Ive been programming since at least third grade. I wrote a program that tested for primality (in third grade), and a program that automatically generated multiplication tests for my teacher (again, third grade) and an answer key, and printed them out.
I'm 14 now, and am currently working on a kind of simulated evolution thing.
I'm 16. I know VB/VB.net, C#, C/C++, Java/VB script, asp, php, html.
Sometimes I get pay check, but it rarely happens.
im 14
i got started when i was 12 with VBA at school when some kid said "hey press alt+f11 its cool" and then i bought a book and blah blah blah
anyway now i program VB6, VB.NET, C++, PHP, and script HTML
fun times.
ok I started QBasic at 8, anyone beats me?:D
I'm 18?
Hi im 19, i started programming 4 years ago in VBA. Then I started VB on my own, just using some samples and MSDN. Now I've learned at school lots of languages: JAVA, C++, ASP, VB.NET, VB, RPG
normally i do not get payd for my programs, because i make them for my own use and for my friends. I made a webpage (ASP, online shop) for school that I've sold to a companny, that was the only time i've got payd vor my programming.
I've made some programs that are used in some companies, but one of my best friends is the administrator there, so i didn't charge him anything. He programmed some software for me to for free
That is something I hate about shcool here in Greece... The only programming class they ever gave me was optional in grade 12! It is their own language, a combination between QBasic and Pascal... :(
Hey Guys,
Im 17 and making a program for my school and other surrounding districts. I know the following languages:
(1)Visual Basic
(2)Batch
(3)Q-Basic
(4)HTML(And is also crap)
i'm ten
Im 15 and programme for the fun of it.
I know the pure pure basics and just learn from other people as i need the stuff.

Hi im 12 and started proggraming with visual basic 6 and then moved on to the .net languages(vb.net and currently learning c++). I also know how the create batch files, qbasic files and simple webpages.
p.s. sorry about my english
Good grief, I though we'd seen the back onf this 5 year old thread! :)
I'm really jealous of all these people that got into programming early. When I was 14 it never occurred to me that the average joe could write their own software, it was never advertised anywhere. The only reason I got into it at all was because at my first job, they had a copy of VB4 and I just opened it to see what it was. Anyway an 2 hours later I'd finished a calculator program. I was hooked from then on.
Now I've got VB4, VB6, Qbasic, PocketC (sweet!), C++ (a bit) and C# (a lot :)) under my belt. HTML is for wimps.
Wossname, mild mannered Government operative by day, freelance coder by lunchtime. :(

LOL.... Just think if it had been a copy of Penthouse... you may be studding it right now. :)
Just imagine if it was a copy of my little pony adventures he could be another way inclined!!!
Hehehe so most people posting at the begining of this post are now in ther early-mid twenties...I'd like to see what they are doing now, but Im guessing a lot of them are not active members anymore....
Haha. I was 12 when this post was started.. Wow.. But I am now 15, and getting into learning VB soo, I will report back here in a year or so :bigyello:
What makes you think I'm not?Quote:

im just started, as in tats y i signed up for the forum, learning VBA, I dun even know VB... im screwed, lol
payce
I will be 21 in a a few days... I started when I was 6 with a Commodore 64.... well that was mostly just copying from a book with Basic examples that I had, but it was a start....
I had that example with the sprite (baloon with C sign on it) flying around :) anyone seen that? Eventually I learned to make my own sprites (a simple matrix of pixels) and change the color and number of sprites on screen, speed etc..... well, it was fun then...
Now I mostly work with VB.....Delphi, C++ and other on the side....but I dont have as much expirience with them as with VB....
I do make some money on the side programming... when I have time I can make about 2000$ a month..... when I have time..... other time I spend studying (college - Telecommunications).... and of course, the rest of the time I spend spending (drinking) the money I made with my freinds :)
i am 21 right now, i started with Delphi at 20.
I am a 17teen year old programer, i started by making macros in Microsoft Word then got a free version of VB5 and then went on to buy the full version of VB6
(I have started making macros when i was 14teen) ;)
well aren't we just badass :lol:Quote:

omer...
i'm 17 and i just got started with visual basic about 3 weeks ago. i've caught on pretty well i have 2 mail bombers and 2 trainers (for different games) under my belt
My first coding language was TI-83+ Basic. It is a code for the texas instruments calculator. I started learning it about 5 years ago, and since then I have mastered that (not much to speak of..) also I have mastered TI-92 Basic(another calculator code. more structured). I know QBasic to a certain degree. So far, I have not seen any money from any programs I've made. This may change as my skills in visual basic improves
I dont consider HTML a coding language, or that would've been my first, since I began learning that at the bright young age of 10. My first website can be found at http://home.comcast.net/~Deranged40 I keep it to look back and reflect on how much I've improved. My current website is in my siggy.
I'm currently 16, from singapore. The language i'm best at is Visual Basic. I have my own small software team of 3 people (including me) and our website is @ www.unignal.sg.tf
The server is under maintance though, and i don't know when they will fix it.
When i'm 18, i'll have to sign up for national service for 2 years. Its actually something like conscription. Because singapore is a small country, we need every man to defend ourselves. Personally, i'm not so much against it although i sucks alot at physical fitness.
The main thing i worry about is whether i'll still retain my VB skills when i finally completed my national service at the age of 20. I really hope i could still do programming then, or my 5 years of programming skills and experience will be in vain.
Sigh... I really hope that everything turns out well...
For ****'s sake get this bloody thread deleted NOW!
Its so ****ing boring. Older than the ****ing moon.

