I think you unlock the ability to use helicpoters whenever by making Brucie like you alot.
I have started to see a few weird glitches in terms of AI in the game.
For example, one time I got on a motorcycle that was parked and as I started to drive away, there was a guy standing in the middle of 2 cars on the road with a motorcycle helmet on, almost like I had taken this bike from him, but I had not... very weird..
Also sometimes when I start my game, and come out of the safehouse there will be some traffic, and one car will have 2 dead people in it for no good reason.. just dead...
The third weird thing I saw, was I was driving near times square (or whatever they call it in the game) and there was a blown up helicopter just sitting in the road.. not sure where it came from, perhaps the AI actually had a midair collision with another helicopter... It was totally charred and had a dead pilot in it though.. very strange..
Cool, so just to the very bottom of the island and i should just find one...will i get the old 4 stars???
no you shouldnt get any stars, although if you fly to the 3rd island you will get 6 because its not unlocked yet... although doing exactly that was how I unlocked the 6 stars for 5 minutes achievement, so you may want to...
Sounds like a plan :)
We should have a fly rat race, first to kill all the flying rats wins a prize...not sure what the prize is yet tho. GO, and no cheating!!!
right.. like people wouldn't cheat if there was a prize involved...
Ar but i didnt tell you what the prize was, its a dead pigeon!
we could possibly do some sort of contest for things you can't cheat on.. like longest wheelie and some of the other more obscure stats.. even the free fall one, there may be a limit on how high the helicopter goes, but that just means you need to find the lowest possible point on the map to fall onto...
Well yer, but i thought when you said cheating you meant that people would just tell us a really big score without actually getting it?!?! But im up for a little comp. Most police stars just using your fists, and no going into unlocked areas???
you wouldn't get more than 3 I don't think using fists....
You need to kill cops to get huge wanted levels, and at 2 stars they start shooting... so you won't really last very long.
now if you want to say most stars without guns/nades, then that would mean cars can be used as weapons and it would be possible to get more than 3 stars.
As far as proof of any mini contest we did run, digital photo confirmation would need to be provided, and it better damn well not look photochopped...
I fell through the map last night. Somewhere on the 3rd island (north end I beleive), there's a place where there's a row of garages and inbetween that and the street is 2 sets of fence (about a 2 car widths apart). The fence closest to the road is breakable, the other is not. In that area is a tree and a blue box. Driving into the blue box will cause you to fall through the ground.
I can find the Chopper!!!
you mean you CAN'T find the chopper??
Haha yes, sorry!
did you at least find where the heli tour place is? it may be that you have not completed enough missions where the helicopters actually show up there.. I am not sure on that one...
No didnt even find that, didnt look really really hard cos i was hvaing trouble with a dwayne mission, the one where u chase the bloke on the bike. No good with bikes :) Is it near the pier?
There are some really awesome easter eggs in this game if you really go out of your way to find them.
Have any of you other guys found the big one yet? :D
Nope, what is it???
I found a driving range, can you use that????
woss not sure what you mean by the big one... I know there is some secret at the statue of happiness, but i havent bothered to check it out yet.
I found a sweater of some kind at the statue of happiness, but thats not the secret is it?
Maybe he actually means giant easter eggs, that would be funny. And a giant easter bunny.
I wish there was a way to do screenshots on the XBox version. I did this unbelievable front flip in a Patriot last night. It was off the roadworks ramp on the main dragstrip in Algonquin. I haven't been able to do it since :(
Basically handbrake-slide the back end of the truck up the ramp while leaving the front wheels on the road, get it just right and you'll end up on your roof or even in a nose-stand (briefly).
yeah I have done some amazing jumps and even some amazing near misses when driving at break neck speeds.
Some sort of HDMI or Component capture card would be nice to have :)
I could say that kleinma is an extractor fan. :afrog:Quote:

I want GTA Vice City...
or through the windshield of a car if you are going fast enough and hit something hard enough.Quote:

It gets a bit crazy when you are watching yourself going 150+ in super slow motion, and then you let go of the cinematic button, and freak as you instantly are back in super fast speed
To get Niko tumbling over stuff, just run head first into cars.
I had a go at this and its pretty fun.Quote:

