Good morning (USA)/afternoon (UK), Katie. :)
Hi Katie (for the second time :D)
Everyone be nice to her...her computer's going strange
What kind of symptoms?
I think it has been taken over by aliens.....that don't want me to go on the internet at home or something.:(
I installed the stupid s/w off the disk the ISP folks gave me and followed all the instructions, clicked on connect and lo and behold the modem started making lovely modem noises......and then gave me an error that the computer I was trying to call was not answering. I called ISP help number and they had me go through various steps and none of them worked.....then they helpfully suggested I call the phone company because they may be something wrong with my phone line. I called them and had them test my line. They said I do indeed have a short circuit in my line and for a mere 85 dollars they will come out and see if they can find the source. The really bizarre thing is that once I installed the ISP s/w they gave me, Win95 has ceased to recognize my CD-Rom. I rebooted and it found it! I inserted the disk, began playing with the troubleshooting stuff and all of a sudden....no more CD. I reboot...it's there again! I think I have completely farkled up my computer and still have no internet connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, damn, damn!!!!!!!!
What provider? No cable/satellite?
Whoaaaa.....deja vu
there's a little devil living in your comp now :(
Really?? I dunno how it works there, but here the phone co (In this case BT) owns the line and the box inside your house. If there is anything wrong with their equipment, they have to come fix it for free.Quote:

furry kittens can do disasters inside your comp
If the problem is in the line from the street to the house, it's free, if it is inside your house, 85 fat American dollars.:(Quote:

You could try taking some additional phones out of the equation and connect the computer directly into the main socket...
I wish my questions got this many replies :D :D
Hehehe....maybe you're asking it in the wrong forum....welcome to Chit-Chat...come on in, the water's fine!:)
Heya! There's a door open
That's the door to Ian's closet... I lost the key and somebody opened it :(
Shut that immediately! I'm trying to hide in here!!!
That must be terrible for a camel-owner like Ian
I thought it was sheep....not camels:confused:
So you haven't come out of the closet yet? I thought that wasn't your cup of tea? :rolleyes:Quote:

You'd be amazed at what I've found in Ian's closet. It isn't the kind of closet you're thinking it is at all!! Quite shocking, a little dangerous, but exciting all at the same time! Not to be entered into lightly!