When I got into the military, I bought my self a laptop. Then I could maintain my skills when I was in. You should do the same. There will always be enough time. Maybe not the first months. but trust me, there is also a lot of waithink in the army.
One advice tho'. If everyone have to go to military in Singapore, then I guess that some have to go to the marin, some to the army and some have to be chafs and so on. If you like the physical training, then you should join the army. Try to get into any of the special platoons, like Rec troops and so on. Then you will have the best time of your life. I trained 7-10 times a week, and had never been in bether shape. And have soooo many good memories. And I thought a **** load about my self and my body...
I suck at physical stuff. Thats the problem. Also, i don't think that such items will be allowed in the first few months. for the first few months, we have no freedom at all, other than to train and train and train. Also, you are unable to go home or have any free time at all. Then after the basic training, we get to go home every weekend, but if someone did smth wrong, then he will be in patrol duty for the whole weekend.
Also, i won't have time to maintain my team and we will be disbanded for 2 years. Not a very nice thought.
That's what i heard from some friends.
I'm 22....
When I was around 16 I learned C/C++ then HTML
later I learned CSS Stylesheets (for the HTML), php, and then ASP (the stupid hosting service for PHP died so I needed a new place... only could find an asp host)
In college I got to take C/C++ again even though I already knew it... that was an easy A (two A's actually.. they had intro to C then intro to C++). COBOL, IBM Mainframe programming (assembler, jcl, etc), and various other things that I feel I will almost never use.
Now I program COBOL as an Intern. I can also do VB.NET (not too great), ASP.NET, SQL Server 2000, etc. This next and final semester of college i'm taking a class on JAVA and some kind of database design.
There's my life story... and wow btw... a 3 year old forum thread..... thats a record...
Hey, I'm only 16, and I program in mostly VB.
I know HTML & PHP
I know tidbits of C++ and Java...
I do make money programming, I actually have a real programming job working for a pharmicutical company writing software for them that converts fixedlength text files into MDBs... then you can write reports from the MDBs... I've made roughly $3,000 dollars in the last 2 months... :)
I've been programming since I was like 9... Vb for about 5 yrs now.
I've made games, apps, and many things...
if you ever wanna ask me about any of those things, just send me an emaill:

I suppose I should go ahead and stick in my two cents seeing how I WAS a teen when I first signed up with VBForums...
16 to be exact and am now 22
My grandfather was a professor at the university of texas and he did PC programming with QB-45 he is who inspired me to take it serious however my first encouters with programming was with the Commador Vic-20 OS which was nothing more than a really dumbed down version of BASIC...
I later got into VB3-4 & 5 during my days of writing AOL 3.0 proggies and punters, after that I started making real progs in vb 6 and selling them to companies that need data-access software to keep up with all thier stuff better... I am know a freelancer that makes a pretty decent living developing C# ASP sites for local companies and the surrounding regions...
Hello.
I'm another typical teenager on this forum. I want to show off the fact that I started programming and working with legacy computers at a very early age, but somehow, I just don't get the fact that it's about the most common thing on this forum, and nobody gives a flying ****. Or a rat's ass. Or a flying ****ing rat's ass.
However, I was born with a Macintosh embedded in my liver, that's where I started programming. I know about 382 different programming langauges, each older than the one before!
Check me out, I'm a teenager who has no control over my hormones, so I think I'll just go and try to impress the other members here.
I am ub3r-1337!
:afrog:
Damn! 382? grrr.. once again you've beaten me frog.....
p.s. I programmed a basketball game on a ti-73 when i was 10 ..

I'm 16 now, started programming when I was 14 I think :D
I know HTML, Javascript, C, & VB. Planning on learning Java soon.
I havent made any money programming yet, altho I got a gmail invite for making a program once.
Anyone have any get-rich-quick ideas?? :D :D

I'm 17 and I started a year and 3 months ago with VB6 and now I'm at the head of my advanced programming class using VB.NET.
SO, in other Words I know VB and html.
I'm not currently employed but I'm always looking for a programming job in the Northren Virginia Area. Even a internship would be nice so I could at least be around a programming enviroment.
You're gay unless you know pascal.
I am 16, started programming at 12 using qbasic. Made an animated 2d game in it at 14. Then went to vb made a 3d game when 15. Currently started on an opensource game engine. U can visit the site which is brand new at www.sourceforge.net/projects/boulder or boulder.sourceforge.net . I have not made the second site, cause i registered yesterday. I know vb, c++, html, java, qbasic ;) .
14, started at 13, currently working on a p2p file transferrer,
know Vb and ... damn! only Vb :D
I am 13 yr old. I started when i was 12. I know VB,HTML,VBS,PHP,ASP and i might know some other language not used much. I started playing around with computers when i was 12 and now i am like total computer bof.
I started programming when I was 21 and now I am 12 and I know WINK, WOD, WAD, WHIP, WILL, BILL, SWILL, SPLEEN, GREEN, BERG.NET, K++, KPAX, SAX, SWISS, SANDPAPER.NET, SPLATTER and RTFM. I am such a bof and i fear that my head might explode very soon
Hey all, I'm 22. programmer since 16.
Started out in QBASIC, moved up to PASCAL, did some light C and went to Java. Worked for a large company as an account reconciliator straight out of high school (I had been working there after schools since I was 16). Our department had a small division that built apps for us. I told them I had done some programming and would like to make it a full time position. They gave me some projects (mostly Access 97/VBA for the apps and VB6 Text File scraping for useful information) and I joined them full time.
I eventually grew out of the position. .Net 02 had just come out a year or so prior and they had no desire to do anything with it. So I struggled with them awhile, and found a new job just this last Feb. I'm the companies only dba, winform/webform developer and solutions architect. Since Feb., I've learned SQL's DBMS (+data architecture and transact), IIS and VB.Net.
Right now, I'm working on getting my certifications and learn some mobile development.
