BUG KILLED!
I just found and destroyed a big bug in the RadixConvertor class, which was trimming zeroes off both ends of the input values!
God, that is soooo n00bz!11!!1111!!!

Hey ho hey ho!
http://sandpaper.mendhak.com/
I would like to help as Dave got no time for the translator class. I would like to know the details about this class. Perhaps I can help.
Mend, nice img by the way.
Well, you can help with the l33t class... it mainly involves the replacing of words and characters with their corresponding l33t versions.
I've posted a link earlier in this thread to a wikipedia article.

The site would need to be equally... sandpapery. Good words would really make this mysterious yet alluring I hope. :)
YEESSS!!!!
The MessageBox problem has been fixed. Wow... I love and hate reflection at the same time. Here is the change:
VB Code:
Dim executing_assembly As System.Reflection.Assembly = New SandpaperProject.MessageBox().GetType.Assembly.GetCallingAssembly()
I had been doing .GetEntryAssembly all along, which is why the image never showed up.
I will post the corrected .VB file later. The only thing you need to do is replace the existing .VB file, let the images remain. Hope you remembered to compile them as "embedded resource."
Attached is the RudeMessageBox, corrected!
I've assumed that SandNet will be the assembly name here (assembly name matters in the image retrieving function). If it's not going to be so, change it.
Also, the images can be placed in a separate folder as shown in the ZIP file without having to change the code. So simply create a new folder under the SandNet folder called RMBImages and put the images there. sw33t!
The requisite RudeMessageBox sample:
Do you want to add it to the project (the copy I sent you a while back), and then when you are happy the sample's running OK, send it back to me.
Copy your sample folder into the main folder where the other ones are and then open the SandNet.sln and add the sample project to the solution. I think that should do it.
(ps. check your PM's)
OK, but I can do this on Monday. Not at office at the moment, got all days off till Monday. :-)
I've still not installed .Net, but have gotten a lot closer to finishing my VB app. Hope to get to sandpaper in a few weeks.
I don't understand how you can resist installing it. Vb6 is a baby rattle compared to .Net big stick with nails in.Quote:

Sample attached to project, but is too large to upload. (617 KB), so I've emailed it to woss. Woss, check your junk mail folder.
pwnage.
I'll sort out the raw file rejiggamaflip tonight.
This still going?
You bet! Sandpaper drives us!
Got something you want to add?
Whoa there Mendhax0r, this dude is a mod, do we really want to set a precedent and allow such a person to take part in The Project?
I dunno. Seems a bit risky to me, Heman was a big washout, him too big fo us small timers. Dunno if I can trust a mod again. Hmmm.
---
Just got your email btw. I'll integrate your changes with my version. I had to alter RadixConvertor to add essential new features (ie. make it work  ).
My bloody work email refuses to send encrypted attachments to my home addy. So I'll have to post Prawn here tomorrow and collect it tomorrow night.
C@p1t@ am teh sux0rz!!1111!!!!!!oneoneelevenThirtyoneinbinary!!11!
I must have missed a post. What's prawn all about?
Working to get the VB6 project out for BETA-TESTING. It should be the start of something *BIG*. That will allow time to install/learn .Net, as well as finally get W2003 up and running.
Its just that RAW file RGB --> GRB --> GBR convertor.Quote:

 You know anything about this Mend? Reeks of an unnapproved release to me ;)Quote:

It's good though! Something for those VB6ers... so they can stand in awe of the power of Sandpaper™
Package drop.
Can you update post #2 of this thread?
Oops, yes it has been a while hasn't it :pQuote:

My thoughts on the website, feel free to add or modify or suggest something:
1. HTML pages - no need for PHP or ASP or ASP.NET, since it's only going to be talking about sandpaper. I don't see any 'dynamic' sections there.
2. We probably need a logo. Currently, all I have is what's on this page: http://sandpaper.mendhak.com and that was just a 2.5 minute job in PS.
3. Sections for the site are:
Sandpaper
Downloads
Documentation
About
Inspiration
Don't Contact us :afrog:
Any more?
Debits? [Not, credit] :bigyello:
BTW, mend, I don't think I can help with l33t as I'm not el33t like you guys. :bigyello:
Good luck...
You need a links page to real sandpaper just in case you mislead people
A count of hits that says 'Those that found the light":afrog:
 sounds good to me.Quote:

*PUN ALERT*
We need an intro page called "The Rough Idea"
I was still planning on making Crap generator, I'm going to start on it pretty soon now, the internship-busyness is slowing a bit now.
We already have at least 2 classes that could be described as a Crap generator. Could you steer your considerable talents toward a more unique objective? :) Nice one.Quote:

I think I have to admit that documentation will not be available until the Spring. I simply cannot find enough waking hours in the day to devote to that.
*stressed out*
It's all gravy baby. We'll get there in the end.
FYI, I'm working on a prototype for the sandpaper pages. I will be uploading it later, towards the evening.
Prepare yourself to be blown lightly away in an awkward direction. :D
Ok, here's the sandpaper prototype, attached.
I want comments on it. What's written too large, written too small, bad colors. Mainly, I want comments on the sections. Anything missing? Basically, any comments you can think of. Remember, it's a prototype, in Adobe Photoshop, so it's just a matter of changing layers. :)
More specifically, my questions are:
The website is very simple, just 6 or 7 pages. How is the prototype for such a site?
I feel a sandpaper logo is missing. What sort of a logo should there be? Do you have any ideas for it?
Is the font, font color and font size OK?
What seems missing?
What is out of place?
What would you change about it?
Which sections need to be added?
Which sections should be removed?
What questions am I missing? :D
(So far) Comments from non-VBFers:
White font on blue background seems odd (menu items)
Needs logo.
Disclaimer shouldn't be toyed with, should be like other sites.
Move "Downloads" to the right, so it comes over in line with the contents.
I'm ok with the white text on blue background but the edges on those words look funny, are those images or really text? ALso I don't really understand what the on hover thing means? Are the links bold & blue and on hover the only thing chnages is it becomes underlined?
Nice. Design, simple and effective. I would make one comment, isn't sandpaper yellow??? So why blue?
Would also be nice to have a simple comments page which users can add a comment or suggestion on the download page. I can knock something up in PHP if you want.
As for my pensi extension :( - I'm having trouble getting it up and running due to time contraints imposed by my university. ;). Now is there a downlaod I can have a look at to see how I can merge my extension into what you've already done?