I was saying this to my mate last night, if they had made vice city now, for a next gen console, it would be brilliant, probably better than GTA IV.Quote:

Having said that though, those are my only gripes about it really and I am addicted/hooked on it - can't get online access just yet but awesome game all in all and worth the money! :)
- Missions restarting at the driving part is quite annoying - having to travel or grab a taxi to the actual mission each time
- The autoaim is a bit buggy - I found just squeezing R1 on the Xbox 360 pad allows manual aim, sqeezing it harder actually fires the thing - useful but I'm not good enough to do this just yet and it can't be used with the L1 trigger cover
- A lot of the missions are similar - goto place xyz and kill abc (have only played one of the old ones but a lot of people are saying Vice City had far more variety)

Matt, the statue has a beating heart in the middle of it - haven't gone there myself yet, but saw a clip on youtube I think it was before it got taken down. You need the helicopter to fly to the platform by her head and jump out onto there, then you can walk inside a door to her head. Think there were 5 peopl in the video trying to shoot it at the same time to see what effect that'd have, but it didn't do anything.
--SPOILER -----------------------------
I've not long opened the 3rd part of the map and started working for Ray myself - I wanna know when I get to have a rocket launcher (without a cheat)! :bigyello:
Online GTA4 is great if you can find the right people to play with. Which is the hard part of course.Quote:

Athiest: The annoying pidgeons mission is one of the side missions that gets you 2.5% of the game completion (completion % is under the start button - 2nd or 3rd tab there). I think if you just followed the story, you'd probably only complete 70% or something, can't remember what the figure was now.
Matt: Leads me to the 30 hours completion. Damn!!! I had no idea of this, I've been going to question mark icons and picking up the side missions so I've no chance of getting this, will have to do the game ALL again (bit like the awesome gamecube Eternal Darkness game where you had to complete it 3 times to unlock the main achievement), ohh well, will give a "speed run" style of play to that when the time comes then.
On a second note - the M16?? Nope I didn't get this after three leaf clover either, all I walked away with was an achievement unlock and a load of bullet scars!
Mojo: (thought I was the only one who watched that cartoon) the driving becomes easy once you get into it - there's a couple of really annoying chase missions, the 1st was called "Ruff Rider", the 2nd might've been the "I need your boots, clothes and motorcycle" mission where you have to give chase. After I did those I thought wow, few weeks ago I couldn't even drive round 1 corner, now I'm following at high speed without crashing. Just don't treat it like a race game, brake is needed in this one, a lot. Or at least pumping the gas then releasing rather than holding it down.
Syntaxreader: Sirens can be useful to get people to stop, just depends where you are. If you roll a cop car over a couple of times, the broken, winding down siren noise is pretty funny!
I completed the main story last night (in a leisurely 50 hours). My god the last mission is a tough one. I went for the "Revenge" option. I won't spoil it for you lot though. It's a relief to finally be free of the main story line and tie up all the loose ends. now I can finally just walk around looking at stuff instead of blasting by at 150mph. :D
One tip you guys should know if you haven't already noticed it is that if you are in a particular car then if you drive around for a while (eg 10 minutes or so) then you'll notice an unusually high number of other cars of the same model. This is very useful, actually. If you have a nice motor like the Infernus or the Turismo (my favourite), then if you take it to the parking space outside your safehouses and wait in the car for a few minutes then you'll see another one drive down your street at some point. Steal that one too. Then park the first one and drive the new one to another safe house and repeat until you've got loads of them :D
You can do this in San Andreas too.
I guess it was a trick by the developers to save RAM by only having a smaller number of models loaded at once.
Has anyone tried storing a car in Pegorino's garage yet? I remembered just now that the door automatically opens when you drive up to it. I'll try it tonight.
Yeah I have a site bookmarked at home which had all the mission completion tips and up until 1-2 weeks ago, had all the video solutions for each mission (took forever to load because of it, but worth it). Ending mission looks pretty cool! :)
Interesting tips there on the other 2 points, will have to give them a go (well the 2nd when I start working for him)
A beating heart! WHAT! Y? haha thats funny.
You need to lay off the artificial additives.
I've been thinking exactly the same thing.Quote:

I've been stalking this website since the moment Rockstar announced they were making GTA IV. A really good site.
