that this thread has decidedly improved. That ORON download site is annoying, though.
-
Re: artificial intelligence
Yes, it certainly is... even MegaUpload is better.
Well, maybe not in the ads category.

Re: artificial intelligence
if there are errors or stuff you think should be added to the ebook tell me
i hope it will finish book publishers, universities, tech classes, and others

I hate to dash your hopes, but...

Okay, the problems with your AAI aside for now, your e-book, according to probably most people here, is an error. And book publishers publish a bit more than you have in your book there.

naah, it is confirmed that they don't. text wize yes theire books are longer,
knowledge wize this book is much more comprehensive (has more data) if you comper subject to subject.
moreover this book is much simpler to understand
-
Re: artificial intelligence
You are kidding now, right? Your book is incredibly difficult to understand, from the grammar to the spelling to the facts to the capitalization to every little detail about it. It is not comprehensive (yes, we do know what "comprehensive" means, thank you). The code is sometimes wrong, but most of it is copied from other places. Knowledge-wise, pain-wise, whatever... you would be much better off with a book...
I don't know where you heard that it is confirmed that books don't contain information (yotamarker maybe?) but that's incorrect.

This thread has high comedy value (it seems the sarcasm is too subtle for some) may it roll on.

Re: artificial intelligence
The OP's delusion runs so deep. I honestly can't understand why reality won't take hold.
This reminds me of a guy I used to work with. It's so much worse in person.
He said he had a doctorate in philosophy from some university in some 3rd world country that I can't remember. But me and some other coworkers looked it up several times, but couldn't find the university online. He said he completed it in 7 years... online and some how managed to go straight from no degree to a doctorate, skipping an undergraduate and graduate degrees.
He also said he was the 9th highest rate master in karate, in the world, despite being over 400 pounds. We'd always see him doing crazy karate moves in the hallway. He was also a priest, despite never obtaining a degree in theology or even going to church!
There was so many crazy things that he said and did that he, apparently, made himself believe. Which is why he reminds me of the OP.