Alpha Team - "Callsign VisualAd, that's a negative. Field operatives do not have security clearance to access those files. It's for your own good, if you fall into enemy hands there is no telling what they'll do to you.
However, Intel Lab suggests that your data should be compatible with Core Ops. *Crackle BzzzZZZzzt* We are losing SatCom coverage *BzzzZZztTTT* resume contact... *HsssssssS* ...ergency rendezvo"

TRANSMISSION TERMINATED.
Blue title bar, no good.
Blue shadow on title, could be closer to text
Header needs a sandpaper feel...
Needs banners and logos.
Header and text don't match.
Needs sandpaper theme
Have a slogan in place of the date.
Note that the text doesn't align because it's several images, I didn't align them properly. They'll be ok on the web page. :)
Banner on top - not strong enough colors
Hard to see if it is on the midle because the horisontal stripe is too close to white.
Alignment of text (see post above)
Yes, just like when you hover over a link on VBF, it turns red. Not with embarrassment though ;)Quote:

What did you not understand about the color....just make it darker....it looks like it is not in the middle because you can't see the ends horizontaly because it is nearly white...you have to stear at it....so it looks like it is not in the middle of the page when you are just glansing over it....get it..:DQuote:

Mendhak, how about writing a SandPaper.AutoCoder ?
It will take parameter such as : ApplicationType, ProgrammingLanguage
and much more as AutoCoder grows :eek:.Code:private enum SandPaper.ApplicationType { DBApp, InternetWorm, WebApp, GiveMeCashApp, WriteNextVersionOfSandPaper.Net};
Code:private enum SandPaper.ProgrammingLanguage {CSharpe, VB.Net}
I guess you know where the inspiration came from! Well for the rest of you lot the idea is to make VB.Net obsolete :D
No more n00bie question asking "How do i write a virus?"
What do you think? I will think about it more.
Sounds great!! :afrog:Quote:

Do you want to work on this? Got the time?
Dont have too much time, but i will see if i can do something. I dont like programming in VB.Net. Does it have to be VB.Net?Quote:

Yeah. All non-vb submissions will be given a very cursory glance before paying a visit to the recycle bin. :) :DQuote:

Yo wossy, three things!
1. Add me to your safe mailing list so my emails don't end up in your junk folder. :afrog:
2. Did I attach the RudeMessageBox sample and send the solution back to you?
Well, SandPaper.AutoCoder will replace VB.Net so I guess i have to write some VB.Net code for now atleast :DQuote:

What all does this current library have right now? It sounds like fun!

1. Huh? Your messages don't end up in my trash. Do you mean normal email or gmail?
2. Yep, I mentioned this in an email which bounced back to me just now. Doesn't gmail like binaries in attachments?
3. Three things?

Clox0r - Sexy analog clock
ConsolePal - Small user text UI class
EleventhCommandment - Random religious fervour (fun for some of the family, don't let Sister Mary see this)
Joystick - Joystick interface (well, what did you expect)
MeaningOfLife - Programmatical pontifications and postulates
RadixConvertor - when does 6*9=42?
RudeMessageBox - out of the mind of Mendhak, nuff said
SandWatch - Simple high-res timer
pRAWn - re-orders red, green and blue bytes of a 24 bit RAW format photo file, command line driven, might be a standalone util, not yet decided.
Not going to release VB6 version? Transl33tor will take considerably longer than, I'm afraid. Haven't even thought about loading 'Net. Falling behind schedule as it is.
VB6 version is looking less likely all the time. I barely have any time to work on SandNet let along my own home projects. Roboplot is taking up 95% of my free time right now. Sandnet is a lesser priority at the moment. So you have plenty of time to get something sorted.
We won't be releasing any further versions of Sandnet this year unless mendhak wants to take the reins for a while?

2. No, no EXEs. :(
3. Exactly my point. :afrog:
dglienna, just work on the VB6 version, leave the conversion to us. Shouldn't be a problem.
We could release a lighter version of Sandpaper for VB6, since not everything we've done could be implemented in VB6, I suppose.
Kasracer, if you have any ideas, feel free to add to them and work on them. Everyone's welcome. :D
Right now, I'm working on the website... and I'll admit I'm slow. I still have to change the prototype and get (all) your approval before I start making the pages. I'm working on a tough project too... System.Reflection is tough.
I'm not bothering with gmail at the moment I can't see any benefit over normal email. In fact its decidedly less good.Quote:

There's always a way... I'm emailing you another email addy. :D
Take note though... I only check it once a day, when I'm in the mood for buying a new Rolex or member enlargment pills or when I feel like getting out of my debt.
I've sent a PM to Brown Monkey to see about help, again.
