It means that someone who often makes generalizations is cautioning another not to make generalizations, in this case. Not dissing you, just pointing out an inconsistency. I certainly meant no racial connotations. It is a very old saying! Dating back to when pots were heated in the fireplace and turned black as well as the kettles. Geesh!!!!!

and besides...its not just my religion, i have a problem with alkahol in general and the fact that its strictly forbidden in my religion, yet almost a neccessity in western society, which i find quite insulting

All I'm saying is, you have to adapt to wherever you are. If I went to a Muslim country, I probably wouldn't drink anything while I was there, because it wasn't allowed in their culture. I play by the rules of whatever society I'm in.
And also, lots of things happen which can seem insulting - don't let them get to you or you'll end it totally ****ed up.

I can't remember how old you are, but I'm only 18 and I'm totally desensitised against most things that could be described as insulting now. Whether that says something about society is open to debate but it's not a good sign...I tried to make the best of it though.
The non-religious and/or "Christians" in this country tend to overindulge on a fairly regular basis since it's not forbidden - I don't have any problem whatsoever with people not drinking on religious grounds; if I went anywhere with them then I wouldn't drink either and neither would most of the people I know since we try and be reasonable :)
