Ok kids, I've produced a test version that should hopefully solve the resolution business. I don't know, of course, as I never have the problem with it.
The file has been uploaded to www.gibbonbash.fsnet.co.uk as apps.exe
It's a self extracting archive. Please extract the sencore.exe and place it in your
\gamedev\apps\
folder, overwriting the old one.
It should fix the problems with resolutions - give it a whirl and let me know how you get on.
Also, this version has the new 'globe wrapping' enabled (meaning you can scroll off the left side and appear on the right - and vice versa). It has problems as it's still in development, but it's a step in the right direction... ;)
All comments gratefully received, esp. those to do with res problems. :)
PS - the whole game will run at the resolution selected in the launcher, so the menu screens might look a little screwy. I can fix those later as long as the resolution problems are solved. If you still have problems, I won't bother fixing those screens until the problems are sorted.... ;)
I've downloaded the latest version, but I woun't have much time to play with it for a few days (I'm busy working on a few D2: LOD mods).
Hokay, no problem. :)Quote:

If anyone could get back to me as soon as possible though to let me know if the sencore.exe in the apps.exe fixes the resolution problems, it would help me an awful lot....
Thanks in advance. :)
I attempted to play it and it instantly came up with a file not found runtime error, and the file it was looking for was "...\buildings\.bmp"
Yes, the file was called ".bmp", that is not some mistake.
Oh, and by the way the resolution never changed (not too surpricing with the error's location). It did bring up the splash screen.
On a positive note, the resolution was correct when the game shut down (although it was still running as a process in the background; taking up 98% of the CPU time).
Now, back to moding D2...
The only thing I can think of is that you put it in the wrong place....
It works fine for me. Well, it runs certainly. The idea is to replace the old SenCore in the apps directory with this new one.
The game can then be run from the launcher as normal...
If you still get the error, could you please take a screenshot and also a screenshot of you apps directory with view | details selected (so I can see times and dates of files).
Thanks! :)

Hi all,
as Gaming said the resolution never changes(well my PC tells me that you program wants to change the resolution but I don't notice any change). I don't get any file error and the game exits as it should(no processes remain in my list)
Arbiter : just got back from a lanparty...
All windows systems on my local network are infected with the new Yaha virus, i'm going to take my network offline for a few days until i have restored everything, after that i'd be happy to test Sentience again :D
How exactly does your PC tell you that Sentience wants to change res?Quote:

You shouldn't have anything else running in the background when Sentience is running.
Hullo again Icheb, thought you were dead!Quote:

Good to see you back, looking forward to your comments. :)
I tryed it twice so far today, once after downloading the file again.
Here is that screen shot you wanted:

Gaming,
That 'sencore' should overwrite the old one. The one that's in the GameDev folder...?
Did you do that?
I renamed the gamedev folder to Sentience. I find that Sentience is much more discriptive then gamedev. Therefore, yes.
It's my screenQuote:

Do you mean I musnt run my default programs like winamp and norton antivirus?Quote:

Hey on wich OS have you tried the game arbeiter? I and gaming both get the prblem and we both run win XP. that may be the problem!
Arthur,
What's your screen? I don't understand, sorry...
How do you know Sentience is trying to change the resolution?
Basically, the less things you have running the happier Sentience will be. Some things can cause the res to go bonkers.
My development machine is Windows XP. My test machines are Windows XP, 95 and 98. I believe Behemoth runs 2K. I've also tested it on NT but a long time ago.
Gaming,
I can only suggest you reinstall the game then. The sencore in apps.exe does work if it's put in the right place. Have you been altering any of the scripts at all? That may cause the problem you're having.....
No, I haven't modified any of the scripts, ever.
Once I get past the current problem, I now have a new chance for the game: duel monitors. About 5 or 6 hours before posting (this post) I installed a second monitor onto my computer.
I figured I should let you know that any information or new versions which you post I will not have acess to for about 10 days.
No new posts for over a month.
no one wants vb any more, they want c++/asm!
I know I am resurrecting an ancient thread, but I am interested in downloading a copy of this game. I tried the links posted, but so far they all see to be dead links. The more I read through, the more I want to see this game. It sounds very impressive.
I doubt he still has the game. If he does, it will likely be way different then how it seems here.
