Kovan, you don't seem to understand dictionaries. You are not using the dictionary correctly. This is the only part of the dcitionary that matters in this context:Quote:

however, my defination of discrimination or sexist
is favouring one gender over another
i give up
i cant get my point across to you
i used the SAME dictionary defination (4.)
that said "biased", when the word biased is introduced, than this is far from Islam
i had enough of this
i dont think we can come to an agreement
"Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender"
That's all that matters. If this is true for Islamic law, then Islam is sexist.
If you want to argue about favourtism, that's up to you but it's completely irrelevant and you're the only one that's interested in it.
Kovan, learn to use a dictionary, please.
You're wasting my time.
if i am wasting your time
stop posting then
why do i have to use that from the dictionary
why cant i use #4 in the dictionary
You're wasting my time like a frustrating computer game that I can't stop playing. I want to get you to understand but you're making it very difficult.
You only have to have one of the dictionary definitions as true. What you keep saying about bias doesn't matter, the other definition is true.
If you want to be petty and not actually get the truth so you can feel safe and happy and pretend Islam isn't sexist then use the definition you keep coming back to, but you're only fooling yourself.
The rest of the world will look at the definition "Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender" and see that Islam is sexist by this definition.
I only have to show that one of the definitions apply to say that Islam is sexist. "Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender" applies, so Islam is sexist.
i didnt make any comments reffering to bin laden as a hero, he is a ****, some of his ideals are ok, but then some are completley nuts (like his obsession with killing every american)
i think it was abdul, im not sure
Speaking of Bin Ladin..
Suicide is a Haram as mentioned in the Quran. Yet our hero of the
islamic world , encourages mujahidins to involve in suicidal attacks on the enemies of Islam
i know, thats why i find it SOOOOO wierd when he does that
and that was a reason why i thought maybe it wasnt him, but thats a different story, lets not go there :)
This from
http://www.culturekiosque.com/minisi...islamjihad.htm
made an interesting reading.
Quote:
The literal meaning of the Arabic word Jihad is "striving," but it is commonly used to denote armed struggle for Islam against infidels and apostates. This is elaborately regulated in shari'a law. In offensive war, Jihad is a collective obligation of the Muslim community as a whole, and may be discharged by volunteers and professionals. In defensive war it is an individual obligation of every male Muslim. Usama Bin Laden specifically invokes this rule in his declaration.
In Islamic usage the term martyrdom is normally interpreted to mean death in a Jihad, and the reward is eternal bliss, described in some detail in early religious texts. Suicide on the other hand is a mortal sin and earns eternal punishment in the form of the unending repetition of the act by which the sinner committed suicide. The classical jurists distinguish clearly between facing certain death at the hands of the enemy and killing yourself by your own hand. The one leads to heaven, the other to hell. Some recent jurists and ulema have dismissed this distinction. The suicide bomber is thus taking a considerable risk on a theological nicety. :p
yeah, exactly
but in that article, it explains that jihad doesnt mean war!!
everyone keeps reffering to "a jihad" as a war, when all it is is "striving in the cause of allah"
:)
Isn't one of the many causes of Allah to kill, or otherwise bring harm to non-Muslims?
yes, BUT ONLY IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS
like war, self defence and when your faith is being attacked
From the Encarta Encyclopaedia:
Quote:
Jihad, in Islam, the spiritual struggle against evil. Jihad is the duty of all mainstream Muslims, or Sunnites. There are four ways they may fulfill a jihad: by the heart, the tongue, the hand, and the sword. These refer to the inner, spiritual battle of the heart against vice, passion, and ignorance; spreading the word of Islam with one's tongue; choosing to do good and avoiding evil with one's hand; and waging war against non-Muslims with the sword.
Islamic law divides the world into dar al-Islam (abode of Islam) and dar al-harb (abode of war—that is, of non-Muslim rule). Most modern branches of Islam stress the inner, spiritual jihad. But Islamic law also states that all nations must surrender to Islamic rule, if not its faith. Until that time, all adult, male, and able-bodied Muslims are expected to take part in hostile jihads against non-Muslim neighbors and neighboring lands. The Qur'an (Koran) states that those who die in this type of jihad automatically become martyrs of the faith and are awarded a special place in heaven.
For Muslims, there exist two kinds of non-Muslim enemies: kafir (nonbelievers in Islam) and ahl al-kitab (people of the book). Kafir, such as Buddhists and Hindus (see Buddhism; Hinduism), must either convert to Islam or face execution. Once converted to Islam it is a capital offense to renounce the faith. People of the book include Jews, Christians, and followers of Zoroastrianism. These people need only submit to Muslim political authority to avoid or end a jihad. They may keep their original faith, but their status becomes dhimmi (a "protected" non-Muslim) and they must pay a prescribed poll tax.
In contrast to mainstream Sunnites, Muslim groups such as the Imami and BohoraIsmaili- Shiites are forbidden from participating in a hostile jihad. These sects believe the only person legitimately capable of conducting such a jihad is their imam, or spiritual leader.
thats the biggest load of crap i have ever read :)
I wouldn't readily discredit a source such as Microsoft Encarta Encyclopaedia without some pretty convincing sources, notwithstanding the fact that the likelyhood of you reading and understanding the article is poor. Harry has proven that you are, however, incapable of reasonable discussion, so I will not go to any great length to attempt it.
I am going to laugh when some of you get your first warning for this pointless thread shitting, maybe banned. You are all so rude..take your shitful antics to another thread.
Maybe I'll turn one of your Visual Basic help threads into a thread debating goat pornography one day and see how you like it.
Oh yeah, and kovan's on his last chance so a warning for you kovan would mean BANNED.
Hey now everyone can **** on the "kovan is banned" thread, how fun
***** all of you who blatantly shitted on my damned thread, especially you kovan. I thought you were getting better-- boy was I wrong.
do you see ANY sources from the quran to backup what that article says?Quote:
